any competition shooters, including myself, much prefer better quality stuff that's still relatively cheaper. standard velocity ammo and sometimes especially for rifle sub-sonic. the high velocity Remington Golden Bullets, Winchester Wildcat, etc. just aren't consistent enough and accuracy depends on your gun. we prefer to have large amounts of the same lot too (half or full cases). seems the going rate is $600 per case (5,000 rounds) when I got either Eley Sport or Aguila std velocity target.

anywhere else can order it. we in NY can't. anything within driving distance of a NYer that needs some will be hit with quite a demand.

the hoarding on and off is localized. locally some might get their fill and it'll stay on the self for a couple days. most will only sell you a box of 50 though and are breaking up any bricks they get, unless you're at a big box store. then nobody knows any better. seen it show up in waves and then none for a while. figure it's just how the distribution from the mfg goes down throughout the country. they're making more of it than ever before. I think the hoarding will continue as long as those in office are prone to putting the squeeze on ammo and guns. 22LR is cheap so it's easy for the average joe to pick up a hoarding habit. I don't foresee it going away any time soon. It might get a whole lot worse if Clinton gets elected to steer the ship. sweet old bill, if you were as far away as you are you'd have some in your hands. your situation is the exact reason I'd give any up. that or my family and friends asking for some as Christmas or bday gifts. lol

some get away with a lot but treat a UTV like you would an ATV. if a hill is to the limits of your ATV then don't think it's cake with a UTV. many get messed up bouncing or get sideways sliding or rolling back down the hill and then roll it. if you're doing any recreational riding then the my sport based ones are the way to go. sounds like simply work horse related. momentum and subtle actions are your friend when dealing with hills.

Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY
dbHunterNY replied to mike rossi's topic in General Hunting
moose is right up there better than deer if cooked right. No elk by any means but definitely good. from what I've seen you get around 35% yield for meat. I've only seen one bull here in NY and his antlers were dished out so he wasn't that young. -
First corn plots
dbHunterNY replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I'd think a couple acres of corn would get hammered before the season started. standing it works good for funneling deer across larger fields where you want them. -
Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY
dbHunterNY replied to mike rossi's topic in General Hunting
never knew NY had 1.5 ton bull moose walking around. sign me up. how many tags are being auctioned? if I bid $5,000 would I get one of the about 100 or so tags? is that not enough? -
Here's my last one. Didn't eat him though.

That mosasaur swimming thing looked tough. Need a torpedo or two for that thing.

don't like cleaning many fish so I tend to find a nice little live frog and toss it a few feet from the edge of cover. it gets hit as soon as it touches the water. I've been using Strike King KVD perfect plastics infused with garlic and coffee scent. the finesse worm and fat ocho like worm or my go to baits. I can fish them dead off the bottom or swimming around cover. I've gotten sick of losing hard, non-weedless, baits.

one persons freedoms start were another one's ends. that's how life works and we need to deal with it.

I've never really thought I needed the 3rd blade and I've been using various Rage heads continuously since they've come out. I'm not concerned about arteries so much as poking a sizable hole in both lungs and popping them like a balloon. other case is I hit one but hit the heart too. the 2 blades leave a typical 3" long open gash for entry and exit when broadsided path happens. a heart won't work with that damage. say it's not a good clean kill and you hit it not at the right angle or whatever. I'd rather have the more penetration for maximum damage from the 2 blades versus less with the 3 blades. I've seen a noticeable penetration difference with the newer cut on contact front blade design of the titanium heads or the SS versus the more triangular original design. last deer I took she spun toward me already slightly quartering too and the shot went wrong. the titanium (2-blade) entered to the rear of the front shoulder, all the way through the deer, and out the rear of the opposite hind quarter. she went less than 40 yards all completely downhill. I wouldn't expect that kind of results and penetration with the 3 blade, despite it's got one more blade cutting it's way through doing damage but slowing it down. a small reason added to that to prevent me from switching is the barbed head deal that may change depending on which ECO I talk to. I'm sure it's been said on here that heads you choose are a personal choice that you should be comfortable with and they all have killed game.

I'd go with a Fusion 7 versus the 6. also I don't really shoot Mathews but I know multiple people that for whatever reason chose a version of the Chill over the new NoCAM. for the love of God and others get a bow with adjustable draw length or at least able to change out only separately ordered modules to adjust it. enough bows can do this now it's a no brainer. increases chances of selling it down the road or passing it on to a friend or family member. trading them in is pointless as you get nothing for a lot of your used equipment. bows now are plenty fast enough now that you won't lose much from a more forgiving 32+" ATA and 6.75+" brace. super short bows and super short brace heights are a fad that gets you nothing but better specs on paper.

from running or getting the arrow hung up on brush/trees/etc. it gets pulled out. not saying a deer wouldn't bite and pull or even kick it out. seems less likely though. I've cut out muzzy heads from a deer's neck that have been there from prior seasons when processing my own. sometimes barded or not doesn't make a difference. I don't think it's a dumb rule though as the logic is there.

I've seen dogs in action why the heck haven't they found them yet is beyond me. if there's a creek or something where the dogs lose the trail work them down stream. I was just down in the Binghamton area were the alleged siting was but it sounded not very reliable. they just rolled up on bicycles into a fast food restaurant?? seems odd. if you make the reward too high they be on "wild goose chases". I think they should make it a floating reward sum.... at least this amount but not to exceed this amount based on quality and quantity of info given. limit can then be really high. very annoying as the wife is all worried at night now.

around here there's a company called Alonzo fireworks that's does aerial displays for municipalities often enough throughout the year. they're big, loud, and awesome. to buy fireworks yourself is crazy expensive for even the less spectacular ones. I think it's not a bad idea to allow the little less serious stuff so people have access for smaller parties. don't think anyone needs to be setting off mortars with a beer in the other hand for a birthday though.

what kind of fencing do you have.... I've used chicken wire with good results. bury the last 3-4".

light gauge shotgun like a 20 or smaller. generic bird/small game shot like 7.5 is good. I use a factory full choke and usually try to lead it to catch it just in the head or miss. usually that's close within 20 yards. some high areas of swamps are a bit closer even. might go IC or M choke then.

one of these years i'll go. not this year though.

he sure did keep that thing close in the movie but not once did I see it do anything significant to any dino. they use all kinds of stuff on the dino yet I think a 50 BMG or similar to the head would've worked. I thought it was a good movie.

when we went there due to health code and safety standards we couldn't go in the and around were they did most of the processing. they had a video they showed us from start to finish. even done in the most ethical way it's still not for the faint of heart. much more humane than mother nature though. you can see some it online. http://www.cargill.com/connections/beef-processing-tour-dr-temple-grandin/index.jsp they can be audited at any moment and never know until it's too late if they were doing something shady. it's not like crap from other countries that you see on the internet, from Oprah, or something else ridiculous.

if it's a really light rain all day and they haven't eat then yes for short periods of time. otherwise they hate the rain.
