  1. I was hunting a long way from the coast....South of Ft. Benning , right along the Alabama border... However I suspect that feral hogs are present in most of Georgia, including the coastal areas..
  2. Three events stick in everybody's mind and everyone who was around then remembers where they were.. Jap attack on Pearl Harbour... Not many of us around ( maybe Doc...hehehe) but many of our parents remember where they were when they heard the news... JFK assassination.. I was in Mrs. Barrow's 7th grade study hall about 1:30 in the afternoon when the news came over the school intercom that JFK had been shot... 9/11.....I was at my desk at work at Corning Inc's Process Research center when someone said the first tower was hit...Everybody in the office tuned in and watched the 2nd hit live.....
  3. You were only about 30 miles from my home.... I never hunted preserve hogs, but hunted free range hogs a few times in Georgia...Some of the best pork I ever had was from a 175 lb. dry feral sow... I have heard the bigger boars get quite strong tasting, but never tried one..Biggest boar I ever shot was 100 lb.. The meat wasn't bad but was beginning to get a little tangy...Not nearly as good as the sow...
  4. Mange is nearly always fatal to foxes...I have seen several that actually had live maggots living under thier skin...
  5. Hemingway is one of my favorites...In fact I did my 12th grade English term paper on him.... My personal favorite is " For Whom the Bell Tolls"...
  6. Mine works very well for napping in my enclosed, heated tower stand...
  7. Wolc..Your chair looks identical to the one I have in my tower stand...Got it at a yard sale for 8 bucks....
  8. I am currently using a Primos Bipod Trigger stick, and I really like it.... Prior to that I used a cheap set of crossed aluminum rods connected by an elastic cord...OK, but not as adjustable or user friendly as the trigger stick... There are others out there, like the Bog-Pod, that may work just as well as the Primos, but I haven't tried them..
  9. Get yourself a comfortable stool and shooting sticks/gunrest and they'll work fine..Just be sure to get them in position a good 2-3 weeks before season, because deer WILL shy away from them until they get used to them, unlike turkeys, which will totally ignore hem, even in the middle of an open field...
  10. For what purpose ..?... I have used them for the last 10 years or perhaps a little longer for turkey hunting, and they work well for that...They are quick and easy to put up and take down, and they are relatively durable and weather resistant... I have only used them for turkey but they would work OK for crossbow...There would be better choices for vertical bow... I get about 3 or 4 seasons out of one, barring unexpected damage ( I have had 2 destroyed by bears).....
  11. Very true....I had a 12 gauge fully rifled bbl for my Rem 1100 that wouldn't group Rem copper solids on a paper plate at 75 yards, but it shot little tiny groups at 100 with Win BRI standard velocity sabots...
  12. Happy Birthday, Good Buddy.....And happy 50th wedding anniversary to my ex-wife....Hehehe.....
  13. Good luck, Dan !! I wouldn't know a Norton from a Kramden, but that's neither here nor there... Hold on to those gorgeous Mausers...
  14. Good luck to youse guys downstate... Here along the Pennsyltucky Border, we just dodged the bullet...We were right on the northern edge of the storm and most of it passed south and east of us... Rained lightly all day, but no deluge....
  15. I was hunting hogs in Georgia a few years back, and my bullet went through the ribcage of a 100 pound boar and hit a 12-15 pound piglet right in the side of the head..I roasted it whole in a blue porcelain roaster and it was excellent....
  16. I was thinking the same thing, but I was up on the property this morning and the skeeters were horrendous.. Thinking now perhaps I'll wait until it cools down a little...
  17. So to make things even worse, you shot poor Buckles with a gun ?
  18. COMMIE BEER SNOB !!!!!....Hehehehe....
  19. Hey...!! For a schoolteacher, you make pretty good sense !! Spoken by one who was married to one ( and exposed to her peers) for 35 years....
  20. She's my NIECE....Really....No kidding.....Would I lie to YOU ??
  21. No issue with the chambering , or even the fact that it is bolt action...It's the scope... Fine for stationary targets in the open, but try to hit anything moving with it, or get it into action quickly in the woods...In a self defense situation, it would be basically just an awkward club...
  22. Cool.....BWLM....Black Woodchuck Lives Matter...
  23. A great choice if all you ever plan to shoot is prairie dogs....
