  1. A large number of landowners who grant access for the snowmobile trails will not allow that access until after hunting season. The snowmobile clubs will fight any attempt to extend the hunting seasons and further delay the opening of the trail systems.
  2. I got a nasty virus from photobucket a couple years ago.
  3. I am saying that points based AR in my area will do little to nothing to save 60% of the 1.5 bucks and nearly 80% of the 2.5's. Instead it will target them.
  4. Shoot a buck around me in CNY based on it having 6 points and you most likely have shot a 1.5 buck. Even better chance it isn't older then 2.5. Points based AR will have little to no statistical impact here so please stop advocating it statewide.
  5. Not going to read the same stuff again for the umpteenth time. Just hope this ends in the SE region and doesn't spread to CNY and west. Here nearly 60% of the 1.5's are 6pt or better - close to 80% of the 2.5's - both classes are young immature deer. Targeting them with mandatory AR's will have little impact on anyone's ability to see more truly mature 4.5+ bucks.
  6. Butchered one yesterday that had been hanging since last Sat evening in my barn. It was fine, but the temp never got above 40 and I put ice in the cavity to cool it when 1st hung.
  7. Fair game unless the owner tells you to go - and this could happen while recovering a deer you shot. Not sure why the the concept of "if I don't have permission, I don't go" is so hard to grasp. As much as the 70's attitude is missed, that is not what it is today.
  8. I know a lot of farmers. I don't know any who have what they feel is a predator problem. Many might feel they have a deer problem in spite of hunting allowed on their land. But predator - no.
  9. For $98 you get fishing, small game, big game, bowhunting and muzzleloading licenses and a turkey permit and an entry into the dmp lottery. You can get the small/big game for $29.
  10. Predator Brown sized XL - VG condition. New from Gray Wolf http://www.graywolfw...1&cat=19&page=1 would be $370, plus these are I believe double knee and butt. $195 shipped - very warm.
  11. Try calling and talk to them about a group hunt. They used to be willing to deal.
  12. You have to have honor before you can defend it. Anyone driven to disrespect a cemetary, the people buried there and their families by trampling on graves or risking damages to monmuments has none.
  13. 6/8 pt that is a 1.5 is the same as a spike/fork that is 1.5. I don't understand the willingness to shoot a 1.5 6 to 8 pt but pass on a spike or fork? Personally hold for one I feel is 3.5 or older - number of points has nothing to do with my decision to shoot. That said, shoot what ever you want that is legal.
  14. He shot a nearly tame animal on a cemetary - that is fact. Felt the need to get that deer strong enough to trample on graves to accomplish it. Wrong and disrespectful to the people buried there and their families. If I had family there, they would be hearing from me. A deer shot with an arrow can do a lot of damage in its death run - the fact that markers where not tipped over and damaged is just plain luck. There are some places that should not be sport hunted - a cemetary is one. Someone who chooses to do so reveals all about their character I need to know.
  15. Then according to you, I should not be hunting. And farmers should not be slaughtering their animals for market. The day I feel regret, empathy, or sorrow over cleanly killing an animal - farm or wild - will be the last time I do it. To me, those are negatives emotions and I cannot understand why anyone who felt that way would seek them out. I've been killing animals (never watonly) for over 50 years for food and pest control and am comfortable about not ever feeling sorry about one of them.
  16. Changed my mind - I now see walking up to a nearly tame deer in a cemetary is a huge accomplishment that should be glorified by all hunters. I am going to look for some of those special underhunted places myself now like schoolyards, churches and walmart parking lots. Will post hero shots when it works seeking congratulations.
  17. They have - and same as the internet, there is never any real physical proof. One did pass thru and got killed in Ct., but with 100's of reported sightings, not once has anybody come forth with any backup at all. Not once.
  18. Please post the pics - no one ever has in spite of how many claim to have them.
  19. This is a family site - the language should be cleaned up out of respect for all the members.
  20. Legal - yes. Something to be proud of - not one bit.
  21. 100grns of BH209 with a 300gr Nosler Partition in the harvester short black sabot.
  22. Adds to the scent confusion. Your link talks of attractrants. It is neither a scent reduction or a scent cover(which do not exist).
