I've been saying for a while it's just a matter of time before they get to Long Island's east end where they can dine on corporate welfare scum. Or maybe they are just passing through to states with a higher percentage of "welfare scum" like South Carolina.

I lived through 12 billion in cash disappear in Iraq (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=cash%20disappears%20in%20iraq). Where was the outrage then? Oh I bet you'll say you were outraged. But I didn't see it at all. Even in NYC with the huge liberal base it was a non story. Poo poo-ed as the sort of thing that happens in war. I was outraged then and I'm outraged now. Billions disappear and no one accountable. The problem with politics in America now is that it is no longer really about your ideals is it? it's more of a team sport and you'll love your team no matter what and hate the other team. Sure your team is the same, exactly the same, on 99% of the issues. That will never matter because they are the other team. Here's where politics has gone off the rails. When you go and set your team lineup in this fantasy league you have created, instead of choosing the player with the stats you choose the player with your heart. Does anyone here really believe that we should have a financial system with no rules or watchdogs? Or a chemicals industry with no regulations? Does anyone here believe that it wasn't strong unions that created America's middle class? Are unions perfect? no? but neither are the companies they are paired to. I am no lover of unnecessary government spending but if the highway maintenance tax does not keep up with inflation well that's just math not a tax increase (as an example). Do you know why we as a country are willing to spend billions in another country but won't pass a bill to fix the over 15,000 bridges on American primary and secondary roads that need immediate repairs or replacement? One doesn't need congressional approval and one does. One is unfunded, and one needs to be funded and the stupid friggin' tax pac that all those idiot republicans signed it will never get funding and so your road crumbles and your bridges fall. Open your eyes to the real issues that face our country, stop selling your country to the corporations and oligarchy! -

Please clarify. Are the cops losing their minds because they aren't aware that cameras are more ubiquitous than ever. Or are cops losing their mind and shooting unarmed people? Are the cameras the problem? Or is the militarization of our peace keepers? Back to our regularly scheduled thread... Boo Hiss Hillary!! blah blah blah Damn liberals! -
I am 100 percent with you on this, and have often carried out trash here at Otis Pike and Sarnoff. Since I have to return to the ranger station at the end of my day hunting I often bring back a bag of trash and put it in their trash bins. My other pet peeve is shotgun shells, Since it's pheasant stocked land and heavily used i picked up over 300 spent shotgun shells and 10 unspent ones in one afternoon alone.

Actually the biggest complaint we get from homeowners especially on the east end of LI (or any home used for vacation, hunting or weekends only) is people breaking in and using the house as a hang out for a few days. This usually happens during the week in the evenings and considerable damage can be done to the home itself. While they may not steal much I have seen several thousands of dollars of damage done. Too bad they call us after the damage is done.

I install home theaters, home automation and home security systems. Home alarm monitoring can be had for under $10 bucks a month (my home in Suffolk I pay $4.99/mo). The trick is to go directly to the monitoring company not an installer who brokers the service. Home security relies mostly on deterring rather than capturing. With this in mind the main deterrent is cameras cameras cameras, but wait you don't have to buy ALL real cameras, a few real cameras and a boatload of fake cameras will do the trick. At LEDwholesalers.com you'll see solar powered motion activated LED lights, but i am sure you can shop them around. Light coming on at night is never a good thing for thieves. Any security system can be defeated so the idea is to make it too much effort. In the case of someone who is not smart or does not care the real cameras will capture evidence for the police. Remember only in the movies can you zoom in and read a license plate. HiDef cameras are expensive but even one well placed (covering the only driveway) will be worth the price. Unfortunately booby traps such as pits filled with bungee sticks or the shotgun with string pointing at the door are illegal. Additionally if the property is large you should give some thought to the approaches to the house. Creating open space near the house that makes thieves uncomfortable crossing is good as is creating brush piles at the fringes of the open area to force certain lanes of travel which are covered by cameras and/or lights. Let me know if you have any questions.

Target shooting in a state forest?
EspressoBuzz replied to fadetoblack188's topic in General Hunting
In two different places on state websites it states "no promiscuous shooting" and "Firing for the purpose of sighting in you weapon is allowed". You have to really comb through not just DEC hunting regs but State land/forest regs. -
I wasn't planning on coming to your utopian state, I was planning on holding the door open for you so it won't hit you in the ass!

I see this as a symptom of our modern food chain and not religion. We are becoming more and more removed from where and how our food is raised and butchered that natural connections we would make between the farm and table are being lost. My mom and dad raised rabbits in Brooklyn and I helped them with everything from feeding, mucking out the cages to butchering and portioning them. I saw nothing but respect for the animals from my parents and pride that they raised healthy (& happy?) animals. In Italy I helped with the chickens and hogs too and I have come to appreciate the toil and dedication farmers have. The further we get from how our food is raised the more we tolerate abuses to that system by big agra and create people who are ignorant of where their food comes from.

Woman Charged With Killing Hunter's Falcon to Save Duck
EspressoBuzz replied to mike rossi's topic in General Chit Chat
People like that have no idea of the work and regulations one must commit themselves to in order to acquire, train and maintain a bird of prey. The money investment alone is significant and it takes an immense amount of time. I very seriously looked into it exactly 20 years ago and decided it was easier to have kids! When I am gifted the opportunity to witness a bird of prey make it's living my first reaction is wonderment not wow I should go there and bludgeon that bird! -
Great Job Mike!
