...oh yea congrats to him. sounds like he's got more pursuits ahead though.
-
damn... that's all. wait... i want in.
-
makes any of my accomplishments seem insignificant. God's purpose for that guy was readily apparent.

for right now i'm using reflective tape on my arrows. always thought about using lighted nocks just never have. mostly due to expense i suppose. i try lots of different arrows. i'd hate to buy lighted nocks for all of them.

How would you react to this situation? (Hunting permission)
dbHunterNY replied to regulat0r's topic in Deer Hunting
i wouldn't bother the landowners much but you have to talk to them. when i say that bring a very simple permission slip that you can hunt the property. simply say that if you run into any others you don't want any trouble and you'd like it so anything can be resolved without them getting involved. also ask for their names and phone numbers in case you see something wrong to let them know. doesn't get asked often but you should ask them what they expect of you as a hunter on their property. clear up access and where you're okay to drive. find out how the house/move is going and if their in a pickle with anything. maybe you can help or keep a service in need in the back of your mind for them. just don't get permission to hunt without making it known you're also a neighbor that could possibly be there when in need. they're still strangers though really so don't imply any issues will happen but let them know you're looking out for their best interests. no trail cams or leaving things there. don't screw into any trees or clear shooting lanes or access trails etc. minimal impact for now. don't bring others. just you. cable locks on what you do leave there. if the guy never sees you maybe he'll come around or you'll be out of sight and out of mind. -
if it didn't increase my range soo much it's down right disgusting i wouldn't be using one. in all honesty there's not much to it. also i have yet to have a sight come out of adjustment. they can be pretty durable.

i try not to walk and cross trails i'm hunting over from the stand. low hanging licking branches work at the trail, even if they don't have an active scrape at them. if i have to cross the trail i usually take whatever scents i had left over mix them up and squirt that on something natural on the far side of the trail.

i try not to stop the deer unless i absolutely have to. usually it's bucks on doe and she's not feeling it when i have to try.

my hunting bow is 32" i only really check it if i'm at a steep angle. i have 2nd and 3rd axis leveling otherwise i'd probably take it completely off. shot sequence is kind of a blur. i hear the thwack and the deer is trying to figure out what happened before i realized i released the arrow. thinking about it; draw level while watching deer, finger behind trigger, hit release anchor point while coming down, once deer is at pin guard i'm settled with rest of my anchor points, back tension starts as i float the pin into the exact spot, and then it goes off so my finger pressure is there too. now that i think about it that's kind of different then when shooting at targets. back tension starts when i'm on target with pressure already on the trigger. back tension before the trigger probably helps me maintain form? idk. it works. thinking about it too much already and need to stop.

yea once into the second week of Sept it's pretty common here. i'll wait a bit now to check trail cams. let them shuffle around a little and then settle. probably make it a point to check them few days before season opener.

haha.... it's all good TC. i'm actually a 7'-6" indian and the bass is tipped back to make it appear shorter. i'm 20' away. taped out at 37". had to use the boats to herd it into the marina. then had to wade in there with a gaff to get it out. hell of a story actually. didn't want to blow up my spot is all. ....oh wait how do i delete posts?

Im 6' tall for reference and holding it real close to my body. None of the holding it out and close the camera stuff you see. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Already one for Oneida lake so might as well post in here. Father in law has camp at Johnson bay marina o n the northwest end. Did some fishing and hung out this past weekend. Caught small mouth that were good size. Some sunfish and perch too. No walleye but father in law does get them. Needed a good large mouth though. Sunday am before breakfast I managed a 7" and this guy which was 17" or so right in the marina. Not sure how much it weighed. Made it quick and got him back in the water to fight another day. I'm a jerk. I tend buy nice lighter weight ones and then cut the end of the index finger and thumb off on it. Thats for compound. This season I got these mechanic wear leather ones. I'm going to try them with the recurve and leaving them intact versus gloveless with shooting glove on release hand. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i'm not really big on them. to be honest i only use them on the farm. we have higher standards than those around us. for all of us who hunt the farm we use trail cameras so we're on the same page as what everyone is letting go or willing to take. it's seemed to work out well for everyone. farther north or on public land... forget it. i don't even bother. just scout the old fashioned way when the season nears and is here. different strokes for different folks and even situations i guess.
-
unexceptable! take them back. i don't even know how they shoot out of that bow without the right finish.
-
i've thought about building one for my dad. we'll see. looking foward to the finished project.
-
we expect no less shooting the new fancy mathews of yours. remember to always get them in lost camo though. stay trendy my friend.
-
they can very in price a little bit. i'd get an arrow saw before a chrono though. i have everything else.
-
i was in walmart last night. looked and they actually had decent arrows. Bloodsport Punisher arrows with brass inserts. I stopped and started figuring stuff in my head. think i could turn the Evo down to from 67 ish to around 60 lbs to use them (.350 spine). then put them back down. 29" 300 spine 10.7 gpi arrows are shooting fine.
-
i really need to get a chrono... then again the number doesn't mean anything to the deer.
-
damn now that's customer service.
-
built like a tank. i know i've tested mine more than i or anyone ever would want to. told the story on here multiple times. spot hogg screws are stainless. anyway not sure if they have them out in western NY but i usually go to Fastenal contractor stores to get all the odd ball bow hardware. not sure how it'd be going through spott hog. i've heard customer service is good but no first hand experience.
-
i've had the best luck starting them that way but then not continuing to do so and just let the deer take over.
-
leak right off the treestand. i don't move around and get down. after a day or so in open air all urine turns into ammonia anyway i think.
