  1. Loved it....espically the end. Can't believe that you got it on camera the way you did....you see the knock going in, disappear and then right behind the deer...shows just how fast an arrow is....
  2. Not sure how big he is but seems to me that he is defintiely trying to tempt you with a Texas Heart Shot!
  3. 10, 20, and 30....but i don't use the 10 yrd pin as it it pretty much the same as the 20.......I just like to have more pins on the bow cause it makes it look "more bad ass".....and i couldn't handle 5 cause i would get confused...3 doesn't confuse me though.

    Scopes?

I'll let you know how I make out at the range.....gonna mess around with her a little and see if she likes what I have to offer. Looking at the ballistics chart, if I 0 in at 150 yards I'll be right around 2" high between 50-100 yards.....or there abouts which is easy enough to compensate for. I figure I if I can get this out to 150 it would be good....my shotgun is dead on at 50 yrds so this would be more for a place i have longer shots ot incase I get invited up to rifle country (and can't grab the rifle from my old man). At least this would give me some options.....

    Scopes?

My father just picked it up today. He said it looked good, hopefully I can get it this weekend and maybe take her for a spin next weekend.
  6. For transportation purposes, as long as there is no primer its not a loaded weapon? Is that correct? I always shoot mine after its loaded cuz it makes me nervous but that is too expensive......
  7. Doc, I believe that you are retired? So, I can understand why you post so much:.......but WNY, where do you find them time to post.....its all day long! Do you get paid for this or something? If so, let me know how I can too!

    Scopes?

Just doing my part to buy American....haha. Although I think it was manufacture in China if I remember correctly.
  9. burmjohn, Just curious due to all the pics and your work on the property (and I'm sure you already put this out there) but what do you have? how many acres, type of land etc.... Paul
  10. Eddie, Looks to me like some folks trying to get away and get a little naughty...haha! Keep the cam out and you might get sued for being a voyeur (spelling) and capturing some naughty photos!!!!
  11. This seems like ciber bulling......maybe i should call the hotline!! Enough is enough, get over it! You guys keep going back and forth like you are in the 3rd grade........and i only read half the posts becasue this is just a battle between the two of you. Go have a shoot off and see who is better after 5 shots at 100 yards...whomever has the best grouping wins. Settle it like men!! haha
  12. I hear ya, and trust me I'm not knockin LI guys (only some of them...haha).......but seriousely, if you get lost where I hunt you have issues....Unless you are crippled...i.e break a leg or something, can't make it to a road and nobody nows where u are. thats an entirely differently story. When ever I hunt someone always know where I am........
  13. Down here in Dutchess where I hunt it's pretty hard to get lost. I mean you could be in what some would consider "the middle of nowhere" and if you walked a 1/2 mile (max a mile) you would hit a road or a house.....At a hunting camp I have been going to for 18 years...we had a guy from Long Island come up a few years ago. (no offense to the LI guys). We called this cat inspector gadget cause he had all the latest trinkets and it was his first year in the woods. (LI is very different the Dutchess the same way Dutchess is very different from the Dacks!!) Well he had the latest GPS gadget that was on the market (i think he spent $500 on it)...when i heard that I just laughed and started busting his chops. He went out for the afternoon hunt around 2 and we expect him back shortly after dark.....after all he was about 200 yards from the house down a quad trail that you could drive a truck. Darkness came and he was nowhere to be found...we new where he was sitting and went to look for him..nothing. Getting worried we started searching for him (it's not big woods, we were searching and calling for him covering maybe 50 acres...and ther were about 10 of us). Well about 8:30 - 9 we see some headlights coming down the road. Here he comes as he hitched a ride from a neighbor that was about 500 Yards from the house. He was following his hand held GPs and was going in circles (mind you he was right off a trail Helen Keller could follow and only 200 yards from the house...he could see the lights on in the house). Needless to say we gave him some crap for that....and told him to save his money and get an old fashion compass. He called the GOS company and the said that the compass went haywire due to alot of Iron (i think) in the gorund.....i thought those thing work off of satallites, no? I just found there response strange....either way you slice it i would rather have a good old fashion compass with me. I work in NYC with guys that have lived in cities all of there lives and they think i am a mountain man. I can hold my own when it comes to survival but it amazes me how many people would have no clue what to do.....I will be ready for 2012! hahah
  14. I wouldn't touch it in High School but when I went to college it was almost like a "right of passage" on the baseball team and it was free as I had a hook into US Tobacco......put those to elements together and look out.
  15. I was "dipping" skoal mint in the woods one day and had a deer walk directly under me stop and lick the leaves i was spitting in.....got me wondering about the "curiosity scents" like the ones from Buck Bomb.
  16. I'm not arguing the legality of it with the DEC .. My point is, how many "people" who are not hunter's, like deer in their back yard and feed them. Nothing happens to these people even though "ITS THE LAW" as you have pointed out many times before. But god forbid a hunter with a camera be caught putting out some corn...he would be prosecuted? That just doesn't seem right to me.
  17. bait 1 (bt) n. 1. a. Food or other lure placed on a hook or in a trap and used in the taking of fish, birds, or other animals. b. Something, such as a worm, used for this purpose. 2. An enticement; a temptation. 3. Archaic A stop for food or rest during a trip. v. bait·ed, bait·ing, baits v.tr. 1. To place a lure in (a trap) or on (a fishing hook). 2. To entice, especially by trickery or strategy. 3. To set dogs upon (a chained animal, for example) for sport. 4. To attack or torment, especially with persistent insults, criticism, or ridicule. 5. To tease. 6. To feed (an animal), especially on a journey. v.intr. Archaic To stop for food or rest during a trip. I would think this definition is up to interpretation.......look at "a" and #6. what type of journey are you leading the deer on.... I know the law, but feeding deer to get a picture, is that truely baiting? how many people feed deer off of there porches and the law does nothing, in fact everyone likes it! IMHO, putting out some "stuff" in front of a camera does no harm....On the other hand hunting over bait, I defintiely do not agree with...and just for the record, I don't hunt or take pics over antyhing. You can say what you will but to feed a deer a litlle corn or whatever
  18. 85gr....same thing here. When I was set up at the shop that is what he reccomended. before that it was Thunderhead 100's or 110's ( i forget, but it was one of those).....but i must say that i have never had a probelm with my setup. All shots have been pass throughs ( expect for that frekin time i hit a branch on a 10 pointer) with Spitfire broadheads.
  19. I think that it is important to talk about it, partially so we all never forget! I know that I will never forget that day! I was 23, and working in NYC for only about 6 months...my ex girlfriend was in the south tower on the 44th floor. I came out of the subway on wall strret to paper's falling from the sky, a tower on fire and smoke billowing upwards. Honestly, all i thought was that thing is made of concrete and steel.....it will be fine. I went to work about 6 blocks away and turned on the radio while trying to get in touch with my ex (but phones weren't working to well). that's when the second plane hit. I was stuck at work with a bunch of women that were scared and wanted to go home to NJ (so they would have had to go to the path trains under the towers)...the big boss had left and unfortunaltey they looked to me for advice, the 23 yr old kid...thankfully i told them to stay put, that we were safe where we were for the time being (at the end of the day they were all fine). At the same time, I was debating going to find my ex at Century 21, right buy the towers...as I figured she would have left and went shopping. God must have been watching over me to keep me where i was (cause if I went there i wouldn't be posting here as there was nothing left). After both towers came down i decided it was time to go...my plan was to walk up the east side and if anything else was hit I would jump into the river if need be. Well, i got about 3 blocks and couldnt figure out where i was because of all the ash and debris. I wound up walking about a block from all the debris until I figured out what direction was north and got the hell out of there. While I was trying to figure out where to go, something happened that still haunts me today.... a woman came up to me asking me how o get out of the city. The dust was so bad you couldn't even read the street signs. There was no such thing as race or color because everyone was gray with ash....and she had a stroller. I told her to walk towards the blue sky as that would bring her to the brooklyn bridge and then i was off. As i turned back to make sure she was going in the right direction, I realized there was nothing in the stroller... I didn't know what to do/say and to this day i still wonder about that. Should i have done something different? Once i found my way north it was amazing to see New Yorkers coming together the way they did. Street vendors giving away water and food, shops giveing away all they had, particulary sneakers for everyone that had to walk half of Manhattan or more to try and get home to their families.. It was amazing how in times of need we can banned together. 9-11 will always be with me. I lost a few friends that day as well as in the years after and the wars due to it. But I will always remember....thank you for listening to part of my story. It helps to talk and share...espically with people that you have common bond with.
