  1. and one other thing...TAKE YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. On the occasion that I do use a tree stand its genrally set between 12-16 feet and I do it to help with the scent and I am sure to wear my harness because I do not want to fall and break something. Never had a problem killing deer from the ground, usually I just find a good sized tree to stand in front of. In fact I think I have killed all but three from the ground.
  3. What an interesting twist to the story! Glad they figured it out with the aide of those amazing German dogs. NOW he has resolution for sure.
  4. The important part that can be taken from this is they didn't give up and found out what happened to him somewhat. They should be proud of the track job they did.
  5. Gotcha upstate, this buck could have very well went until he dropped dead especially if he was a bigger one. Even if it took him 2 days to die, bucks play by a whole different set of rules when hit.
  6. How do you know some one didn't finish it off? and judging by the distance it traveled you would be hard pressed to back track it and find the shooter.
  7. Did they happen to look through the gut pile to try and see where he might have hit it? Just curious is all. Tough to loose one but atleast some one got it.
  8. daaayyymmmmmm that is fat buck. I would almost call him a "slammer"..haha (I know Lawdwaz will get that reference.)
  9. Come on buddy you can do it!, put a hole in one to help boost your confidence back up. Its the best medicine after the not so great outcome from the other day. Do it for me!!!!
  10. Been seeing plenty of them, 46 so far for the year but we still hunt most of the time. Maybe thats the difference, most have been on their feet but a few were bedded down.
  11. I have a question for you 5.9, how many have you killed with the bow? Some times it just takes repeated exposer to figure it all out, and once you do it gets easier with every deer. Took me about 4-5 with the bow before I started figuring it out, now I have got a dozen under my belt its alot easier than it used to be.
  12. I am betting this years gift might be something you can find in the gift shop of a loonie bin. Just like the bags of stuff left on my porch for Halloween. lol
  13. Well he can go hang with my in laws because I surely won't..lol
  14. "Same goes for the family vacation videos by the way. LOL " Aint that the truth, my inlaws tape every one opening gifts every year at x-mas, yea I wanna see my self get excited over a pair of socks from 6 years ago can I have the DVDs?
  15. Any of you ever used the shot that is shaped differently? It is supposed to not drag hair and feathers through with it.
  16. Twisted, if you wound one in the pinebush again shoot me a PM, I work in Guilderland and would be happy to help track one with you. I do think this deer died somewhere and if you had an arrow ready perhaps you could have taken a second shot when it got up...allways be ready for that scenario.
  17. Maybe if you have your wife punch you in the good eye the bad one would seem better? I'm sure she would loooove to ablidge. haha Good luck with the eye Doc.
  18. Now that you guys mentioned it, I used to use Improved for rabbits until I started doing more bird hunting. I like to let them get out there a ways before I shoot them 30-40 yards so the pattern is nice and big. We don't rabbit hunt much anymore, especially since I have two bird dogs.
  19. I just broke a sweat reading this thread..whew We just got good circulation is all. haha
  20. Good luck, they don't seem to want to leave the corn when its still standing because they can just jump a row or two and hide. Our mountain has lots of corn this year for the first time in a decade and all of the sign is in and around the corn and no where else. Of course that area only has a few deer any way so it makes it extra hard to hunt em. I am speaking of the Richmondville area, its our big buck spot. shhhhh
  21. I just set up my account and yes its free on the PC, neat site. Seems to be accurate too.
  22. Yes, IMO of course. I use the same load for birds too, works for me.
