Reminds me of a joke... A woman has a pet Schnauser and is tired of trimming him, so she decides to try some NAIR hair remover on the little pup.. Shes rides her motorbike to a drugstore, goes in and takes a bottle of NAIR to the counter The druggist tells her..." That stuff is very caustic....I'd advise using it half strength on your legs and quarter strength on your underarms".. The woman says " You don't understand...This stuff is for my SCHNAUSER"... The druggist replied, " LADY, if you put that stuff on your SCHNAUSER, you won't be able to ride that Honda for w WEEK !! "....

Good point, Mike....A clean kill with every squeeze of the trigger is my goal....

I'd like to kill two 1.5 year old deer for the freezer... Other than that, my goal is to have a safe and enjoyable season, and hopefully spend some enjoyable days on the property with my friends and perhaps see them kill a deer or two also... Another bonus would be to see someone shoot one of the PITA bears running around up there....

A friend of mine was up this week from NC, so we went up one evening to sit in my tower stand overlooking my clover plots... We arrived about an hour before sunset...We flushed seven deer out of the plot when we walked in 2 were bucks...They didn't stick around long enough for us to evaluate their racks, but we could easily see antlers at 200 yards as they ran out of the field.. Soon after we got into the tower, deer started coming into the plot at the far end.....Five bucks and seven does....No wallhangers, but one 8 point would measure perhaps 100 inches, a handsome buck that is probably a 2.5 year old... I hope they keep working that clover, but the acorn crop is awesome, too, so who knows what might be happening come gun season....Still, 19 deer in a six acre plot ain't too shabby....Hehehe...

For many many years, I walked into the woods in total darkness, and walked out in total darkness....Never was afraid for a second... What is there to be afraid of ?? Boogeymen...?? Sassquatch ..??... Now that I am a doddering old fool, I am much more afraid of slipping or falling down and being incapacitated.....I don't go into real ROUGH country any more in the dark, simply for fear of falling and getting hurt....I still may walk a mile in or out morning and evening in full darkness, but it will be over a planned route, and I'll have my cell phone with me just in case...

Happy Birthday, Jay....!!...

Is that dude for REAL ?? If he parked on my street and started walking up to my house, I'd SHOOT him before he got halfway up the driveway....

Who needs to bait..I just hide behind an oak tree and make a noise like an acorn....

Weasels are predators and I can't think of any reason they would hoard pebbles...I don't know what kind of a critter you are dealing with, but I'd bet a sixpack that it is some kind of a rodent or mole rather than a weasel.. Looking forward to your trail cam picts...If it is a weasel, I'll buy you a sixpack

Happy Birthday to Bill... Happy birthday to Bill.... You're the BEST turkey hunter on the hill... HAPPY BIRtHDAY to BILL !!! -
He was at least double the size of those cubs, about the size of a good sized Labrador retriever.. I'm guessing he's a yearling.. He looked like an adult bear only small...Didn't have that "cubby" look about him... He's certainly big enough to survive on his own.. Something could have happened to Momma, too...Last month I saw an adult hit in the road not more than a mile as the crow flies from where I saw Boo-boo yesterday..
-
I was looking for her, Jerry !!.. He was alone,..,the woods were relatively open there... Are bears mating, now...??..Perhaps Momma was out waltzing around with some black stud...
-
Be careful Jerry....Seems like I by read somewhere that more people are killed annually by deer in North America than by any other animal, and they weren't talking about traffic accidents.. Spike buck or not, he is a very strong wild animal...

There's your cue, Bill !!...

I was out squirrel hunting this morning on some local public land... I was standing in a hickory grove, watching the trees when I saw a movement off to my left... There was a small ( perhaps 50-60 lb) bear walking right toward me....I watched him until he got about ten feet away and did not seem to see me or change course....I pivoted a few degrees toward him so that my shotgun muzzle was pointed toward him...Another step or two and I could have touched him with the muzzle... Boo-boo saw the movement and bolted, but only ran about 20 yards...The wind was right and he could not smell me...He walked across broadside in front of me and then continued on his way... That is the closest I have ever been to a live black bear in the woods..Pretty cool..I'm going to have to start carrying one of those silly phone/cameras you guys all have, just for such opportunities..

Squirrel slam....Does that mean you have to get a grey squirrel, a black squirrel, a fox squirrel and a red squirrel ???
-
Either you have huge hands or that is the shortest 40 inch musky I have ever seen......

Hehehehe...Do you really think Bill could GET into mid-air ..??….Hehehe....

Please don't call me Joe Biden or I may have to have Bill lay one of his Kung Fu moves on you... I will admit that occasionally one of my posts is a phallusy......

Also, I must add that this happened after a full night of binging on chicken liver, anchovy and limburger tacos plus three full orders of marshmallow cream corn willie fritters washed down with Genny Cream Ale....

All my witnesses were dead, except the turkey buzzard, and I don't think he made it too far..He was going down in a glide and I think he crash landed a couple of fields away... The sad part was that none of the grouse, rabbits or the woodcock were edible... Tore 'em UP too bad......
