I usually carry my rifle with me when scouting for turkeys and deer.I have one farm that has had 1/2 changed hands so I will have to see if the new owner wants them killed.I imagine he will he just farms the land and one spot has been messed up by the grass grizzlies pretty bad

Absolutely,you owe it to the game your chasing to know your weapon and what it can and cannot do.I know some bownuters like that.They blow the dust off of their bow the week before season and they are ready after flinging a dozen arrows.

Because it is archery equipment,Most states are that way also.I enjoy bowhunting,I shoot 3D all spring,summer and fall,but its a great thing when you try a new way to hunt.At best I feel a crossbow is in between a regular compound and a muzzleloader,so if they feel that a crossbow is comparable to muzzleloader and rifle because we can use them in those seasons(all of the season) then why cant we use it during the whole archery season with them allowing us to 2 weeks.I guess I don't get the way they are implementing it,unless they are just getting the crossbows foot in the door sort of thing.

Been thinking about a crossbow more and more.for the price I wish you had more time to hunt with them that is allotted to NYS hunters.Just wondering everyones thoughts on if you think they will expand the season sometime soon or is that all she wrote folks?

Thinking about the deer I have killed I can count on one hand and still have fingers left the times I've shot a deer over 100.Most of the time they are 75 or less

I'm worried about this late cold weather for hens nesting.I know I have read that is a big time population killer when the cold stays late and makes nesting difficult

as long as the child wants to,my daugther showed interest in hunting for the last 3 or 4 years.She loves to go with me scouting,setting stands and being in the woods.She went through her hunter safety and 2 times last year one during the special youth turkey hunt and another a week later I had turkeys within killing range and could see it in her eyes that she didn't want to for her,she was going to kill a turkey for me.She was almost in tears when I told her it was OK if she didn't want to shoot one.SHe let the gun down and said "Dad I cant do it,I don't want to kill anything" Now before anyone judges,she eats venison,turkey,some fish and has had frog legs and knows where meat comes from.She knows that animals die to get meat.I know some people push kids into it that don't want to do it.That shouldn't happen and neither should another person push an adult to hunt.If you have someone interested in hunting put the invite out there.Tell that person how much fun you have and if they want to go great,if not please don't push the issue

Currently on the last or 7 years I have 2 youths and 2 adults I have gotten into hunting that wouldn't have hunted.I talk to alot of people all the time about hunting also

350 and 80 pound I would shoot that,My friend borrowed his friends scorpyd when we went to maine last year on a bear hunt.That crossbow flat out shoots like crazy.I never knew why someone would spend that much on a crossbow till I shot his.Super nice.I just wish NY would open the entire season for them.Its the only way I could justify spending that much

I had a brute force 750 now i have a 800 Polaris.I would say the BF had a touch more oomph but the ride goes to the Polaris for sure.I think Polaris makes a great all around machine
