Some times the DEC is picky in what they go after, they can't just go barging on to some dudes land because some one reports baiting and they seem to like to tie it in with more than one charge. The guys we had busted for baiting still do it year after year, figgin dummies dont get it. That particular officer was great and came back several times over the years when we contacted him.

You need to call your cousin before you can call in the DEC anyways so I would let him know first.

Fell in love with a Belgian....

I'm partial to wood stock, high gloss finish's on guns but that Carbon Fiber deal does sound interesting. I would like to see them both in person, might make it easier to get the true look of em. How about a high gloss Carbon fiber, that would be something. I tell you the semi auto's have come along pretty good, the Wincester sx-2 I picked up last year has hardly any recoil and isn't all that heavy either. It is not nearly as pretty though. -

Sounds like you need a drinking buddy, lol, my wife and I split the bottle. Two glasses each is ok, a whole bottle to your self will put a hurtin on ya and when you wake up the next day and find out you cleaned out the wine cooler good luck.
-
Its a table wine, aka a blend of different types of grapes. Lots of people choose wine based on label, nothing wrong with that at all. The rules for wine consumption are, 1 Price doesnt matter, its who what when and where that counts 2 Never ever leave wine in the bottle, you MUST finish the whole bottle when you open it! Someone gave us a wine stopper once, I looked at it with a WTF? look and tossed it. LOL

If you look at the adjusting the trigger thread in the gun section here you will see the full info of a place I used last year. Mac Greggors off of exit 18, 761-6484. I had them cut a shotgun barrell down of a gun I bought because the previous owner left the choke in it and it was stuck in there. They cut it and re-threaded it for me for cheap.

Dogs running deer............thanks neighbor!
Doewhacker replied to New York Hillbilly's topic in Deer Hunting
Yes do that. ^^^^^ -
Aint this the truth, christ I have seen and heard how many bucks he has killed and what their scores are so much I can damned near remember all of them! Let me it clear up for you Antler because you seem you to not understanding the point, (probaly because you arent the one making it for once), SOME people might benefit from experiencing dispatching a deer with a knife. NOT all people will or should feel the need to experience it that way. I can see where there might be a disconnect for some guys, they shot a deer at a distance and its dead, but if the same guy has to dispatch a deer at close range he just might make a connection to the animal we all so covet. It doesn't matter if its done with a knife, broad sword or bazooka, being close to something dieing DOES change a guy perspective, even if you don't agree with it.

Trigger Adjustment on a Remington 700 .308
Doewhacker replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
haha, no not quite. This place is about 20 minutes from my house, up a steep mountain. The guy cut and re-threaded a shotgun barrell for me last year on the cheap. Came out perfect. He had alot of guns in there waiting to be worked on or cleaned after deer season. -

I don't know of too many real deal gunsmiths down this way, I used one up off of exit 18 of the Northway last year I was very happy with the work and price. Might be way to far for you though? Here is the place just in case. Mac Gregor's Gun Shop 1180 Glens Falls Mountain Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846-2004 (518) 761-6864 () -
I don't want to burst your bubble but be prepared to get a number lower than what you value it at. Because unfortunately it is still a cabin way off the road with no power and running water, as awesome as it is to us, in the realestate world that don't mean squat. There are a few sites that sell mostly camps though and I'm sure if you search for land sales you will find them, or maybe some one here has dealt with one recently, sorry I can't be of more help.

Well it depends on the area in my opinion. Our Leeds spot produces some real scrubs, average body sizes but scrubs compared to Western NY. And I am talking 2.5 and up. I think its more to do with the minerals in the soil and so on. Ex. Spotted a 150-160 ish pound buck this year that had nice beams and back tines, but turned out to only be a 4 point. I really tried to grow more rack on him, not that it would have mattered he was far away anyway.
-
Oh man you are to easy for me..lol I was screwing with you the whole time, of course I know the term 50/50 and what it means..haha BUT I will say this, plenty of deer die of natural causes or car accidents with out the help of hunters and that was my point the whole time. Even if a deer survives a season there are NO gaurentees it will make it another year. Hence survival rates. I know two different topics but I am silly like that.
-
Come on buddy, be nice! What is the survival rate for buck 1.5 years old? Is it greater than or less than 50/50? Oh never mind you are just mad cause I beat you at your own game. And how would you know what I or my family shoots? lol Just because I don't care for AR's doesn't mean I shoot any little thing I see Joe. Once I found out you were a fellow still hunter I started cutting you some slack, don't make me regret that. haha
-
Elmo aren't you the guy that was talking about the time you tried to eat a Bull's hotdog? I think you are obsessed..just saying

Carefull me and him are bff's now. Its all about finding a bug with proper wingspan, I could go into bug biology but it would bee over your head. And yes I spelled be that way on purpose.
-
steve863, I only kill the biggest most mature bugs in the forest, I let the little ones chew me up so they grow and you should too.
-
Um yea I can say that because that would be illegal, atleast you admit to breaking the law. "You really cant do any better math than 50/50 if you shoot that baby today he is dead if you let him walk atleast he has half a chance to make it through the year" So you want to stand by your statement that the surrvival rate of a 1.5yr old buck is 50%? You might want to check into that stat..lol Admitingly the chance for surrvival is 0 if one gets killed but, there are far more ways for a deer to get killed outside of hunting. Here is a link to an interesting read, not based in NY but interesting none the less.. http://www.whitetaildomains.com/Articles/ShowArticle.aspx/184/Death+in+the+Brush+Country

So we kind of agree! haha I have noticed that some guys monsters are another guys scrub, to put it simply ofcourse. You know as different as you and I are we really share some of the same ideas concerning hunting, that scares me. lol

Huge Buck Ithaca/Cayuga Heights 16 pt?
Doewhacker replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in Bow Hunting
I don't know Sam, did you look at the map of the area eruss posted a link to? -
Right it doesnt matter to me but why the need to justify everything with some guys on the internet is what I'm reffering to. Its like guys want permission to go out and enjoy a hunt nowadays for some reason, like they won't fit in if they kill a buck that isn't "nice". It really is a bizarre thing to me on this forum. And I don't get where you think I get bent out of shape on here ever, nothing on here really bothers me ever, not even your condescending tone that comes out in many of your post's. As far as my statement on the fuzzy math, it sure does seem like he pulled 50/50 out of his butt. Is that a real number from some kind of a study? No its a made up statement made by a hunter. Opinions turn into facts alot, like "If the truth is known the guys that shoot the little bucks shoot them on their wives, kids, family or friends tag Most are not stealthy enough to hold out and take a mature buck" uh huh cause you can come up with a bunch of examples of guys that do that and have called the DEC on them to put a stop to it. Most guys have a hard enough time killing a buck let alone several. lol
