  1. especially at distance with a clean paper face on the target the horiztonal and vertical tape helps with sighting in. even more so with the single adjustable sights a lot of people don't shoot enough arrows to get a good picture. they adjust their sights and basically chase the openness of their groups. in my opinion it sounds like you're doing it right.
  2. you'd be surprised what some wedding venues are willing to ditch a wedding party for. we were going to have ours at one place and they decided it interfered with their fall festivities. they informed us far into the reservation process that they're were holding halloween fright fest on the grounds the same day and we'd have to just deal. it wouldn't have been that bad if the fest wasn't surrounding our immediate wedding area. they were going to have the wedding tent decor changed to match the scary festivities too. we using other words in the most polite way possible said go screw yourself.
  3. often with grasslands hedgerows develop and grow out of control. tree lines breaking up much of the area aren't good for the grassland species as it promote the wrong birds of prey. they also usually promote the spread of species invasive to grasslands like bush honeysuckle and buckthorn. we just helped DEC this spring with a grassland area out this way.
  4. Had some really dry hot days a week ago. Even laying some plastic on the raised beds and newspaper down elsewhere wasn't helping enough. Setup a couple water sprinklers. She's taking off now. When everything is up well I'll share some picks. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. If you feel like you can shoot further then go for it. Shoot as far as you're comfortable to get that second mark and then compare the distance between that and 20 yard mark to pick your tape with the matching length. It'll be the most accurate. You don't have to do the math or do exactly as it says on paper that comes with it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Trying out carbon express arrows now but shot Easton hexx for a couple years. They shot great even without the heavy insert. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. Nothing wrong with a stout FOC and flying just like darts. Nice shooting. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. My families farm no longer has beef. Between fixing fence after storms, feeding them, meds, and dealing with them when they get out at in inconvenient times it was done. Now just do hay. Definitely more profitable selling it than feeding it out. Get a lot coming out from Boston area of Mass. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Made an old family recipe pie just the other night. Berry cream. Perfect for berry season that we're getting into if you grow or have some around. made it with strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. I remember mighty taco. Crazy. Been a long time since I've been back to buffalo area or western ny. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. beauty of a gun. i've always thought about getting a 22LR rifle. i've got a target/hunting 22LR pistol. never had much drive to get the plastic ugly 22LR. i don't have kids old enough either though.
  12. can't order online anymore i take it from the website. There's a store 45 minutes south of here. might go check it out. don't know how picked over it is but it's a location that isn't getting closed up.
  13. even out west you can get away with a 50-60 lb bow all day long. same as any other ballistics. if you're hunting say moose at whatever distance or smaller game like deer at longer distance you'd care more about maintaining energy down range and pentration. you can push a heavier arrow with heavier draw weight at the same speed and as flat as a lighter arrow with a lighter draw bow. assuming all else equal that heavier arrow will penetrate better than a lighter one, shot from a lighter bow, going the same speed. you have to consider bows draw differently too. i could give you one bow at 70lbs that'd draw as easy as another at 55 lbs. pick a bow, sit in a chair pick both feet off the floor, and try to draw relatively straight back without squirming around. as long as you can and not struggle, you're probably not too heavy. hunting out west is typically spot and stalk or from the ground. terrain still isn't level and making a standing shot on not level ground has its effects. a longer bow say 34" versus 30" will be easier to shoot without unknowingly canting the bow left or right that would throw off your shot left or right.
  14. i have it on my 3D/hunting backup bow. the dial is more weight but seems a tad more precise and easier to adjust. they've got the same thing now with a few pins. that'd be preferred. fixed for most hunting situations without much clutter and moveable for practice, long follow ups, or if you feel you can cut it for a farther shot with more precision (dialing verse splitting within the pin gap).
  15. oh hell here's my take.... not going to lie it'd be cool experience as all hell to sit in a stand and have multiple booners or 200+" deer walking through. if you're a hunter you'll get enjoyment out of seeing deer in that setting that are that big. i don't care who you are. are the bucks tame to walk right up to them? probably not, even going through the handling facility. if you made some areas off limits and went after them with say a traditional bow it might very well be a tough hunt. is it the same as free range? not even close. that said whatever floats a persons boat i'm fine with. as long as it doesn't effect the free range population and you're calling it for what it is, i don't care. not for me, but i don't care.
  16. puts out a $100 dollar Stealth cam all halfa&&. gets a lousy picture of a stray or poorly owned dog. all of the sudden we've got pumas migrating from central and south america. only time i give it any thoughts is when a local game farm zoo might have lost one and kept it secret from the public. even that's a bit of a conspiracy theory. a dog if left wild and free will kill chickens and cats. most of us here in Rensselaer county aren't crazy.
  17. Well I had a length of casing break open but i think it was torn to begin with. Probably something I did. I had soaked them for probably a day and a half. They seemed pretty manageable. I think the plastic jerky gun with short stubby nozzle is what hindered my efforts slightly. Dad has decent size commercial Hobart grinder and nozzle but didn't seem worth lugging it out of his garage and cleaning it twice. Thing's gotta weigh over 50 lbs without the neck and accessories. I'll probably pick up a press or stuffer. Holding out for a second grinder. Dad's keeps going but it's probably 40 years old at least. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  18. They always come out great. I don't really stick to that method. Depends on how much smoke I'm pumping out, the rub I'm using, and who's eating it. I usually do a dry rub then just cover them. Open it all up toward the end the last hour or two to let in some smoke. Half way through I put apple juice or at least water in with the foil. The handful of hours is more important as it gives enough time to render down fat so you've got lean ribs and broken down layer of tissue surrounding each rib bone. Sometimes 321 is too much smokiness for some like my 2.5 yr old daughter. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  19. Laat night was ribs, mixed veggies, and garlic bread. Fall off the bone tender. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. how do you not end up with salt everywhere in your house? lol
  21. Bulk is already made. Wanted some in casings so I could throw them on the grill easier and not have to make patties. The jerky gun isn't ideal but its what I already have. It worked better once i got the hang of it. Using dry salted natural hog casings. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  22. a black bear in a clear cut and then Brown bear. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. Took this guy setup on a steep rocky hillside. Heading off the mountain to graze. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. Did some more shooting this weekend. This guy was rubbing a tree. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  25. So thawed some venison and tried making some sweet Italian sausages for the grill. It was a pain between soaking casings and then getting it in the casings with the jerky gun. Managed to vac pack several lbs of it though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
