Not THIS white boy.... I have a DEER to cut up...hehehehe....

SWEET rig, Wildcat.... I have a couple of 8 x 57s, but both are originals...A K98K Oberndorf 1938 and a M48 Yugo. You did a fine job on your custom rifle... A young fellow that I worked with a few years before I retired was doing a real nice job turning Yugos into nice little full stock sporters. I have wished since then that I'd had him do one up for me.

Congrats to your son !

I'll tell you the same thing I told Wooly... Didn't your GRANDPA teach you NOT to whittle towards yourself..??..

Give poor Belo a break.. He says he's been bowhunting 7 whole years.. He's GOTTA be an expert at scent control.. Not to mention a moral/ethical critic of those slimey "gun hunters"...

Stood on stand from 6:30 am to 4:30 PM..Saw 3 deer, two bambis and one nice buck that I could have killed easily, except I hesitated to count points, and missed my opportunity..Should have shot him..His beams spread well out beyond his ears, but I wanted to be sure he was legal...Size of his rack he was probably a nice 8. Went out to a hayfield just before dark, to wait for my buddies.. Two nice does came out at about 225 yards..I shot the bigger one.. Nice double lunger with my 7mm08 and 120 grain Barnes Tsx handloads.. No meat loss..

Looks to me like a grazing wound from a broadhead or perhaps a bullet with a flap of cut skin hanging down. The deer was broadside and the projectile clipped the brisket and opened up a flesh wound. As long as the chest cavity was not breached, there is nothing vital there. Unless he succumbs to infection, he will probably recover..I have seen several deer that survived worse flesh wounds than that and had healed over.

I'll be hunting in the morning near Nelson in Tioga County..The property I hunt there is about a half hour drive from my home here in Steuben Co. I had breakfast with Lawdwaz and his buddy Dave this morning on thier way to the border..They will be hunting near Tioga. I have two antlerless permits, a buck tag and BLOOD in my eye.... I haven't fired my rifle since opening day of NY and my trigger finger is getting itchy.

I have been accused of having a whistling bunghole once or twice.. Just the sound of that other stuff scares me.. I think they have some church burners and honkey lighters down in Fergeson, MO.... Maybe even a fuzz buttle or two...

Hehehehehe ! Cute kid, Treeguy... He must take after his Mom....<<grin>>....

Easy... Goober sees deer...Shoots it... Walks up to deer and discovers it has antlers..Bad news because he put his buck tag on a trophy spike opening day and only has a DMP. Guts deer..leaves vest and knife on ground.. Cuts off head to get rid of evidence.. Decides to remove antlers with his patented BOB VILA folding saw ... Saws off one antler..Starts to cut off the other antler, SLIPS and delivers a crushing blow to his testicles on the upstroke.... Runs screaming in pain back to his truck.. Bear comes in and drags off deer.. OP stumbles on scene... Seems perfectly clear to me...

Must be a Muslim deer.. Wearing underwear on his HEAD...

After gorging myself at dinner yesterday, this morning is likely to be a "Brown Friday" in the woods for me. My pack is well stocked with toilet paper.... I should be easy to track.

A cold wet muzzle...??... You must know my ex wife ..!..

Never had that happen.. However, GIs at Chosin Reservoir during the Korean conflict had that problem with hordes of mad, murderous Mongolians charging at them firing SMGs and throwning grenades.. When thier BARs were frozen, they PEED on the actions to get them going.. " There's a thousand gooks coming through the pass playing burp gun boogie all over my ass, I'm moving on.... I'll soon be gone.. Well it ain't no joke when your M1s broke, I'm moving on.."

WNYBuckhunter posted his deer heart fajita recipe last year on the forum and I tried it.. It's so good you'll want to SLAP yo MOMMA !! Previously I had sliced it, floured it and fried it in butter and I love it that way too... My Mom did it a different way..Simmered it in water with salt, pepper and bay leaf until done, then cooled it in it's own brine.. When cold, slice it thin and make sandwiches with mayonaise and coarse black pepper... Since NY season opens prior to PA season, I have often taken a deer heart sandwich or two for my lunch to eat in the woods opening day of PA rifle season..YUM !!

I love fresh deer liver...IMHO it is much superior to the liver I have eaten from domestic animals.. I only eat it fresh, though...Freezing it has a negative effect on the the texture. I'm also very fond of heart, and The Mermaid won't eat it, so Pygmy gets it all to himself. Never had the desire to eat any of the other innards.

She (He) was probably visiting from Ithaca.. There are lots of gender confused critters up there.

I have never seen a bear in NY during the open firearms season, but I saw one several years ago the first day of deer season when the bear season opened the first Saturday of deer season. I saw a HUGE one in PA a couple of years ago on the opener of deer/bear season, but I did not have a bear tag. Over the last 20 years I would estimate that I saw seen perhaps a dozen bears in NY under various circumstances..Several while turkey hunting and several from the road. I have seen at least as many in PA, including at least half a dozen while deer hunting and as many while turkey hunting.

Dammit Larry.. You may have inspired me to take my 9.3 x 62 down to PA next Monday and shoot a poor little dolly deer.... Should I use the 250 grain Barnes X or the 270 grain Speer semi spitzer..??
