YES, there are wild mountain lions living in New York. Please show us picture of one or any other hard proof. Would be great to see the 1000's of claims finally verified and back by the first real bit of proof.

The comments you are making in the original post are just as inflammatory if not more so than the video. If you are going to condemn people for what they do, be prepared for the fallout. BTW, I am neither agreeing or disagreeing with canned hunts. I am still staying out of this subject. WNY, who was I inflammatory to? those who support illegal/unethical canned hunts and illegal baiting reply #3 was ad hominem Your original post did not say anything about illegal hunts or baiting - it stated all canned hunts and baiting where wrong to you. So which is it?

send letters for crossbows in NY

That's what I've heard too. Welcome Jim. The bill allows the xbow, but not in the bow season and does not start until 2011. -

A couple threads just flat out disappeared Sunday afternoon. Does anyone know what happened and/or why? Have not been aware of this here on the new forum. Thanks Steve -
Flintlock, from what I hear, takes dedication and is almost an art. Once you get to caps, whether sidelock or inline, ignition is more of a given and far easier to learn and get proficient. My thoughts are keep it primitive to lesson impact and have a better chance of getting the season. I am not speaking from experiance other then having several 11 cap inlines. But my understanding is in Pa, the numbers where stable for a long time when it was flinter only.

I would be willing to entertain truly primitive flintlock only.

Use a linesmans belt for installing the stand and sticks - safe and like having a 3rd hand.

Steve - what do you really think? ;D -
Again, I have never wondered if the animal in front of me (Ted's spike) was legal to shoot. If there is even a shred of doubt, I don't shoot. Someone who has a national stage preaching law and order and responsible sportsmanship does have a responsibility to know what he is doing. Especially when he has a history of actions contridicting words - and Ted's is solid there.
-
I am saying I have never shot an animal that was not legal to take - especially big game. Anyone pointing out Ted's negatives is simply stating the glaring obvious rather then wearing blinders. His attitudes and self image are carefully crafted to sell tothose of similar mindset - not to present a positive image to support sportsman - preaching to the choir. We don't need to worry about the anti's - they are about 10% (same as us) and not going to change their minds. We need the support or nuetrality of the 80% who are fence sitters and among them Ted is not viewed as a positive.
-
Don't shoot a spike - not that hard to understand. One of the 9 original charges before he was allowed to plea bargain. He did not admit a thing - he was caught and then came forward. Kind of like when he had a son with another woman other then his wife in the 90's and ignored him until a judge forced him to pay minimal support. No one needs to drag him down - he does agreat job of it all by himself.
-
Couple local guys tried the Atom's - they where not impressed. One spined a doe and knocked her down. He put a second one dead center lungs pinning her. Only had 2 arrows - after 10 minutes she was still alive so he had to use his knife to finish her.
-
Don't hunt from trees or no family?

Read about this fine group about 40 minutes south of me. : http://www.savethedeer.org/ -
Pretty much what the DEC officer said at the bow class I helped with last weekend. Your percieved intent is what influences them the most - along with attitude.

Lower the legal shooting distance for bow????
SteveB replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Bow Hunting
If an owner doesn't want you shooting within 500 ft, there is also a very good chance he will deny you recovery rights as well. I assume everyone gets recovery permission from their neighbors before needing to insure they will be able to legally recover a deer after killing it? -
The most serious charge was shooting the spike - which was bargained down. No case can be made for not knowing what is a legal animal before shooting - especially from a law n order, master sportsman that Ted sells himself as. The 2 charged where the landowners - related to Ted's cameraman. And they all recieved lesser fines. Links are hard to get as most of the major forums are deleting the threads.

There where 2 others charged with him.
