SteveB replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Bow Hunting
A lot of people in the country have dwelling that are less then 500 ft from their property line also. -
You need a small game lisence.

Deer shot illegally at Hortonville Cemetery with a crossbow

I'd also be interested in seeing a target someone shot at 50 yds at night from inside a vehicle - heck a video would most likely be entertaining. -
Deer shot illegally at Hortonville Cemetery with a crossbow

As others said, why could they become if they are not now? Anyone in the state can own one now. tell me you base your opinion on having researched states where crossbows have been legal to hunt with and you have the figures that prove they are the poachers weapon of choice. Looking forward to reading the reports. -
1st fretta I ever tried - a chore to finish even in my prime!

No - can't convert. They use an auger to feed to a burn pot, a blower for combustion, and a fan for heat circulation.
-
Woodstoves heat with radiant and natural house currents, so heat transfer is more gentle and objects(people) are heated. Forced air systems are just that - mechanically moving the air. Think about where you sit in the summer to cool down - in a breeze or in front of a fan. I've been building, servicing and selling woodstoves for 35 years. Love the heat, but like the convenience of a pellet stove these days. But I think everyone needs to go buy a new one this year

You should be getting your wood now for next winter so it seasons properly - that means cut, split and stacked. This coming winters wood should have been done last summer. Should always be a year ahead minimum for most efficient and safe burning.
-
Sorry - came across as a bit of a challange.

You wanted opinions - I gave one. Thought that was the point of a discussion. This is the line where I would visit supporting an early primitive mz season. I would not if it includes caps - in fact would be actively against it.
-
Sorry my fingers get ahead of my brain and I didn't finish my response and posted it anyways lol. I would support a truly traditional season (no inlines, or capguns). I saw mention of capguns being considered traditional? Whats the thinking about that? I usually think of a traditional muzzle loader as one with a flint?? CNY I agree with CNY - caps where a huge step forward in learning, curve, reliability, and ease of use.

I make a gallon for a couple bucks. Use it liberally for all oders even gas and oil etc. Great for washing hands after processing venison, fish, onions, whatever.

Proposal to extend the time period for harvest reporting

Online is a piece of cake. You can see what tags youv'e reported and which are open still. -
The list for Cayuga County has a processor that has been closed 2 years and stopped participation a year or 2 before that.
-
Between myself and family, there is never any extra. Also not a lot of processors anywhere near me even though all they are allowed to do is grind it all - a fairly easy procedure. I know that a few years ago, the local foodbanks could not give out anywhere near what they took in. It was not oversupply - it seems few of the clients have any interest or willingness to take it.

I doubt very much it was BH. It is tiny cylinders - all pretty much identical to each other from top to bottom with no fines like most all powders. It is not intended for 11 cap's - hence the name BH 209. It was designed for magmum 209 ignition and is a progressive burning powder.
-
100gr volume of BH weighs about 70gr. Means you get about 63 shots per container. It is extremely consistant as well.

;D ;D Got to go check the oil in my horse.

Got 2 for 7J today. -
Blackhorn 209 is a great powder, but will not work in all guns.

I really think the type of broadhead can make a huge differnce in reaction. A blinding sharp 2 blade cut on contact will slip thru so quick that often there is little reaction. Multi blade and large cutting expandables are felt far more and can trigger the mad dash. Of course hitting the off side leg or anything that prevents a pass thru makes them run too.

Powerbelts, especially the lighter ones, are infamous for blowing up at even slightly higher charges - best kept at 80gr max with T7. They are very soft lead with a thin coating to cut back on leading. And too expensive for having these limitations. Far better options for less money. If you want to continue with them, I'd use the 295's and site in 2" high at 100. This should allow you a solid kill holding dead on from zero to 150. Anything longer, practice and learn your holdover and use a rangefinder from the stand.

I've got the tripod model - only good for the ground, but excellent for that.
