Governor Announces Support for Crossbows in NY
SteveB replied to Tinlodge's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Still didn't answer my question. How are you going to feel letting that deer go unrecovered when you knew that was a possibility beforehand when setting up 50 yds from the owners deck? It's not property lines - most of the discussion is about those wanting to set up at close as 50 YARDS to someones house in a suburban setting. If you do don't bow shot deer are going to travel of the less than 5 acre spot you have permission, you have not killed many deer with a bow. -
Just a single layer leather tab. Use a deep hook - first crease.

And how are you going to feel when you shoot a deer 150 ft from the anti's house and they don't let you retrieve it? Going to be proud of that kill? -
Its 500 ft from the building - not from the property line.
-
I feel like a broken record - you can NOW hunt closer than 500 ft. It simply requires the same permission that one would need anyway when a dying deer makes it that 150 feet to the neighbors land and you want to recover it. Nothing needs to be changed.

I just meant the firewood crews don't pay much because of the labor needed to access and process. I'm sure they make money, but the value to the logging company or the landowner could be more about the cleanup. Instead of firewood, all the residual could be chipped to be used in large biofuel heaters. Convert some state owned buildings (state collages, maintenance facilities, etc) to utilize the fuel. Would take some initial investment and planning, but would definitely have a payback with a real renewable energy source while managing the state lands. The technology is out there and being used.

I don't believe they pay much for tops and would have no interest in the pine. Gutchis Lumber logged our 200 acre hardwood lease this year heavy and just left all the tops. I think it is more of a cleanup service - Gutchis won't be back for 20+ years so no cleanup was needed.

They did several areas a few years ago in the Frozen Ocean by me. All mature pines - was a desert underneath. Great habitat now, but it has changed patterns. I don't think the price of the pine is that great - it's more about opening up the area the way it should be.

Will the neighbors let you recover? If you sat in the middle of that 2 acres, how far is it to a neighbors building? -

150 foot law will not let you recover your deer from under their swing set. Anyone setting up 50 yards from my living room window without asking for recovery before hunting will watch their deer lie there. -

So we want the state/county to operate a high fence hunting operation where the goal is to produce and maitain recessive gene mutants for viewing and trophies? -
Unless it's the agents listing as a broker, they will be splitting the commission.

Their entire existence is the result of manipulation by man - nothing natural about it. A nature preserve there would be nice - but man made genetic freaks should have no part in it. -
Trump for Governor ?
SteveB replied to JimR's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Someone able to run a financially sound government has more in common with a successful businessman than another lawyer or community organizer. Not saying Trump is the one, but I would rather candidates come from the business sector rather than legal. -
Why would you not buy them at the shop you are going to?

Looking for suggestions for a software program for a 3D league. Anyone know of or have something other than the $150 one at Lancaster? Thanks

You don't "hunt" behind a fence in NY. You go kill livestock.
-
Don't think you want to be too close the next morning.

Joe - I don't believe "accepted by the state" necessarily means legislative action as in passing a bill. But I don't know for sure.

Sounds like the only forum you will ever be happy with is one you have full control of. Where your definitions of stereo types, racist behavior, ethics and just general right and wrong would be the only allowed ones.

Don't mean to talk for Bubba, butI imagine he meant he would contact him to voice displeasure in the senate even attempting this. That is what I am doing. Not to comment on whether or not to support the proposal.
