  1. I was there....I was the only survivor...I was the guy up in the bell tower of the Alamo with an M-1 Garand and several thousand rounds of ammo...After the Mexicans cleared out, the locals took all of my empty brass, melted it down and used it to build the first bridge across the river in San Antonio....True story.....Hehehe....
  2. Nope......My sleazebag Uncle took it out of my Dad's woodshed back in the 70's and probably got 2 or 3 bucks out of it at a yardsale… I think he got my Mattel " Fanner 50" too....
  3. I aced 'em for sure....My elementary school lunch box was metal and square, with actions scenes of Davey Crockett on both sides... One side was " Davy Crockett Indian Fighter", and the other side was " Davy Crockett at the Alamo"... I wish I still had it... And DRIVE IN MOVIES.....Hehehehe….Spent MANY a night in both the Corning and Bath Drive Ins.... I HEARD lots of movie soundtracks there....
  4. I'd stick with the Weatherby....You must have me confused with Dinsdale..He's the Blaser guy.... I never laid eyeballs on one except in pictures...
  5. Neither would I, Stormy...You should try just showing the deer your new scope mount..They may just die laughing and save you some ammo...
  6. Is that your 4 lb. shotgun that you plan to shoot 3" slugs through ? Hold my beer and WATCH THIS !!…..Hehehehe….
  7. Sounds like a typical date when I was younger, except for the KNIFE part... Called getting a little "tail"....
  8. Dang, Goosey....I'm salivating !!!
  9. I started lake trout fishing in the 1960's....For about ten years I fished a Seth Green Rig out of a wooden box with a screen across the bottom....Dacron line, bronze " whiffle tree" 3 way swivels, mono leaders and flutter spoons..I used mostly Suttons, but also had good luck with Quick Strikes, Clark's and Miller's... I did not use a rod, but held the line in my hand..I used a moveable leather strap on the line to save my fingers, and also to mark the depth ( length of line) that I was fishing....Used mostly 16 to 20 ounce sinkers and five leaders.. My Keuka Lake rig had 10 foot leaders and 12 foot spacers, and my Seneca rig had 15 foot leaders and 20 foot spacers... My biggest trout was a 16 lb. 12 oz laker that I took from Keuka on Sept. 15th, 1975...It took me a full half hour to land the fish, playing it completely by hand with no rod or drag to cushion the fight...
  10. It opens the 25th here, too...If I get one, there WILL be pictures......
  11. I was just going to say...He reminds me of MYSELF when I was younger.... Only I called it TROLLING..
  12. It's OK, Paula...I'll be a GOOD boy..... I had candied smoked sockeye salmon in Dillingham Alaska, in 1999, and it was wonderful....The people who owned the air charter service that I hunted with also commercially fished for salmon in the summer....It was no doubt the best smoked salmon I have ever eaten..
  13. Thanks again for the pickle recommendation..You're not going to be like Bill and Stormy and change your name once a week are you ??….<<grin>>….
  14. If the kid killed it locally, it could easily be Campbell, Savona, Thurston or maybe even Bath...
  15. INCREDIBLE buck, Rob....Congrats to the young fellow...He and I might even be related...Dave Higbie, who lived on the Campbell/ Savona back road, was my Dad's cousin....
  16. Nope....More likely between 110 and 120 if that... Short tines, not much mass...Nice buck, but not a high scorer...
  17. Sounds like a cedar to me, Bill....That stuff is everywhere in the area where I hunt gobblers in Ontario...
  18. For many years I hunted out of" The World's best Treestand", which was a 100 yard strip of woods/brush that connected big woods on both sides.. My stand was right in the middle, and any deer sneaking through that neck was in good shotgun range..I killed about 40 deer from that stand...
  19. I grew up on my Dad's 187 acres in Tuscarora Township, Steuben County, about 5 miles south of the village of Addison... That is where I first hunted deer 54 years ago... Dad passed away in 1994 and my Mom sold the farm...
  20. I have taken mustard for cramps MANY times..It has never failed to work...In fact just this morning about 2:00 AM a cramp in my thigh woke me up...A teaspoon full of French's Mustard and it was gone in less than two minutes.. I have never tried to use it as a preventative because I don't really care for it, but it sure works as a cure
  21. I have a pretty decent oven salami recipe that I got from an Outdoor Life magazine article years ago....I'll send it along to you... Since my computer savvy is very low tech, send me your address via PM and I'll send you a copy of it in the snail mail..
  22. Yeah, I have been reading up on it and watching videos...Now I have a reason to shoot a couple of those mergansers I always pass up opening day of duck season..Wings and feathers...Hehehe....
