I gotcha beat....I once farted upwind of a one acre patch of thorn brush and killed 4 grouse, six rabbits and a woodcock...A turkey buzzard survived, but he was flying very erratically when he made his escape...

It is only a joint if you DO a Doobie....Or so I've heard..<<whistling>>... When I was a GOOD BOY, one of my lady friends used to tell me..." You are a GOOD Doobie !!".... That would be like if I brought her flowers or something...She would not tell me that if I farted and pulled the covers over her head...
-
I tried to be a GOOD Doobie, but you guys had to get me started....<<sigh>>….

Do you know what 85 year old beaver tastes like ??….DEPENDS......

An Alabama beaver trapper named Hollis.... Used possums and snakes for his solace.... The children had scales and prehensible tails.... And voted for Governor Wallace....

I stopped worrying about self-esteem years ago....Besides that, I'm 69 going on 70.....<<GRIN>>….

Old beaver tastes great, as long as it has been cleaned properly... I have dated several grandmothers....Hehehe...

Everyone has ONE thing that they do well.....Many a rose blooms unseen in the forest.....<<<SMILE>>>….

Sorry to disappoint you perverts, but I'm going to play it straight this time... A trapper friend of mine used to save me a skinned and cleaned beaver each season, since I was always cooking up fish and game and taking it in tp work.. I would trim all of the fat off the carcass, place it on a rack in a blue porcelain roaster, dump an envelope of Lipton's Onion Soup over it and roast it, covered, until it was fork tender.. The guys in the shop loved it...Kind of reminded me of well done roast beef...

I was at my desk in the office area ( prairie dog town) of the Research Facility I worked at... Everybody was glued to their computer monitor.. When JFK was shot I was in 7th period study hall in junior high....The teacher was a prune faced old lady named Mrs. Barrows who was rumored to come into the local stores high on vanilla extract on occasion...

A true classic....Elmer is my hero..I replay this evry few months and laugh every time... I wonder how Bubba and Growie are doing ?? It sure would be nice to hear from them...

Congrats to you and your betrothed, My Friend.. P. S. Don't trust Turkeyfeathers...He drinks weird beer......Hehehe....

I love the BT 99 as a trap gun....However, as Airedale said, it is good for very little other than shooting trap... Since I no longer shoot trap, I'd try to swap it for something I could hunt with...
-
Interesting Wolc...I never shot a skunk with a shotgun....I plan to set a few traps for coyotes and bobcats this fall..If I catch a skunk ( which is very likely) I'll try the shotgun...
-
Hopefully, Pepe' le Pew has moved on......That would be the best result, because TRUST me my Good Friend, if you kill him on your property you WILL have a big stink for quite a while...Back in my trapping days I killed a number of skunks, and never figured out a way to kill them without them spraying as they died...Shoot them in the head and they spray..Shoot them in the body and they spray...Club them and they spray....The only way I know to get them out scentless ( and it is a gamble but usually works) is to catch them in a live trap, approach them VERY slowly and deliberately, place a blanket over the trap, and then take them , VERY slowly and deliberately, to the nearest pond or creek and give them swimming lessons, in the trap and at least a foot underwater...

I would be all for a baiting season....I have no desire to shoot a bear for their meat or their pelt, but they are a pain in the ass on the property....I'll kill one if I see one during season just to get rid of the SOB... I don't want to waste good meat, so I have talked to a couple of guys who would take the pelt and the meat, if I should shoot one...

I'll send Moog right over...
-
Good luck, My friend !!….I know what you are dealing with... If push comes to shove, one shot dead center mass right through the sternum should settle it... Oh.. Wait a minute....We're talking about the BEAR, aren't we...??
-
Congrats, Dan !!! Keep it up and before long you'll be nothing but pecker and eyeballs.....Hehehe....

Most complaints about squirrel recipes is that they are not very tender... Here is my go to recipe.... Clean and disjoint ...I discard the ribcage and neck and end up with 5 pieces, the 4 legs and the back... Dust the pieces in flour, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning...Brown over medium heat in butter.. Place pieces in a baking dish ( I use a 9 x13 foil pan)….Slice up an onion or two over the meat..Fill the pan to perhaps 1/2 full of chicken broth...Cover and bake over low heat 280- 300 F) for about two hours...Uncover and turn up heat to reduce liquid and brown meat … Make gravy from the drippings if you want...The squirrel by now should be brown on top ,very tender and literally falling off the bones.. If you don't like that you are not American....<<grin>>….l

None of the squirrels I shot today could have been shot with a .22 ,( at least not by ME) and certainly not a pellet gun.... They were in the tops of 50 foot high hickories, and running from limb to limb,,, Later in the season, once the leaves are down and the squirrels are feeding on the ground, the pellet gun might get the job done...Good luck...

Actually, at 9:00 AM I thought I might be skunked....Not a LOT of nuts, but some cuttings lying around and I could hear cuttings dropping from the HIGH hickories and knew there were squirrels up there feeding.. Still, all I could was the occasional leaf moving... I finally identified a tree that had several squirrels working the upper branches...Moved back very slowly until I could see some of the upper limbs....I could tell by the foliage moving that there were several squirrels feeding.. I finally got a decent look at one and shot him....Within 5 seconds I shot 2 more, because they started abandoning the tree...Fun shooting....fast and instinctive shooting at squirrels running limb to limb... By 9:30 I had six on the ground and went around to pick them up...Found 5 two blacks and 3 greys.. Could not find the 6th..He may have been.. just stunned and crawled into a hole...Happens sometimes... Not a single bot fly larva in any of them...

Clean them in the woods...I can do 6 in about a half hour.....Come home, maybe have some breakfast...Meet my good buddy Pete at the Legion shortly after noon and perhaps play a few tickets......Life is GOOD !!…...

I am going to check my favorite hickory grove tomorrow morning at sunrise...It is on State park Land and is a full 5 minutes from my house... Due to the heavy foliage, I'll be carrying my 1936 vintage Winchester M12 16 gauge with 1 oz. loads of # 6 shot....
