  1. Classic if I say it enough it will become true and a real issue.
  2. I'll let you know if it ever happens.
  3. So 2 state showed a decrease in archery sales after xbow introduction. Kind of shoots down that "gunhunters flocking in" prediction.
  4. Sad to say but yes, many do - especially it seems urban archers shooting in their own back yards. Read here or any archery forum and you see how many do it with what they feel may be an OK backstop. Feel being the key word as on these same forums you will hear stories of deflections, etc that the backstop did not work for.
  5. d-bone - that is what I have been saying for years now. Around me in the SZ, there are more MZ hunters out the 1st week of late season (depending on weather) than the middle weeks of reg gun season. It would end all the "slippery slope" arguments. Guess it's just too simple a solution to have just 2 seasons.
  6. I probably have done 70% of my bow-hunting with a recurve. But killed 80% of the total with a compound. Shot selection is far more critical to me with the recurve. Far easier with a compound to thread tight windows, draw when head is hidden and hold for the shot, etc. Shooting the recurve is fun and something I just enjoy doing. No enjoyment at all with the compound - just sits there like a hammer until I have a nail to pound.
  7. And I bet if you ask bowhunters why they shoot a compound instead of a recurve, just about everyone would give an answer that basically says because it is easier
  8. Maybe ban let off too? Lets you draw when the deer can't see you and hold until it gets clear.
  9. 20 feet in the air or in a pop up few deer will see you draw. You think the blinds and stands should be banned? After all, with your logic, they make it too easy.
  10. Vince - I understand now. Good luck and have a great season.
  11. My post wasn't directed toward you. But I have to ask about the part I highlighted in red. You plant to hunt some property whether you get permission or not? That's what is sounds like. Not being posted does is a far cry from permission.
  12. I'll help them too. Just ask they contact me prior to hunting - especially if they are setting up 50 yds from my house. I can't imagine every dropping the string or pulling the trigger without knowing I have permission to recover within a reasonable average distance. It's called being prepared and respecting my neighbors - concept possibly foreign to some here.
  13. Glad it worked out for. Posting this could be a good thing if some see it as a wake up call.
  14. 30 would be a long shot most places. Are they heavier arrows available? That could help with the noise. Trajectory wouldn't be an issue - still way flatter then my 185 fps recurve.
  15. Just like scouting, hanging stands, shooting, sharpening your knife, etc, recovery rights should be sought long before the season and certainly before needing them. Shooting a deer is only the start of and a small part of the end. Recovery is the goal and probably the most important.
  16. I haven't threatened anyone with harm. Try again.
  17. No, actually most would ask and most here I respect. A handfull - not so much. So - how is this being tough again?
  18. Tough? How? Just don't tolerate entitled disrespectful people.
  19. Legal or not, anyone setting up 50 yds from my deck without talking to me 1st will never recover from my property. They will get the same respect back they offer.
  20. Outstanding journalism there. Less then 1 minute with Google image search debunks it. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/11/21/cougar-fatally-shot-near-western-illinois-town-of-morrison/
  21. Anyone comment 1st hand on the noise difference between cam and recurve models?
  22. I' looking forward to putting one on the deck, go to work, and come home to having a deer hanging in the shed. I hear it is just that easy.
  23. file:///C:/Users/Steve/Downloads/HANDOUT_-_Effect_of_Xbows_20131107-1.pdf No change in Pa.
  24. http://file:///C:/Users/Steve/Downloads/HANDOUT_-_Effect_of_Xbows_20131107-1.pdf Pretty much no change in Pa.
