Went on a deer/turkey scouting trip today.Super windy and pretty cold.Came out of the woods in the first spot and found a damn tick on my pants. Please check yourself when you get out of the woods.Finding a tick this early cant be a good sign!!

Federal's "Flitecontrol Wad" is Da Bomb! (20 ga)

Very cool.I will be trying some of the 3RD degree after season. My 870 really likes the longbeard and the hevi shot and I have enough of that but from what I have been reading the 3RD degree sounds like a winner to me. -
I would bet the fisher is the turkey killer in that pairing more than the coyotes are. From what I have heard a fisher will get right in a roost tree and take out a bird.

Full grow turkeys,no I don't think they get man.Poults on the other hand get eaten by foxes and coyotes quite regularly.Coyote season should be open at least till may 31 if not year round. They are pretty thick in my area.We usually call in as many yotes as turkeys while turkey hunting. They really make your bunghole pucker up when they get behind you and you didn't know they where there!!

So do you think NYS will expand the crossbow season
MACHINIST replied to MACHINIST's topic in CrossBow Hunting
The only change I would like to see is the addition of crossbows to the bow season.I don't think having a open free for all season where you use what you want is the answer, when you look at it we have that know. Its called rifle season. You can use rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, pistol, bow and crossbow in it -
weird!!

I don't think I could tell the difference between a muzzleloader shot and a shotgun slug being shot.I'm pretty sure the rifle crack and that of a muzzleloader are a major difference.I had a friend that hunted one year exclusively with his smokepole and during opening day I could tell him apart from another guy in the same vacinity. You are 100% correct with the small game hunters though -

I can agree with both statements. While a crossbow isn't as easy to operate as a rifle or a longbow there is a difference there. Its personal preference when it boils to it.And the weapons we have now versus 50 years ago are like night and day.Just look at the compound, compared to a compound when they first came out our bows are like flippin wizardry magic compared to them.Rifles from 100 years ago...same thing. The whole spectrum in all our lives (including hunting) have changed so much that if we had to live lives like we did even 20 years ago 95% of our population would die from culture shock.Hell my wife wouldn't know what to do with herself without that damn facebook!!! -
Those 20's with the fed 7's are no joke!! From what I've been seeing on Oldgobbler they are lights out for 40 yards!!

Another BA vid!!! Boy that first dog looked awesome,to bad you didn't get a crack at him.Are you guys doing more turkey films this year? -
I like open patterns for all seasons.ASAT,natgear, mossyoak treestand and enigma I like the looks of.You can get the ASAT 3D suit for around 150 and that can be worn all year over your other cloths

I had micro on the last 2 sights I owned and then when I got a new sight last year I didn't think I needed it,what a mistake.Micro adjust make sighting in and fine tuning a hell of a lot easier and more enjoyable that without. Its worth the extra bucks IMO
