  1. Just relying on my musty old memory, which is NOT too reliable,,, but I believe that when handguns were FIRST allowed in the Southern zone, the regs stated that they must be .35 caliber or greater, with a barrel no less than 4"..... However, I do believe the current regs allow ANY centerfire caliber, with no restriction on barrel length...
  2. I have a box containing a number of older knives and sheaths..They have been stored in The Mermiad's garage under less than ideal conditions, and the sheaths have some mold and mildew, and some of the knifes do too, along with some oxidation issues.. I want to get them all cleaned up,... Any tips from you knife guys out there, like Lawdwaz and Airedale any anyone who wants to help ??
  3. Could have been years ago, Craveman...I believe now that any centerfire handgun is legal....
  4. So your Mom's not busy that night..?? I don't have anything going on that night either...I'm guessing she's about my age or perhaps a little bit younger....<<SMILE>>...

  10. To quote Groucho Marx... " How he got in my pajamas, I'll never know.."....
  11. Well trained troops could reload in a second or two....I doubt that the PING had as much effect as some think it did.... You gotta remember that the Germans and the Japs were both using bolt action rifles that had to be reloaded with 5 round stripper clips...
  12. He may have used two hands, but the Big Chooch only needed one....<<smile>>...
  13. I'll have to dig out my Garand bayonet and see what markings are on it... I have a Jap bayonet that my Dad brought back from WWII, complete with scabbard and frog...That is attached to my Type 99 Arisaka on display at my Legion post...I had another Jap bayonet that I wish I hadn't parted with..Swapped it for a bayonet and sling for my K98K Mauser...
  14. That was years ago...I think my seed needs to be re-inoculated......
  15. Department of Civilian Maksmanship…. Govt. agency that sells surplus military arms such as Garands and 1911s...I think you need to be a member of a gun club to qualify for one..I'm sure you could find out on Google or from one of the firearms knowledgable members here, such as Chef, Rattler or Airedale...
  16. Check into the DCM Garands..Last I knew you could get a pretty decent one without breaking the bank..
  17. Good point, Moog !! I just happen to be making some venison chili this afternoon from a deer shot from your blind, with your gun, and your bullets, which you so kindly loaded for me...Not to mention you took both deer back to my truck and then loaded them in for me ….<<SMILE>>...
  18. WE only got about 4-5 inches of snow here in Dogpatch, but now we are getting freezing drizzle on top of it... I think I'll stay off the roads until tomorrow....
  19. In the past I have always planted clover with my fall plantings of wheat, oats, brassicas, etc. but last summer with the crappy weather I was lucky to get the wheat in..I have about two acres that got plowed and never disced because it started raining and never stopped..Gonna have to deal with that this summer IF it ever dries out enough to work....<<sigh>>….
  20. Thanks for my offer, but my partner who helps me on the property has one...That's what we do all of our seeding with..Works good....2 acres is a lot for an old short fat fart like me to hand seed...
  21. Provided I can get the equipment on the property, I'd like to try frost seeding clover on one of my food plots next month.. The plot I want to seed is about 2 acres...I'm open to suggestions from those of you who have done this before... What kind of clover have you planted ? How much per acre ? Any tips ??… The plot was planted in winter wheat last November...
  22. If a cannibal ate a clown, would he taste funny ?
  23. That was a GREAT gun shop....Lots of quality used firearms at reasonable prices...I loved going there... I bought my S&W K-22 ( new) there in 1974...I wish there were gun shops like that around here today..There used to be several good ones in the Corning/Elmira area, but Ray's was one of the best..
