  1. Some pretty hot camo there, Girlfriend !! Love the hat..<<grin>>.... As petite as you are, you shouldn't have trouble finding a big enough tree to sit up against..That can be a problem with some of us old fat dudes...hehehe...
  2. It got a chuckle out of me..hehehehe....
  3. An Italian, an Irishman and a Pole were sitting at the bar discussing old times. The Italian said, " When I was a young man in Brooklyn, We used to hang out at a place called GUIDO'S. You'd buy two drinks, and the bar would buy the third. Every third drink was free"... The Irishman said, " When I was growing up in Boston, we used to hang out at a place called O'Malleys. You'd buy a drink, and the house would buy the next drink. Every OTHER drink was free." The Polock said.."That's nothing...When I was a young man in Buffalo, we used to hang out in a place called Kowalski's. The first drink was free, the second drink was free, ALL the drinks were free. And THEN you could go out in the back room and get LAID." The Italian and the Irishman expressed thier disbelief. The Polock said, " No, I SWEAR it's true...My sister used to do it every Saturday night !"...
  4. A man joined a monastary.. He took a vow of silence for five years, after which he would be allowed to say two words. At the end of five years he went before the head monk and said " Bed hard".. He went back into silence for another five years. At the end of second five years he went before the head monk and said " Food bad".. He went into silence for another five years. At the end of his third five years he went before the head monk and said " I quit". The head monk replied... " That comes as no surprise. All you've done for the last 15 years is BITCH"...
  5. Did you hear about the agnostic, dyslexic insomniac ? He lay awake all night wondering if there really is a dog.
  6. I've been meaning to procrastinate about my honeydo list, but I haven't got around to it.
  7. Minus 7 here in beautiful downtown Addison, NY.. I just saw a polar bear chase a flock of penguins across SR 417...
  8. It's colder than a nun's...Errr..never mind... I don't want to get on Papist's hit list...Sorry, Padre....<<blush>>.. It's so cold that this morning I saw a mink wearing a fat lady.. That shouldn't offend anyone except fat people...Ooops, sorry if I offended any lard asses....OOOPS... Did it again... Anyhow, it's pretty darn COLD out there..!!!
  9. I have never heard of cutting rifling in an existing smoothbore barrel, but I am no gunsmith. As far as using a cheap double as a slug gun, that opens a can of worms also..It would be be very difficult to regulate both barrels to the same point of impact..At the very least it would involve unsoldering/resodldering of the rib, barrel bending, etc. Sounds to me like more trouble and expense than it would be worth. Even it you could pull it off, at the end of the day you would still have a cheap shotgun, albeit with two barrels.
  10. The 7.62x54 certainly killed it's share of Germans ( and thier allies) on the Eastern Front.. It was the standard chambering for battle rifles and machineguns including those on armor and aircraft. The 7.62x 25 SMG round killed plenty too. If you watch war footage from the eastern Front, it sometimes seems that every other Russki infantryman is carrying one of those "Russian Guitar" SMGs...I have seen entire squads armed with them.
  11. The Garand may be heavy, but to those of us who grew up watching the series COMBAT on TV, it's a thing of beauty...<<sigh>>... They are sweet shooters, too, partly because of the weight. The small arms on the destroyer that I served aboard 1971-1973 were all of WWII vintage...We had about about a dozen M1's, half a dozen Thompson SMGs, 3 or 4 BARs , ONE .30 Carbine( must have been earmarked for an officer leading a boarding party) plus a dozen or so 1911 .45s. We also had a half dozen M12 Winchesters complete with perforated handguards and bayonet lugs. I'd like to have one of THOSE today... Oh yeah...We also had one Browning air cooled .30 cal. , tripod mounted.
  12. .....GIRLY MAN...!!!... Throw away that sissy pipe and roll a pack of LUCKIES up in the sleeve of your T-shirt....hehehehe...
  13. Shucks, Joe, I'm as RED,WHITE and BLUE as anybody... In fact, when I hunt with my Garand M1, I pretend the DEER are KRAUTS...LOL... However, I still love the 7x57, 8x57, 9.3 x 62 and others with that nasty MM label....hehehehe... How about supporting our allies ? Is it ok to hunt with the .303 BR in support of the Brits, Canadians, and Aussies..?..
  14. I hunted bunnies over the years with a number of guns, a 12 gauge M59 Win choked IC, a couple of 16 gauge guns choked mod ( too tight) 2 different 28 gauges and 3 different .410s. However, the gun I have used the most is a 20 gauge SKB side/side choked IC/mod with 25"bbls. For years I used reloads with Win casings and 7/8 oz. of #6 shot...Lately I have just bought cheap promo loads of 7/8 oz of #6 shot and they seem to work fine. I have used 7 1/2 shot and it kills well, but puts more pellets in the meat than I like. It is light, lightning fast, and kills rabbits very efficiently. Most of my rabbits have been killed with the IC barrel, probably over 90%...Sometimes for a long shot (over 30 yards) I switch to the mod barrel... I like your choice of a skeet choke ...If more hunters used more open chokes they would shoot a LOT better on upland game.. A hunting buddy of mine used a 12 gauge Browning A5 with a short barrel, a Cutts Compensator and a spreader tube for EVERYTHING, including waterfowl, and he was deadly...
  15. Think of it as a mini deer drive.... One guy busts the nastiest thick cover while a couple of others watch.. Great fun and good eatin' !! Low brass sixes and open chokes...All heavy loads do is grind up good eating meat..
  16. Joe...I hold you in high regard.. But "buck haters" was not a good choice of terms.. I don't think any deer hunter is a buck hater. I really don't see any disdain for guys who prefer to hunt bigger bucks, UNLESS they attempt to project thier preferences on other hunters through such vehicles as antler restrictions.. To make things very simple, if AR's are promoted by people who prefer to shoot only big bucks, these people are saying... " I prefer to shoot only big bucks...THEREFORE, everyone should be required to shoot only big bucks"...
  17. I love bunny hunting with beagles... However, if you have the right kind of cover, you can do well without dogs, and I have to admit, the shooting is great..Every rabbit is going Mach IV, and it is a LOT of fun to tumble a rabbit going full bore.. As water rat said, brushpiles are prime...The rabbits come flying out of them like they are shot are shot out of a cannon.. In any case, SOMEONE has to get into the thick stuff and kick them out.. You aren't going to kill very many without a dog unless you are willing to thrash the brush...
  18. If I had use use a gun that ugly, I'd give up hunting and take up needlepoint...
  19. You can give the 1100 to me.. I promise I won't tell a soul..
  20. DAMN !! That thing is as ugly as a side order of crap !! If I had a dog that ugly I'd shave his a** and make him walk BACKWARDS !!
  21. Funny !! When I was in Colorado this year I glassed a mulie buck running around with about a 3 foot diameter tumbleweed on his antlers..
  22. PERHAPS, G-man... And if the dog hadn't stopped to s**t he would have caught the rabbit...Hehehehe...
  23. Whatever....I feel that a cartridge's merits should rest upon it's abilities, rather than it's political origin... I mean....It ain't the poor 7.62x39's fault that it's daddy was a COMMIE....<<grin>>...
  24. I always thought that deer less than a year old were fawns, and deer between 1 and two years old were yearlings. Fawns, in my experience, are very tender but quite bland in flavor, like veal.. I am not a big fan of either, with the exception of osso buco, which is the only veal dish that I really enjoy... As far as deer go, I prefer deer that are 1.5 years or older, because they are more flavorful and yield more meat than fawns..
  25. Does anybody have a picture of Monica Lewinsky smoking a cigar ? Now THAT is what I would consider an interesting picture...
