  1. how am i imposing my values? you're the one looking to change tradition?
  2. 1. so things are too complicated. make them easier for me to understand? What's so difficult? you can hunt with a bow, you can hunt with a crossbow with a permit. simple stupid. 2. easy to fix. be a proponent for making it easier to obtain a permit. I'd be on your side there. 3. a crossbow is not a bow. but we will never see eye to eye on that one.
  3. And you call me a cherry picker? You're just cherry picking one of the points we make when arguing against crossbows. There are several reasons and I'm not alone. However, because I tend to be more vocal on the subject and a member of an organization you dislike you get all up in arms. Despite the fact that its much larger then the organization supporting the legalization of crossbows. You've made it clear at least a dozen times you're not a fan of NYBH, despite the charity and conservation efforts. Despite the compromises they've made with the muzzleloader crowd and DESPITE the fact they're a group of hunters. You yourself criticize them as being anti-hunter though and ask why we cant all get along. But just like any group we have our opponents because something we believe in, is something you dont believe in. Exo facto then, we're a bunch of elitist snobs... So we should disband and there will be one less pro-hunting organization in liberal NY. i've posted link after link and study after study. I'm not sure what other facts you're looking for. The pro people in this thread are the ones throwing around percentages as facts. Remember this initial thread was started based off a study. Those are facts.
  4. that's how I feel with ARs. But those entrenched on either side can never seem to understand the other's point of view. You're truly doing yourself a favor when you can understand why someone feels the way they do and not just label them as selfish. I do see why there is a push for crossbows. I get it. Another cool thing too use to hunt deer with. Most of us have muzzleloaders, shotguns/rifles and bows. So here is another option. I dislike the disabled argument though because most of us "anti's" support use by the elderly and disabled. What I dont like is that "let me use what I want and mind your own business" attitude. I dont see how that makes a point in the favor of crossbows being legal. I've expressed my concern with crossbows several times in several threads and I'm not going to keep rehashing it. I just wish those in favor could come up with better reasons on why it should be legal.
  5. you sure are confident... but i'm the arrogant elitist? I've given some of your points credit, yet you never seem to give an inch on your side. You're really no fun to debate with because you never concede that one side has some good arguments...
  6. the shot is 10% of it. It's the prep and the patience. But you still have to make the shot. I dont think there's a seasoned bow hunter hear that hasn't passed up a difficult shot or missed outright where they may have very well succeeded with an xbow.
  7. wide variety for me. 90s and early 2000s hip hop, most classic rock and most country excluding the taylor swifts, carrie underwoods, band perry and little big town. I'm also a sucker for doo wop, some rat pack and even the corny stuff from the 90s because every song triggers a memory from my childhood. my itunes is wild. lately i've had church, aldean and bryan on shuffle. But I've also been digging the lumineers. It's probably easier to mention what i dont like and that's death metal, 80s pop and disco.
  8. just an excuse. Libraries are free. Regardless of your upbringing you can better your grammar and vocabulary simply by reading books instead of watching reality tv.
  9. what did I take out of context? You made a statement and I refuted it. It's hard to take "wounding deer" out of context. here's one. I know there were plenty others regarding the noise they make, the limb size etc. But now all the threads are split up and I'm not wasting my time with you as you're clearly a xbow humper.
  10. grow where are you? not even snowing in wayne/monroe
  11. i have an issue with this shirt. The statue of liberty as we know is in NYC. The prime reason this law passed is because of that city. This law barely affects them, they dont care and they elected the ignorance that is our states leadership. I'd rather see the falls, the adirondack mountains or even the carrier dome haha. but thanks for donating a portion to scope and keep up the good work my man
  12. 4-6" in wayne tomorrow. so over this snow...
  13. lmao. 90% huh? that's quite the number. Did you do this study or did you just pull it out of your ass? And I get yelled at for lumping people together... I don't know how many hunters actually take up bow hunting in their 30's... So you're really busy and strapped for cash but you'll still go out and spend over $500 on a crossbow? And not practice with it at all? Honestly I'm 29. New home in July, new baby in August, 50 hour a week job and I still found 20 minutes after work a few times a week in September to shoot a couple dozen arrows. I didn't start bowhunting until after college. I was too busy with sports and school to devote the time to it. So i gun hunted. It's not like I was banned from the woods. I could quote quite a few statements in other threads by memebers saying they were just as hard dont waste your time. You disagree with them, therefore you're an elitest and wrong. Whether it's you, me or someone else who is opposed to crossbows during the archery season for the able bodied hunter, the resident crossbow humpers will attack like a pack of coyotes and you'll be called names, labeled and classified and then when you fight back they'll cry to the mods claiming you broke the rules. it's called regular and late season. Use whatever you want and nobody will care. And there are a ton of gun hunters taking bad shots as well. I dont see your point here. my biggest worries. My generation wants instant gratification. We cant even watch a youtube video over 1 minute. If it's not 30 seconds and to the point we lose interest. We watch tv and surf the web on our smartphones. We EXPECT to have a job out of college and everyone in all sports gets a trophy. When they get into the real world they're shocked to see that it's not a trophy for everyone. There is great reward that is earned when bowhunting. But as a society we have all become lazy and want it to be easier. No challenge for me please. There's several references in this thread alone to people leaving bowhunting do to lack of success. You know what I think of that? You didn't put in the effort. Putting on a saturday afternoon gun drive is just easier. I dont get up early and sit in the cold. At what point do we start allowing bait piles to make it easier? where do we draw the line?
  14. gee i keep hearing crossbows will save hunting in NY. That hunters numbers and kills are declining (even though our wildlife reports say different) and the crossbow will increase them...
  15. lightfields have never let me down. expensive but generally I only shoot 2 slugs a year though. These are out of my rifled barrel browning
  16. good chuckle with this thread. Aren't they like a few bucks at the store? seems easier... if i wanted my own i think i'd rather have shot a wild one vs a kids pet though haha. what if the kids sees it? he would probably think it was his pet whether it really was or not.
  17. i guess all I'm saying is that most gun owners will agree that there should be some changes made and if we can compromise on stuff like background checks and training then they may not go for the head when it comes to bans and restrictions. Unfortunately i think we all agree that if we give a little they'll just use that as their foot in the door until they're all gone.
  18. generally the only people who get transfer packages are senior management. The working stiff and low level management would be out on the streets. Most companies have different levels of packages but most include assistance with closing costs. Do the math on offering 1k plus people buying and selling costs and imagine what would happen if 1k houses went up for sale all at once in one area.
  19. potentially 4 months pregnant in a 6 month gestational period. And we're talking about a fetus; whether its human or not. A constant source of controversy in society. We even debate the morning after pill. So making (like I sad a bad analogy) is not that far off. With this logic... why do we even have seasons right? You wouldn't mind taking a doe in late March early April right? Or how about one with triplets on the ground already? Who cares right? I bet there's a large portion of this community that agrees with me. I'm just vocal and many here just dont speak their mind so they dont hurt any feelings.
  20. pictures on your ID and training??? that's not so bad. You realize what happened to us in NY right?
  21. yeah and i'd hate to see hard working people lose their jobs. Sure would send a message though...
  22. didn't realize it was one dude. fine by me... aint sh!t to hunt right now and I'm going stir crazy. Went shed hunting last weekend and there's snow on the ground... at least me and the dog got some exercise. May 1st cant come soon enough!
