^^ correct^^ and wow, i thought i was the only one who was up at those hours... -
just get her a bunch of them, they are fairly cheap and can be customized, and if she finds one she really likes this week it might not be her favorite next week, especially in the beginning. but its a good idea to go with the smaller ones like you mentioned or even cut n trim full size ones with a scissor.. i have dozens of them and am down to using maybe 3 or 4 now, as you might well know already, because you probably use them too.

I think part of huntings popularity drop is the lack of necessity. But as Doc stated if it ever becomes that needed part of life again the deer numbers couldnt sustain that need for long with population growth in upstate NY. All depends on what degree of necessity. Back in the 60s we were a poorer nation and putting that deer, and a bunch of bunnies in a freezer really helped out. Seems like we are headed for a slow and steady decline(I hope not), no telling what the future might bring for our sport. But one thing for sure, we face alot of obstacles either way right? From a technology standpoint I dont know, I see walkie talkies are obsolete, heck im even texting my hunting partners in the field now.

Hunting in 50 years, wow could be one of the most necessary functions in life way before that. When exactly did hunting become a sport, i think the transition started when i was a kid back in the 60s. And if it becomes a necessity again will people stop bashing us for it?

Target practice in Brant ,NY goes wild
sits in trees replied to mark3885's topic in General Chit Chat
Since Cuomos safe act i have noticed that pretty much all the rapid fire shooting in my area has stopped, could be the cost of ammo, or people just dont want to draw attention to their neck of the woods. But the other night at about 10pm i heard a nut out there either bump firing of with a full auto shooting away in the dark, maybe a form of protest or something. But the local ammo burners have pretty much settled down. I often have to wonder when im out chopping wood and hear rapid firing by the hundreds of rounds if each and every one of those rounds is ending up in a safe place? -

Anyone else here - scent free all year?
sits in trees replied to nybuckboy's topic in General Chit Chat
I have never been sold on the whole scent free thing, I do my best to set stands where the prevailing winds will carry my scent away. With a deers power of smell its almost impossible to remain scent free, we sweat hiking to our stands, we store our boots and gear in areas of the home where they will pick up some kind of scent, then we spray scent killer all over us after eating a pepperoni pizza for lunch and walk out there like we're the invisable man or something. -

ahhh, time can be a pain in the butt, till you run out of it. -
good to be positive but but when towns and cities go bankrupt and the revenue needed to pay pensions is gone topped with another major crash bigger than the one we had in 08 ( predicted by the same people who told us about that one years before it happened) you might be in for a surprise. advice, take your pension and buy gold.

The people are rising up and taking a stand, Pine Bush NY eliminates 36 teacher positions, Minisink Valley eliminates 22 teachers, Monticello 30 teachers get the axe. Its finally starting to happen and its gonna get alot worse fast. The teachers unions have an unbreakable strangle hold on NY's towns for too long.

We are getting very close to closing a school in my distict and eliminating 22 teachers positions. A major victory for the people of our town to help hold the line on the ever increasing burden of school taxes.

The prediction is the city of Rochester will be the first to fall in NY state due to the unsustainable financial burden put on the people by teachers pensions. The city is said to have less than 2 years before they default. This is the 3rd largest city in the state folks? Others will follow.
