Free Treestand Safety Harnesses
Paulie replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
I think that I have 2 (but need to check as I forgot)...anyone near Pawling 12564 let me know. I definitely have one that I got with a hang on and I have used for 2 years (there is nothing wrong with it) but just bought the HSS one so i will not be using it anymore. I believe I have another that came with another stand i bought as well. Let me know if you can use one..........my wife would be more then happy for me to get rid of them as they just clutter the garage! -
Bubba, Everything is OK and aligns except the screws to mount the rings to the barrel are too small. I'm sure the gun shop will get it right....it's just been commical!!
-
Bubba, could i be crazy to think that the tapped the gun to only fit CVA and a few other mounts? I almost feel like it is a conspiracy to get me to buy there product as when i went online they had plenty to offer that fit, TC, Traditions, CVa etc.....we checked everything but the freaking screws to make sure the mount were ok with clearance, relief, etc....son of a ... Anyway, everything is at the gun shop in carmel, lets see what happens....ny hunter, thank you for the input. the gun was already dropped off by the time i read this. If the guy in carmel isn't up to par, i will go to Charlie....I hear the guy in Carmel is very good, just a little slow...although i still have some time so i'm not worried.

Ok, so I bought the scope at Dick's (which includes a mount if yo ubuy a scope)....my old man who is retired said don;t worry about mounting it, let just take it all home (as he doesn't want to leave a gun in the store) and I will mount it with my buddy along with the scope he bought. Well his scope went on fine! When he went to mount mine the screws for the mounts don't fit the holes that were already in the gun.......as soon as i talked to him, he said...ok, go ahead and say it!! "should have left the gun"....so he went to a local gun shop and now it's gonna take 10 days and he will see if he can get mounts that fit properly or he can re-tap the gun and fit it accordingly.....I dhould have just ordered the mounts and scope from CVA!!!

Ok so I bought a "Center Point Power Class" scope for $69...on their website it goes for about $150+????...I never heard of them but it was the clearist of the scopes that Dick's had with the best eye relif (and due to limited shoping opportunitites, I settled....). I looked at the Bushnel and the Bone Collector model (which my 3 yrd old wanted me to buy...hahah) as well as Simmions and Nikon models and this was the clearist....I hope it holds up. Disck's did have all of the BDC redicle scopes startin at $150 but i was with my old man who wouldn't have it.......hahaha. Maybe it was me but tBone Collector had a very short relief...although that was my favorite scope that was on display.Either way, i figure i can try out his scope and pass along some info to all of you guys.......if it sucks, oh well...if it is good more power to me!! It does have one cool thing i like,......I can adjust the redicles to be more green or red depending on the light i am hunting in...That make's it a cool scope for me until I need to replace the battery!!! hhaha

Thanks guys I appreciate the help....Bubba, I hear ya..the package was worth at least double that and a quality scope the first time is probably the best bet...I will take a look at all those mentioned above and let you know what I wind up with.....thanks again!!

Guys, Any help would be appreciated. I have a CVA Optima 45 cal and for the past 3 yrs have been hunting with open sights. (I figured that if I was hunting with a primitave weapon, I might as well be as primitive as possible and not scope it) Well, I love shooting it and I think i may use it dring the shotun season as well so I want to put a scope on it. I bought one of those starter packages at Gander Mountain (you know everything you need to shoot all in one!) Well I got a great deal as it was miss marked. I think the whole package was $200 or 250ish and It was marked $100 so no complaining there.....I just can't justify paying more for a scope then i paid for the gun and whenever i look in the Cabela's catalog that is what i would be doing (maybe that is just me).....do you have any suggestions on a good scope that will hold up and is realitively inexpensive? I have been hunting for almost 20 years and never bought a scope...all my guns have been handed down in the family...so i really have no idea about scopes...really all i know is they were on the gun and they still work, so i shoot them (I know, that's bad!!) My longest shot would probably be 100 yards.....What do you think? Any Suggestions? Thanks again!

Do you know the details on the farm....just curious how long it has been around and how big it is....Wouldn't mind one of those bucks gettin loose!!

A few years ago I bought some "Buck bomb", i figured why not give it a try. it said the continer would spray for 5 mins... I started it and locked it in place and headed to my tree 20 yrds away. By the time i got there it was done and I could smell the vinilla scent. Nothing came that day, however, the last day of the year I had a "dominiant Buck Scent" left and said why not, I paid $10 for it, might as well use it........well I made a ton of noise getting in the stand (for reason's i will not go into) but once up the tree i let off the "bomb" and needless to say i was out of my stand and hold on to the small horns of a 3 pointer within 10 mins...........i chalk it up to chance as i really dont think the stuff works but wanted to know if any of you had some good experience with "Buck Bomb"???
-
WOW...where is that?? The piebald one looks like a goat to me, at least in one pic. Also, did they say why there was a hang on stand leaning against the fence?
-
"I give it a 10...a f'in 10"...........how about just shooter? The big one in the back on the 2nd pic, maybe 140-150...that's just my guess going off one on my wall that is a 138"....looks pretty symetrical so no dedutions. But i'll be honest with you, take my scoring with a grain of salt! I'm probably worse at scoring deer then Obama is at creating jobs..........

Hung a few stands last weekend and put out 2 camera's (a first for me)...I have an itch in 2 different spots....#1 i want to check the camera's..#2 can't wait for that first cold morning when everything smells different, looks different and tastes different, etc....I wish it was October!

If you need to oil anything on your bow...i.e a screw on a cam that has a little rust from a heavy rain, is there a particular oil you would use that is "scent free"?? What do you guys do?

new to forum desperate for landowner permission!
Paulie replied to orvisman25's topic in Introductions
There are people of all different makes on this site.....new hunter who have yet to set foot in the woods...and hunters who have been in the woods longer then many members have been alive!! Eddie, no offense but i think you fall into the latter (what i would consider a tenured hunter...haha) So you will see response of all types, espically when nobody knows about you....maybe try explaining a little more about yourself and the responses will change accordingly. (i.e. - howing long you have been hunting, where you hunted before, what you hunt with......) -
Season is open for 2011 and they are certianly here..........

Paulie replied to orvisman25's topic in Introductions
I'm sure someone would say it so I figured that I might as well.....not a good way to start off on the site asking for help by bashing the people giving suggestions...espically when "respect" is your first and foremost charistic.....maybe it's me, but i didn't take anythink but helpfulness from Eddie's reply....there are people on this forum that are willing to help and have helped...(i have been the receipent of such help)....don't shoot yourself in the foot.....as you grow on this site you will learn about all the folks on here and will be able to form better opionions of each....just my 2 cents. -
I hope everyone is making out OK...we lost power over here in dutchess about 6 - 6:15 for a while but thankfully it came back. Wind started to kick up a bunch but seemed to calm down for the time being. I'm sure it will pick back up again.....good luck, lets hope this moves on through quickly!!

Westside Shooting Range - NYC?????
Paulie replied to Paulie's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Thanks guys....I was blocked out of the website at work but was able to find some comments. I had thought it was only pistol's and .22's but wasn't sure so thanks for confirming.....still might be a good way to spend a lunch hour. -
I have a questions for all you who live or work in Manhattan. (I apologize now, if this has already been discussed). A co-worker said he was offered a free pass to the shooting range and I looked at him like he had 3 heads as I didn't know one existed in NYC. Has anyone been here? How was the experience and what is it like? Pistol, rifle, what do you need to have in order to shoot (NYC goes by there own rules)? As I started thinking about it, I told my co-worker that I think we should go the range during lunch and let some lead fly.....it would be very theriputical!!

Burt, what floor are you on? I'M in NYC as well and my whole desk shook, building swayed as well. I'm on the 14th floor of a 30 floor building....my laptop moved a about a key in either direction. I would imagine the folks of the taller buildings felt it more...as they supposedly evacuated the building next to me which is probably about 60 to 70 stories i would guess...I will say that when I stood up I felt a little woosy....wonder what causes that.

I would let him have that stand whenever he wants it to try and shoot the buck (it's not worth an arguement). You will be rewarded two-fold with the bigger one that nobody has on camera!!!
