  1. Shanks are shanks Football roast is Sirloin or Sirloin Tip Ground is ground Next is Top Round Hidden Tender is Eye of Round Last is Bottom Round I might have the top and bottom rounds mixed up, Also I cheated and consulted Steve Rinella’s post “How to Butcher a Deer” from his website. I always use the names you use too.
  2. X3 on pics and description. I have not done this, can't say it is currently on my radar either. I would like to try winter camping for a weekend. I might survive that!
  3. I just sold a 2014 Polaris Sportsmen 500 for $500 over Kelly Blue Book and I think I could have got $500 more than that if I asked for it. I also sold a 10 year old landscape trailer for $1100, I think I paid $1600 back then. New ones now go for $1800 if you can find them. Covid has really pushed the used market of practically anything sky high.
  4. Sorry to hear that Fletch, looks like she is eating good though.
  5. Your should jump on that Starweld, it looks about perfect and decent price too.
  6. I went there when they had hot dogs on the menu, thinking they would be flame broiled like the burgers. Wrong. BOILED. Ugh.
  7. Wow! Looks like it came out great! I love it on dark bread with sauerkraut, spicy mustard, a thick slice of Swiss, and if you have it Russian salad dressing. Also good chopped up and made into breakfast hash. Oh, man I just saw a football roast today, I’m pulling it and making it this week!
  8. Some good news! And an awesome gesture by whoever made it happen. BK at the hospital would lift almost anyone’s spirits!

    Beer

I got my beer after I put together the venison chili for later on. Tomorrow I will make lentil soup for good luck in the New Year. Tree House DIPA from my niece. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  10. Hopefully over quickly and not to unbearable.
  11. Happy Birthday! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  12. I have several peach, plum, cherry and apple trees here. Some years are great, some I have nothing, so much depends on the spring time weather, and what the weather is close to picking time. I would go for the 5’ trees, I think they have a higher survivability rate, and a fruit tree may take 4 or 5 years before it produces any significant crop. Try to buy local if you can, check with some local orchards, they may sell you some. I have bought some stock from Stark Brothers, they are pretty good. Basic needs are a spray for fungus and a spray for insects. I use Bonide “Fruit Tree Spray”, which covers both. The instructions are very simple, but there are basically four times to spray them, during dormancy, at budding, at flowering and at fruit set. You will want to fertilize too, either tree spikes, or drill holes into the ground at the drip line and fill with granular. I never did learn the proper way to prune trees, but I have only killed one so far from that. I just cut off any dead or funky looking branches, plus any that are criss crossing, or any that are getting too far from the main trunk. Different types of fruit trees need different pruning methods. Google and read, and hope for the best, or get a pro to show you. (Wish my Father was still alive!) If you want to go organic you can. I don’t have much experience with that. It’s hard enough to get a decent crop to do anything with as it is. Good luck!
  13. Thanks Moog, I noticed. Not sure how heavy heavyweight is. I think I will go with the medium. Just trying to pick a good pattern for up in a tree.
  14. Just noticed you are in Central New York and close by! Welcome to HuntingNY.com We probably know a few of the same people, lived in Baldwinsville for 25 years.
  15. BINGO! Looks great and not too pricey! Thanks!
  16. XL on Ebay were listed close to $300. Someone has cornered the market on XL Pullovers! If I slim down so I can fit in a large, I'll have to replace my entire wardrobe!
  17. It's all in the training. Our Brit does not beg, my daughters beagle only does when we are done eating.
  18. Another vote for a Brittany, both as a hunting dog and a family pet. Sweet, obedient, tenacious in the field, a great overall hunting dog. I would not classify then as a water dog, but they will take to water if trained early. There is a very good breeder in Rochester that has strong hunting lines. I’ve had two of his dogs and love them. They are the perfect “medium” size too.
  19. I checked Basspro Utica in store stock, no XL. Not sure how accurate their inventory system is, I am guessing it sucks based on recent experiences with BPS and Cabelas. It is end of season after all, I will just keep looking at it and get it before next season. I’ve got 10 months! @Pygmy I am sure my wife would have a grand time with you at Truning Stone, I don’t really care for the place, but she likes bingo and the slot machines. Remember what they say about someone else’s wife, no matter how hot......”somewhere there is a husband bitching about her”
  20. Utica is not too far away, less than an hour. Maybe my wife would like a few hours at Turning Stone.
  21. I wanted to get a Cableas Wooltimate pullover with a kangaroo pocket to use in the archery season. My size, XL, is out of stock. Wondering if there is a good (or better) substitute, or should I just wait until inventory comes back? I want the kangaroo pocket so I can keep my hands in there without having to use a muff and I like the quietness and warmth of the wool, plus the hood. Sitka has nice looking pullover, but it is $450!
  22. @mlammerhirt If it were me, I would take that bacon off of it, tie it with butchers twine every three inches, Put a little red wine or water in the bottom of the pan, just enough to cover it, and just bake it in the oven at 400 until it reaches 125 internal temp, guessing 25 minutes or so, maybe less. Use a digital thermometer. Let rest 10 minutes, slice and serve. If you really want the bacon on it, remove it for the last 10 minutes or so so the meat has a chance to brown up instead of steam in the pork fat. Again., IF IT WERE ME.
