I too was in English class but in front of the room at a brand new middle school school. I just started at this school with its new to me teachers, kids, policies, etc. we were instructed to turn everything off and were kept in the dark until one of my colleagues listened to a radio. I remember a parent storming into my classroom without saying a word and taking her child. That happened all day until every student was gone. Somehow this tragedy absolutely and inexplicably missed our school’s immediate family. I’m all good Fletch. Teachers are often placed at the root cause of so many things (not really this one but...) that are out of our control. Parents having more of a fear of the consequence for their kid at travel sports or elite teams as opposed to the classroom is a huge problem however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I eat pork and bacon and medium rare burgers from slaughterhouse cows that probably swam in their own “dodo feces,” a phrase beautifully coined by Michael Jackson when he was discussing his prison cell. I eat organ meat from deer and raw fish and hotdogs and worst of all White Castle as a nice treat! BEAR meat skeeves me out....period! It may be irrational; it may be foolish. Ouch-blindsided shot against teachers! Now ask yourself why are these coaches able to hold kids to hard and strict rules when teachers can’t? Because the parents dump buttloads of cash in their pockets and have greater concern about little Johnny being on the A team or in that program. Those “pay to play” coaches have been given free range to do what they want with or to your kid as you pay handsomely for them to do it. Teachers (especially public teacher) are easy targets and the employees of families it seems. Parents easily jump on them if and when expectations are enforced because my little Johnny would never behave poorly. We can’t throw little Johnny out of our public classroom like those high end programs do and keep your $$$. We are stuck with the snowplow mommy, always clearing obstacles from their baby’s path to make their life easier! Of course the “you” is not directly you Fletch....it’s the societal you! Good decision because it yours and your family’s. While he may be a great baseball player (and following him in the little league thread this summer was fun for me!) I would caution against the full focus on one sport advice. Not only is arm care and wearing out “baseball muscles” real, the idea of building a complete athlete is not typically possible when kids only focus on one sport. Coaches at all levels (especially college who have limited funds for scholarships) wants ATHLETES FIRST who have strong skills in the sport they are coaching. A talented multi sport athlete is more attractive than an equally skilled “one sport focused” kid. That other sport doesn’t need to be football but do look for another sport to develop other core strength areas and allow sport specific muscles rest. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
