when things wind down a bit after the season i'm making a trip down to TreeHouse Brewing. If anyone is around there right now they've got their 1,000th batch available which happens to be an Imperial Stout.

this thread is losing steam. must be christmas gift money and beer money come from the same account. lol

Possibly a new go to beer readily available. I've had all the rebel line. It's good but this is very drinkable and crushable for as it says anytime. Really liked it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

no idea. it's plausible with how much acreage they own. i think it's a lot.

definitely don't want any flex when it heats up. i know i just wouldn't want to develop any kind of rust on my hunting tools.

i don't really watch any of their shows no. The one you're talking about, William aka "Matt", seems to put himself out there for the world. Rest of the family not so much. He's got one hell of a play ground. the dad Bill comes across like an idiot but he's got to be smart to have accomplished what he did even before Wild Game Innovations. He was the chairman of the state game commission even. crazy how things change.

They didn't exactly cave. Appealing to the public is a major concern for them. some of it was beyond their control it was legislated. others were pilot areas. they even followed up with a survey to know hunters thoughts. not everyone got what they expected but "A majority of hunters in the pilot AR units prefer that the program continue." what i don't understand is them not following up again with a survey to track hunter satisfaction. antler restrictions shouldn't be a set it and forget it thing. they're supposed to be monitored like any other management tool. except for the buck fixing around staten island. that should be set to off, forgotten, and all the people involved making stupid sums of money should be sued to get some of that tax money back.

going with what Belo said i have a mortage, personal truck loan (not on paper), car lease, a handful of credit cards at any given time. any school loans are long paid off. most cards are retail store based but one card account is over 10 years old. depends on the credit score source but last i found out was just recently when doing the wife's car lease at 836.

any credit card will bury you if you carry a balance. you have to pay it off in full with each statement. also any late fee will cut right into any return. i have but don't keep any credit card with an annual fee. typically like my Cabelas/Bass Pro Black card or Lowe's store card i get back 5% on purchases their. Cabelas card is 1% on everything else from a pack of gum to whatever i'm already buying, plus if they want to move a certain product they give extra % purchase price back. X months of free financing is pointless you're just asking to get into a pickle. if you don't have the money now then don't buy it. some have deals where you get piles of initial points/credit for opening it but then have a annual fee to get the cost back eventually, plus there's a minimum amount you need to charge to it within a period of time. southwest airlines does that. I open it up, charge the minimum, get the initial points, pay it off, use the points to travel, and then cancel it. wait at least year or two until the have another deal and then do it again. lol they don't deny me so i keep doing it.

only if the 45 is elegant and soothing to load. i mean a round or two is all it takes. good for recovery from the previous sessions with the 25 where you're firing more hot rounds and waiting your equipment to cool down in between. it'll definitely wear ya out. 45 really has some ass behind it though with more knockdown power. you've got to take it seriously and respect it. oh crap i thought we were talking about gun calibers.... my bad!

strange tactic and choice of gifts.

if i can. there's one at the club but you can only do so much.

Brackett was a douche and intended to shoot two deer. Big Bill Busbice made a mistake and then made it worse when he didn't own it until after getting caught. Big kick in the nuts to everyone that's associated with them, especially family. Imagine being his sons and having to speak to people, admit your pops a screw up, but then save his rep enough to move forward on the right path?

i'm actually ok with her. she was an airhead by trying to take a follow up shot on a grizzly only to get the wrong one in her sights and then make a great shot. still an honest mistake. the guide feared for his livelihood and set things in place to cover it up. she screwed up by giving in. shortly after the fact she reported herself. people make mistakes and then own them deserve at less punishment in my mind.

no need. your fine. they come in quick even if trotting in. good to have freedom of movement when the time comes to shoot quick. -

opinions on this parcel of land for hunting?
dbHunterNY replied to goosifer's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
if a property has deer it can be made to hold deer longer or appeal more to deer. you can't create things like hard mast trees though. looks like you'd have mostly scrub stuff that grows fast. more mature woods are in the back. don't have much for stem count but you can plant faster growing stuff for stem count and cover for later in the season when tall weeds and what not thin and die out. just need to also put in better food adjacent to it. fast growing stuff doesn't usually provide best of both. retrieval access can change but something you can always work to change for the better. i don't know of a single set of neighbors that get along that won't let the other get their deer even if with some stipulation. it works against them because if they don't work with you they have little to no reason to think you'll work with them. i don't think anyone mentioned this but narrow deep properties don't hunt large. limited routes in and out that's more difficult to hunt low pressure with multiple people getting in and out to hunt multiple sets at the same evening or morning. if you pay fair price i can't see you getting burned if you have to resell it. you have road frontage and as long as it's not stupidly wet to where lots of fill or tiling won't fix it then it's probably a build worthy lot. make sure to find out if it's forever wild, watershed, has utility easements that would affect that. leases can work but owning has more flexibility and less chance of getting screwed. if you had a little more i'd say you could have a local farm plant 10+ acres of ag to look into lowering taxes. -
i rode out to green lakes state park with Matt Ross for the DEC meeting few years back. didn't get into it in lots of detail but he did say buck age structure was important maybe more so than ratio which constantly works to correct itself in a hurry. i don't believe it was for that reason you mentioned though. i agree a young buck will run around stupid whether it's getting some or not. young bucks breed more based on numbers and opportunity. bucks with more age help set the tone and trend of activity for a naturally regulated rut. i think they're also more efficient at finding the earlier and later doe during the rut which has to work against anything causing a trickle rut/breeding. i'm sure there's probably other reasons but i'm not a biologist.

show me a 9 or 10 pt yearling and you're showing me a buck that won't make it past 2.5 yrs old about anywhere in the state. antler restrictions or not it doesn't matter. any buck that's toward the top of it's age class runs the gauntlet. there was an outfitter that had a 2.5 or 3.5 yr old 14 pt out in Oklahoma that i hunted with. he pleaded and showed one of his close clients who he trusts in hopes it wouldn't get shot. guess what buck fell on the 2nd day of the hunt? lol

Carbon Odor Absorbers for Storage
dbHunterNY replied to Five Seasons's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
anything not that's not carbon clothing i put in an old cedar lined chest. seems to work well. just not boots or anything sweaty. it gets washed first. -
years back we found a muzzy in a bucks neck. all healed over. never knew it until we trimmed out the neck meat.

coyotes will come from cover and something has to pull them out. your scent can't blow to them before they offer a shot. you do get busted make the sound of an injured yipping dog. some times they'll turn broadsided for a second and look back.
