i know some shoot further but 60 yards is a far poke. keep it up. you're doing alright! IMO shooting long distance helps with consistency and muscle memory. it's easy to do everything a little different and still shoot well at 20 yards. not so much at say 60 where you're at.

i imagine you in the store with your stature jumping up and down while fiercy clapping your hands at the sight of pink and purple accessories. then a young kid who works their being thoroughly confused. haha coming along nicely. i'm excited for her.

regardless of how well she does, you both being passionate about the same interest is so awesome words doesn't do it justice. nothing wrong with chasing perfection and improvement, as long as you don't burn yourself out doing so and still have fun.

all that matters is it wasn't my truck and i wasn't doing the shooting! haha

i do that with the bulk. wanted to mix it up a little.

happy belated bday!

i know a guy that rested his deer rifle on the bed of his pickup truck. aimed through his scope and across the bed at the deer. squeezed off the shot and heard a loud tong sound. bullet stuck stretching and pushing out the sheet metal on the other side of the truck bed. funny story but you laugh your &%$ off every time he pulls into a driveway to chat and word around town has the people looking before he utters a word.

Senate Bill S1129A Broome County Rifle (West)
dbHunterNY replied to rotorooter23's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
take it and run. practically all other hunting related bills stall out. -
short list for today. maybe an early day. nothing hunting related on the list. so much for this year. i think someone should put up a bill to have a minimum number of session days increased. overwhelming amount of disappointment surrounding hunting related bills, the effort that went into them, and some of the senate offices lack to care. apparently we as a group aren't loud enough.

Last night had a bonfire. Broke into a 64oz growler with the wife. Schmaltz brewing out of Clifton park. It was "518 summer session". It's a light bodied Belgian Wit modeled after a cocktail you get at Saratoga Race course. Their 518 brews only available here locally. Never had it before. It was good. Nonsense Moog. Without them where would he stash ammo for a gun fight, if he forgets to leave his house with pants on in the morning?

Bullets I use are tough to find. I have plenty though. Bigger problem is you're the other side of the state. lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I used a Ruger Mark III similar to that to take the one under the garage. Longer heavy barrel. Accurate though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I like your idea better. chuck under my garage took my 22lr pistol rounds like a champ. In hind sight much rather have used a larger cal pistol of mine. Didn't think I needed it at the time. Did the job but I'd rather he be anchored in one shot. I've got +p+ hallow point FBI loads that would've worked. Theyve been sitting in my safe for years serving very little purpose. with the wet spring and now intermittent heat it's a good year for hay. there's going to be a lot of it this year. garden is raging as long as i keep it watered on the hot days until the tap roots can get down far enough.

Thoughts on adding a pond to the property?
dbHunterNY replied to First-light's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
we've got a shallow bass pond that's spring fed about 3.5' deep that's always been there. another bigger one that we dug with the dozer and about 10' deep bowl. stacked a few boulders together for structure. bigger bass tend to stay there. smaller 8-12"ers circle the shoreline. then we've got a few duck ponds that are designed for waterfowl habitat. they're very shallow with channels and mounded banks so ponds aren't visible from one another. about anything will use a pond. hardest part is digging it to hold water. we've got a lot of clay. doesn't grow huge antlers but it makes nice ponds. make it close enough to use for cabin but if you have the means give it a dog leg away from the cabin. then plant or give it some screening to keep the end out of view from cabin. animals will use it more often during daylight if it's out of sight from the cabin. another option to keep it cleaner is give it on out flow into a smaller pool for the wildlife. again not in view of the cabin. -
Here's a photo of some i took on the farm yesterday. Layed them out nicely to hide the exit holes. otherwise it'd be pretty graphic despite being taken as humanely as possible. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Had a one digging holes along the sides of my shed right where the electric services runs into it and then continues on to the garage. Well the garden is doing well and he moved to the back side of the garage right next to the gate going into the garden. no electric service there but that bothered me enough. connected multiple garden hoses together to reach over there. got my Ruger 22LR pistol so i didn't pepper my siding or do significant damage to my garage foundation. Turned on the hose to flood his hole and sure enough he came out one last time. On another note hay fields are getting mowed on the farm. Was just over there yesterday and took a few after an early dinner. Seems there's never a shortage. For those of you looking for an in to hunt property it's a good place to start and earn the landowners trust plus we can benefit from them being gone. Great way to keep the rifle skills tuned for fall. Perfect fun practice for youth too.

my 2.5 yr old made me a card and my wife helped. they've both been sick. that's more than enough. besides i'm a PITA. anything i want i just go buy it. i'm a bit hard to shop for.

i usually just use bing maps birdseye view. i say throw duck decoys on your roof and check periodically.
-
...another thing. with my involvement in deer related things as you know is a year long endeavor. my wife is fully broken into the idea that deer season is in the fall but deer stuff happens 364 days a year. i don't knowingly hunt anything on her bday.
-
my wife wanted a fall wedding. i said it's hunting season, so no. she said we can schedule before deer season as she understands. reluctantly, we schedule a couple weeks prior to the opening day of bow season. any honeymoon that's not hunting related will still give me at least a week free prior to the season. DEC announces moving opening day up two weeks to october 1st. anniversary is September 29th. i missed the first week at most for honeymoon vacation but as the season carries on I remind her i missed opening week for her! lol not much of a worry most of the time the big boys aren't on their feet as much versus last half of October. i don't tell her that though.

yes after today. today, Tuesday, and Wednesday (june 21st) are the last legislative days for this session. crossbow bill has to be resurrected next year as it's assembly version isn't out of committee it seems. only bill that has any "flicker of hope" according to the New York Outdoor News is the poaching bill S387. the rest haven't made enough progress in both assembly and senate to make it through in just 2 days. Not dead. Just has to be pushed to get through the process maybe next year. they at times have extend the session but so far it looks like that isn't going to happen.
