A friend of mine had a good job with a local industry....He was very talented and good at his job...He was also quite headstrong and opinionated and was prone to say just what was on his mind... He got canned from his job a few years before he was eligible for retirement... After he got fired, I asked his brother what happened... His brother said " You can only tell your boss to go **** himself SO many times.." True story.....

I have been on many hunts when some members took a bow and a gun,,,,Nearly every time, they hunted with the bow for a few days and then killed their game with the gun.... On only ONE hunt in northern Quebec, the bow guy stuck with it and killed two nice caribou bulls, as nice as any the rest of us took with our rifles.... The only pig hunting I have done was free range, and they were damned hard to get a shot at with a rifle....Never did any canned pig hunting..That might be different..Good luck, Pilgrim.....

I haven't seen any yet this spring here in Dogpatch, but they are due anytime...I suspect they'll show up next week with the warming trend that is predicted, along with some redwings and perhaps some cowbirds..

I remember the first time my ship pulled into the Navy base at Mayport Florida....Rather than common crows, they had fish crows, which are somewhat smaller than common crows..They also had boat tailed grackles, which are larger than our local common grackles ( called purple grackles back then)…. I made the comment to one of my buddies that down there they had grackles the size of crows, and crows the size of grackles...<<grin>>...

Correction...Those are not crows, they are grackles....I believe they are the boat tailed variety, which is slightly larger and has a longer tail than our local common grackles...

My favorite was one of the first... The Dick Kirby Grand Slam....I literally wore it out.... A few years ago I replaced it with a Bucklick Creek vest...OK, but not the vest that the Grand Slam was..I took the thin seat off it and use a foam pad, attached to one of the shoulder straps with a Velcro strap... IMHO, the most important part of the vest is a good, rugged game pouch to carry your bird in..Makes a big difference when you have a couple of miles to travel back to the truck over rough and steep terrain...

She was upstairs in bed....I wondered since why the deputy did not ask to have her come downstairs, due to the circumstances... Perhaps it was due to the fact that I was obviously lucid and co-operative...Also, maybe he didn't want me to get out of his sight because I might have another gun...
