That is incorrect.... The knees are the first to go...First the right knee, then the left knee, then the WEE-nee.... The memory is next...What were we talking about ??.. -

New to Wellsville / Allegany & Steuben County area
Pygmy replied to Glen's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
There is an outdoor writer who lives in/around Wellsville and goes by the name Oak Duke...He may be able to answer some of your questions...He seems like a decent fellow, despite the fact that he is not nearly as good looking as I am... -
Oh yeah...There's THAT.....Hehehe.....

Time for a group hug..... Larry 50 MM objectives look like s**t and throw off the balance of a nice handling hunting rifle... Only a pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse would put one on his rifle.. Other than that, I have no opinion on the subject.....<<GRIN>>.....

My new one is a Lodge, and it is a great utensil... My old one ( circa appx 1973) is retired for sentimental reasons and was probably hand forged by Fred Flintstone...Next time I am out in the garage I'll take it down from it's place of honor on the wall and check out the manufacturer.. I'll call Lawdwaz around 1:00 AM some morning and let him know who made it...

I could never understand why anyone would want to hunt deer if there was good duck/goose hunting available... MUCH more fun.... And my favorite game meat is a nice, fat, mallard or black duck.... They are also a lot easier to carry home than deer and the decoys are lighter...

Condolences.......

Interesting....I haven't shot much of anything with centerfire rifle ammo since the mid 1970's...At that time I shot perhaps 4 or 5 deer with Rem Corelocts in a 7 x 57 and a 25-06... ... They worked fine..... I haven,t shot a game animal with factory loads in about 50 years...Several of my rifles have never had a factory load fired through them... The game I shot with the Rem factory loads expired promptly, but that was years ago... For many years my go to bullet was the Nosler Ballistic tip, mostly in the .280 Rem...Nosler partitions performed well also but didn't group quite as good as the BT's... A few years back I tried some Barnes X bullets, on recommendation of some online friends....They were very accurate in my rifles and performed well on game...They are all I have used in my .280 and my 7MM 08 for the last 20 years or so...

Good luck..Hope you recover the deer... Don't be in a big yank to change chamberings.....44 Mag is definitely going downhill from a .243....30-30 is OK out to 150 yards or so....There are several chamberings that outperform any of the above without producing a lot of muzzle blast or recoil..A couple of them that come to mind quickly are the 7MM-08 and the 6.5 Creedmoor....LOTS of reasonably priced rifles are available in these chamberings.. -
I heartily agree, and I should know..I've dated a couple....

You can borrow one of mine..I'd recommend my mink lined one in December... -
My Mom and Dad both served in WWII..Dad was on a Navy destroyer from 1943-1945 and saw a lot of action in the Pacific..At one time he never set foot on dry land for 6 months....Took on fuel, supplies and ammo at sea.. Mom enlisted in the army and served as an Army nurse in a military hospital in West Virginia... She outranked him when they were released from active duty..She was E-5 and he was E-4.....

Saw one buck (no tag) and one itsey bitsy, teenie-weenie little deer.... Can't hunt for the next three days due to a medical procedure.. Maybe later this week... -

I'm heading out for a 1:00 PM till dark sit...Hopefully they'll be feeding ahead of tomorrow's blow... Used my buck tag but I have an 8X DMP I'd like to fill.... -
Neither am I, Andrew....Many fewer bowhunters than gun hunters...I am the furthest thing from being "anti-bow"....
