Well that picture gives a different veiw and from that I would wager he is not fatally hit. Tough call but if it worked I think you would have found him, sort of all or nothing IMO. I would be back in the woods, he most likely will go back to chasing doe if he is feeling ok.

We still hunt alot and ground hunt damn near 99% of the time. Its alot harder than being up in a tree thats for sure but because of that the rewards of a challenging hunt are greater. Some times it just flat works, even on loud crunchy leaf days.

No need to call in the dogs just yet, did you mark where he left the field? If so go there and find his tracks where he ran, go really slow and have your buddy flank you while you follow the tracks.

Well being a high hit you won't see much and its in a field so that makes it harder yet. When you get to the woods look higher up on brush and trees for a misted on blood. The height and close range will help you on this, and its a good thing the arrow is stuck in him.

There is a possibilty that my foot would have slipped on the accelerator if I were there..lol Opps, I ran over a buck and a doe, what a terrible accident.

Looks like a high lung hit, he will be dead with in 100-150 yards in my opinion. Give him about an hour. How close was the shot and how high up is the stand?

Congradulations. I'm glad you listened to me and shot one..haha JK Both of my kids love to go down and watch us cut deer up too, I remember doing the same thing as a lil Doewhacker playing with the cut off feet. In fact both of them were questioning me as to when we are gonna cut up that 8 my brother got today.

I can't speak for the OP, but we have LOTS of yotes in Leeds, I lost half a doe to them a couple of years ago and that only took about 1.5 hours.

These stories where its the people that should know better always fascinate me. This is what the pressure to suceed in business will do to some, same goes for any business I suppose. Just imagine what some of these other more public idol types have done to get to where they are.

The issue isnt that he shot a horse, its that we are beating it, you can shoot horse but you CANT beat them. Apparently. For you sensitive types, that is a joke, go back to drinking tea and rubbing lotion into your hands while reading Redbook.

Interesting, I have seen two this year very simular, one had 1 inch spikes and the other had buttons like that one. Neither were fawns, I figured it was due to lack of proper nutrients. Hmm, I learned something today, Thanks Gman and Wny Bowhunter.

Thats a gut shot, he should be dead in the morning with in 150-300 yards. Take up the track and take your time in the AM but do be ready for him to maybe not be dead. If you were real lucky you hit the liver and he will be a little closer and bleed better. Good luck.
