If ALL nations did not allow flights in from these African nations, you wouldn't have to worry about our southern border. It has to be an international effort, and Obama as leader of the free civilized nations should have been at the forefront with this. That of course would be asking for too much of him for a number of reasons.
-
Let's hope you guys are right. I still can't understand the hesitation by our country or others in banning flights from these African nations. People claim that there are NO direct flights from this part of Africa to the US, but the agreement should be an international one where NO flights are allowed in anywhere. Surely banning flights to only one or a few countries probably wouldn't work. Hopefully we ducked the bullet this time out, but next time we may not be as lucky. Keep people OUT from these infected countries where the disease right now is running rampant and you pretty much have solved any potential problems. Easy common sense solution, but as usual it's way too much to ask for.

All I know is that this deer has a nicer set of teeth than I've seen on some hunters. LOL -
Burt, that video did MORE harm to me, than your arrow did to the deer. All the movement in the video made me dizzy, while absolutely NO harm was done to the deer. LOL Maybe you should put up a big TV in the woods where you can show the deer your shaky videos and get them dizzy enough where you can fling a few more arrows at them while they stand there nauseous. That might be your only chance to connect on one. LOL

Congratulate him for me for his monumental accomplishment!!!

LOL, I heard they got some really great deals on plane fares these days. I hope you guys are right. I generally don't buckle to paranoia from the left or the right, but there are too many unknowns with this disease for me to not think about the possibilities.
-
I'll risk getting Ebola if I can be examined by nurses in Playboy bunny suits. LOL Only the young pretty ones that is. The old ones can keep the spacesuits on.
-
I hope you are right. There seems to be 1000's of new cases in Africa everyday, however, so I don't think it will be completely out of the news so soon.
-
You make a good point, but we shouldn't forget that the two nurses who are now infected practically had spacesuits on and they still somehow got it. Some claim that their necks were exposed, but even if the neck was exposed, how much bodily fluids of that patient could they have gotten on their necks to get the virus? I think there are a lot of unknowns about this disease. Up to now it only occurred in Africa and everyone figured it was spread due to bad sanitation and traditional practices. Could be, but again there may be other ways that it could spread that no one realized before now. I find it interesting how they are comparing this disease to everything from AIDS to the flu, to a bunch of other things. This disease in my opinion is way worse than anything out there. AIDS didn't kill people as quickly and if you weren't promiscuous, you couldn't get it, and the flu may kill people in 3rd world countries, but in general most people who get it elsewhere, won't die from it. Ebola seems to be 70 % fatal up to now. I realize most of the cases have been in Africa that has poor healthcare compared to other places, but again it is vicious and very little is known to how to effectively treat it. For me at least, it will be interesting to see the outcome for the two nurses.

There needed to be an international agreement NOT to allow any flights out of the effected African nations as soon as the disease started to get out of control. Probably too late already, but this is the FIRST thing that needs to be done. I can't believe that governments are allowing people from those African nations in. Just mind boggling. Help should be sent to those nations, but NO one should be allowed out, period. Just wait and see what happens if this disease starts spreading in this country. Even just a little bit. Everyone with even a mild fever will be running to the hospital and what else is the hospital to do, other than to quarantine this person, and make sure they don't have it? If you think the cost of healthcare is high now, just wait and see what happens if this disease takes hold in the civilized world.

Holy JEEZUS, now that could be traumatic!! Only if there was a drum big enough to fit this lard butt. Hell, I'd pay $5 a gallon to fill it up with gasoline, so that he could soak in it for a while and have any tick drown in it, instead of me having to lift the many folds to try to find some on him. The horror!

Of course it can still be hunting camp. I sleep buck naked no matter where I am. Sleeping buck naked at hunting camp you get to have entire rooms or areas of the cabin all to yourself. No one dares to get too close to you. They are afraid of all the ramifications and innuendos that might be directed at them for getting too close to another naked man. LOL

You never, ever lied to her? Not even a small fib?? Anyway killing the deer in the yard wouldn't exactly be lying, it would just be stretching the truth a little. Just like when most guys tell their wives that they only drank milk at hunting camp.

The hunter needs to have at least his socks and pants on to be ethical. LOL

Grow, is there any part of you that hasn't been maimed over the years? I'm not trying to be a wiseass here, I am just amazed at all the injuries you've told us about. You're sort of like the bionic woman. Most all parts seem to have been either fixed or replaced. I myself haven't needed any real medical attention since I needed a couple stitches on a finger after I sliced it with a broadhead of all things. That was in 1993 I believe.
-
Anyone who thinks otherwise is really kidding themselves. That is why I think hunting has a much higher percentage of bad apples than other pastimes. Other pastimes simply don't have such shananigans happen nearly as often. Not even close!

Anti-hunter?? Did the guy figure he'd get the hunting season closed down in the area by killing a state trooper?? Some of you guys are something else. When a treestand or trailcam gets stolen, some will accuse anti-hunters. When you lose your hunting spot it's because of anti-hunters. A freakin anti-hunter couldn't find his way out of a paper bag, let alone find a hunters treestand or be able to elude scores of law enforcement agents for so long!

You and a few of your buddies have always been the first to jump on my butt for being vocal in my opposition to antler restrictions, so it doesn't surprise me that you were offended with the comments I made about people having the need to videotape themselves. Thank you for proving my point that you guy are generally one and the same.

The most inspiring thread I've seen on this forum in a LONG time was posted just the other day. It was Sogaard's thread where he took his twin boys on their first deer hunt and they BOTH bagged a deer. And on public land to boot. How much better than that can hunting possibly get?? I'll take Sogaard's great story over a hundred others of guys boasting about the 150 class buck that they finally killed after capturing it on trail cameras for the last 3 years!!

You guys notice that most of this stupid talk on TV is done by southerners?? Shows that are hosted by people from other parts of the country typically don't resort to such nonsense from the shows I've seen. I guess everyone wants to be a TV or internet star these days. Just look at all the people on this forum who talk about wanting to videotape themselves making a kill. I guess it's not enough to just kill a deer these days, they also need to videotape themselves and show it to the rest of the world. I will NEVER understand such thinking. From what I've seen, these people are generally the first to throw someone else under a bus for killing deer that don't measure up to their standards. To these people hunting is all about scores and measurements, and I for one feel sorry that they will never know how fulfilling hunting can really be. TV hunting shows have really messed up the views of a whole generation of hunters it seems.

I've been called a BID guy on this forum by a number of people for being against antler restrictions, so I take it as a compliment.

I have a Cabelas model that is something very similar to the one they are selling for $89 on your link. Honestly there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I've had it for about 3 or 4 seasons now and it works great for me. I process 2-3 deer a year and I don't grind all the meat up, so this unit is all I've needed. It's not industrial strength but it will get the job done.

Polling has become pretty accurate. If the spread was 5% or so, it can go either way. But with a 20 + % lead with less than 3 weeks until the election, Astorino needs nothing short of a miracle to win.
