  1. WOWSA!! Congrats to him!! Did he know this buck was around (sightings or trailcam pics)?
  2. I had a fawn come by me twice yesterday morning, shortly after first light, all by itself. It was bleating the entire time! Felt bad for it. I assumed the neighbor may have used momma to fill one of his DMAP tags recently or something. Being as inexperienced as this fawn is, it'll either end up in someones freezer this fall or a coyote will probably get it.
  3. Always neat to see! Thanks for posting.
  4. Nice! I started 10-12 scrapes last week. Within 24hrs, most had tracks in already.
  5. Very nice and good motivation to get you get out of bed in the mornings!!
  6. wheelie - Man that's gotta sting!! Sounds like you're in a good spot, so hopefully you'll get another chance at him! Just be thankful it was a clean miss, as the alternative sucks!!
  7. RITBlake - Congrats! Cool video!
  8. Oct. 1st (am hunt) - Saw one lonely fawn. BTW, I think a daily log would be interesting. I visit another forum (PA) and they make a new post each day and everyone adds what they saw that day. Neat to see how things progress and how not everyone is seeing the same activity.
  9. As I was pulling into my lane at camp at 5:15, there was a doe, 2 fawns, and a basket racked 8pt standing ~50 yards off the road feeding in the neighbors soybeans. I was settled into the stand at 6:00. I was just inside some woods, with a field on my left side. At 6:45, I saw a fawn all by itself, walking along the edge of the field ~25 yards away. If it had been walking inside the woods, I wouldn't have seen it, as it was still too dark in the woods with the canopy. At 8:25, I saw a deer heading my way. I got ready! As it got closer, I could see it was the same fawn, just headed back by me. It passed by at 8 yards, bleating/blating the whole time! I assume momma was probably in someones freezer with a DMAP # attached to it! I heard that the neighbor has taken out a couple of does using DMAP's. If he's so concerned about damage to his corn, he should be shooting the hundreds of damn raccoons that we have around destroying his corn, instead of the few deer that we have around!! Heading back out this afternoon when my son gets home from school. Hoping he can arrow his first one this year!
  10. Congrats! Always nice to get the first one of the year under the belt!
  11. Going to feel wierd being in the treestand on Oct.1st! Pretty historic! Good luck!
  12. Checked cams yesterday. There's a spike and a 5pt still hanging together, then there's a 6pt and an 8pt together.
  13. Saw my first rub of the year yesterday (9/28). Been looking too. I've also found 3 scrapes, 2 have just opened up since 9/27.
  14. Congrats!! A trip to remember, for sure!!
  15. YIKES!! Yeah, that's not quite what I would have expected to see inside one either! Sounds like you have the problem figured out though! Nice detective work!
