  1. And that would be equal to 30 minutes before and after in the real world. for the most part anyways. No yotes back then and had all kinds of small game and some say yotes have no impact on game. Riiight! I may be one of the younger old guys at 51 but still remember a few things.
  2. Get out and beat feet now to try and talk to landowners for hunting next year. Go out and ask to yote hunt to get your foot in the door. Offer a hand this summer on a farm for just a weekend or two of hunting. You can get alot of good hunting land this way. Farms are getting huge now a days and many will jump on your offer. You will get some No's but it only takes one yes!
  3. I say if you enjoyed it then go back and do it. You have heard cops say they will not enforce it so you should be able to do the same. You will just have to bite your lip and do a fair job for all involved.
  4. Makes one think that buck would have to be behind wire. I have seen that pic of the buck next to the posted sign somewhere before and i believe it was in a high fence write up somewhere but not 100% on that one.He has done alot of good research on deer behind fence thats for sure. Almost impossible to know that is the same deer without a tag or marking of some kind and 3000 acres is a very big haystack to find that needle and then get pics for that many years. Would be cool to do even behind fence, to watch and record a buck living that long.
  5. To get the wife on board to buy the camp and land down in the Tier next to the one we were just blessed with. A guy can never have enough property these days and it will still have its value when its moved along to the kids or grandchildren!
  6. Scary thing is some of the ones that say they would not shoot 1-5 minutes after sunset..Even in great safe light, could be the ones that would shoot even in a low unsafe light condition, Just because its legal.
  7. Sucks you didnt get him whole but man that is a great buck right there. At least the doubt is now out of the picture for ya and you get some kind of closure. Great Buck!!!!
  8. LOL..That call would do about as much good as some fool calling a tip line saying that a farmer is shooting yotes on his farm whenever needed. Nothing would ever come from it. I dont believe the post said it has ever been done but said it could be done if needed. Many on this site like to read things into posts and assume many things and we all know what happens when that starts.
  9. Like i said...Just a perk if needed. Its like people that get on hunting forums and think that because they dont use their name, someone cant find out who you are. Every post comes from an address from your computer and shown to the right person that address will lead anyone thats in the know right to the name and address of where that computer sits. Anyone can be found. Real quick.
  10. In my case its having 3 different police officers that i hunt with and let hunt my property. Does not take much to get pretty much any info i would need to get on a person. Just a perk...
  11. So last night in Watertown they started the crow hazing to try and get them out of the city at night. This year they get to use atr guns and kill them. This is a first and will be interesting to see if any crow lovers meet the shooters downtown.
  12. Oh boy...You are going to get the 100 questions from the saints now...Why in woods so late..Was gun loaded that long after legal hours Do you know what time sunset is in Ny and on, and on... Glad you still had those numbers at the end of season.. That spells a happy 2015!
  13. Not me...If its 1 minute after Ny state law, my gun was already unloaded 37 seconds before that buck even showed up. Plus he does not fit the size slot.
  14. You have learned that many on here like to stretch things and make up some stuff to start a thread about or to start a pot to stir. You know..Like all the goody two shoes that say they do no wrong, live by every rule and are just all going to go to the best hunting spots in the sky when they pass...You can see the 4 or 5..Whatever...
  15. Maybe? But we are pretty well sold out every year now and if even half of the hunters that use the best...and still safe..time to hunt tried to book hunts ranches would have to turn them down! I would say by the sounds of it every time i sit in the woods, be it north or south, you would think there were no law and if the truth is known...there are some out there that do not know there is one. Good thing for Ny..and their harvest needs,,, that people push the envelope because it sure does sound like alot of deer pile up in those magical 30 minutes on either side.
  16. Oh you must be talking about the wasted 30 minutes you can see just fine before and after? I would say along with the hundreds but probably more like thousands of others that use those minutes. .Many agree!
  17. Nope not even the one who took an illegal deer off of private property. Our fines do nothing to deter people..
  18. Would have shot first and called second myself but the end result would have been the same. An arrow was much better death than eaten alive. Good for you.
  19. No book needed. Just truths and facts to back up the statements.. I have a Great Pyrenees puppy now at 13 weeks but he,even at full grown, could not effect the problem of 3-4 years ago. All out warfare with heavy does's of lead and a little Golden was the only cure for that problem. Problem Solved!
  20. Well,Well...Let me see. Here you have a guy that has hunted his 35 years of his life, plays on 1000 acres of land and is actually a hunter that has lived this crap. You on the other hand are on a website that is about hunting and from the looks of your posts, you are not even a hunter. More of a animals lover i would say. Look at all the threads you have started, including this one. Every one is about what and how people think about hunters and i have seen no posts in any harvest threads on this site or anything from you about even going hunting??????? So lets see if i can tell you a couple other stories..How about 3 yotes confronting a hunter and his young son while he was gutting a doe killed in early muzzle season.going as far as showing teeth, in the dark with a flashlight. That hunters name is Ken Noone and he is a Watertown Ny police officer that has hunted this farm before yotes and after yotes, You want to hear stories im sure he would love to fill you in. There are 3 officers that hunt this north farm so maybe you will believe them or do you not believe real life stuff and only accept what you read? Maybe you could call the lady that lives next door that let the family Boxer out the back door on his chain only to shut the door, walk back to the kitchen and then hear the dog banging and scratching at the door to come back in already. She found that a bit strange only to walk over to the door to open and have the dog come flying in with 2 yotes standing at the burning barrel looking at a mid morning snack. Maybe you could call the Fallow Deer and Sheep farmer that lives on the corner of our 320 acre piece that has had his animals shredded after they had dug under his fence on different occasions. Well hungry you say? Maybe but being it was early fall and you would thing the farm would be loaded with deer and small game at that time of year? Yeah right...Maybe if they had not already ate and chased them to hell and back. Maybe you would like to hear the story of a product called..Golden Malrin. Great product to deal with the unwanted's' You can read and believe all the science crap you want and i bet if you look real hard in your science book you will see where the white coats told us that when CWD came to a state their whitetail populations would be decimated....Yeah we have all seen that happen in the last 30 years huh? Do you think your science book was wrote after doing research on land that border 106.000 acres of un-hunted property for predator numbers to explode. As far as your last statement goes, you can call high fence anything you like...And from the looks of it you sure know nothing about them..But the thousands that hunt there every year will call it whatever they like while they are hunting there.
  21. Yes and look at like the 9th from the bottom. Illegal deer from posted property and only $500 fine. Yeah thats going to be a force to stop people.
  22. I guess one would not know a coyote problem until one had a coyote problem. Coyotes will decimate a deer population on a piece of property, one way or the other.
  23. Sorry but this statement is far from true in all cases. I tell ya what. Buy yourself a 760 acre farm across from 106,000 acres of military base that has no hunting of coyotes. We have had the same property for over 10 years and went from having deer and no yote problems to having 3 packs a night yipping on 3 sides of the property and having no deer. When the 365 season and poison control came on it turned 360 and now we have deer again and a population of yotes that can be handled. As oer tracks in snow anyhow. Yotes in numbers have a huge impact on deer, be it killing the fawns or just the chasing of deer. We wont even talk about what a yarding area looks like after the pack plays with them all winter.
  24. Hunting down around Letchworth this weekend and every deer we saw and took today were all in groups of 4 plus. One doe taken out of a group of 13. They are starting to get ready for winter areas for sure!
  25. Oh how true and i know many dont care about the high fence thing and thats their right but if you think for a second that there is no harm in one hunter telling another hunter what, where and when he can hunt, you are sadly mistaken. This is just another win for the anti's because now you have two groups of sportsmen at war with each other. Just another nail in the casket. And yes by having these contests does give hunting a black eye in the opinions of many, including hunters. A person is better off taking care of an over population of something on their own property quietly and their way.
