Two doors down the street there are 4 Amishmen replacing the roof on a house today.. Chill factor must be about minus 30... Say what you may about the Amish, they are some TOUGH sobs.....

I split a $100 square with a buddy and I am on several $1 and $2 boards...Been playing them for many years and never hit anything big..I think I split $500 once and that's the best I ever remember doing..Usually I feel lucky just to get my money back..

Suckers are excellent canned and made into fish patties/cakes...Another way to do them is to filet them and then score the filets into appx 1/4" crosshatch, leaving just enough meat on the bottom of the filet so it stays together in the fryer/pan.. The frying softens the cut y bones so you can chew 'em right down...Also works for pickerel that are too small to bother with y bone removal.. Suckers taken from cold water in the spring are very sweet and flavorful.. I have tried carp several times and never could cook it so that it tasted very good...I removed the lateral line?mud streak, etc. but the carp always seemed to taste like it SMELLS when you take it out of the water..Hehehe..

Back when the pike fishery was booming on Seneca Lake I did something similar...I would filet the y bones out of the filets...The boneless meat went into the frying pan, and the y bone strips went into pint jars in the pressure canner..The canning process dissolved the y bones and the product made excellent fish patties....

On a fishing trip in Ontario a few years back, one of my Canadian buddies brought two smoked pike filets.... They were some of the best smoked fish I have ever had...They were smoked with the skin on and were nice and moist...The y bones were still in them, but due to the texture of the meat it was easy to pick them out.. I would not hesitate to smoke pike, but I would keep the skin on and the temp low to avoid drying them out..

Also, consider that many people who live in remote places consider bears to be pain-in-the ass varmints, much like FSW considers coyotes.... When I started fishing up in Quebec in the early 60s, there was no closed season and they were shot on sight.. I am in NO way condoning the actions of these goobers...Just sayin' if you lived in these areas you might feel differently about them...

As disgusting as I find the crime, I find the judgement fair... Three months in jail, perhaps 30 grand in fines and property confiscation, and 10 years without a hunting license.. Perhaps y'all would just prefer to hang the poor dumb bastard... People kill PEOPLE in this country and get off cheaper than this guy did.... As for the kid, I agree that he got off light...A factor in this judgement might have been that he was under the influence of his father..

Everything I own says either " Carhart" or "Cabela's" on it.... Except for my " Fruit of the Looms".....

I went with a friend one morning a couple of years ago to check his trapline...One dirt hole set had a dead coyote in it...There was no snow so it was difficult to find tracks...When he skinned it, he said it's injuries were bite marks and if had definitely been killed by another animal/animals... We guessed possibly a bear, but after watching that video I'd lean in the direction of other coyotes...
