  1. We are shooting the new Winchester Deer Season XP in the 30-06 and .270WSM. Hornady Superformance in the .338 Win Mag
  2. X-bolt. I currently have two, a stainless stalker and a Maple Medallion. Both are amazing rifles. Looking at the new High Grade Hunter model next. I've also got a Model 70 stainless featherweight that is an amazing rifle with the smoothest action of any rifle I have ever owned, but the ergonomics and feel of the X-bolt can't be beaten IMO. Truth is, most of the modern bolt action rifles are good guns and most are very accurate these days. Find a shop that has a good selection and see what fits you best or what catches your eye.
  3. Hotshots Hydrographics in Hamburg.
  4. That's a hell of a buck! I'm at S&S twice a week for something, they are the hands down the best archery shop around WNY.
  5. Let me hunt?! I am LMAO over that thought. As once stated by the quite comical Jase Robertson "that's like LETTING me breath" After 28 years with my bride, I can tell you one thing for certain - It is all about balance. I always take a few days here and there in the fall to make time to do things she enjoys and I pay close attention not forget about all of the family responsibilities just because it's hunting season. Remember Happy Wife means Happy Life. The good news is that as you get older she will be HAPPY you are out of the house for a while!
  6. I don't really understand the whole "overkill" argument with some folks. If you like it, use it. My son shot a buck this season at 40 yards with the .338 win mag and it had less meat damage than we've had with the 270wsm. It has been my experience with the .338 and whitetails that the deer will not take another step.
  7. It is difficult to find and when you do it's not cheap. I paid between $50 - $60 for the last box I believe.
  8. Sorry to say, but you may be the one who has something to worry about! The displayed ads are based on recently visited sights on your computer.
  9. This guy closes this with a pitch to buy land from him. Seriously, if that were his first statement, I think I would have absorbed the info differently. In my opinion, he is selling land, flat out. Call the number, I can hear him now…”Don’t be forced into not being able to shoot a deer by NYS, get your own land now, where all of the neighbors are managing for bigger bucks… blah blah blah” I agree with Doc, I am not losing any sleep over this at all. It is what it is and I will continue to love doing it and play by the rules.
  10. They closed up shop in 2012 I believe. I live about a mile from where their only retail store was, Hamburg NY. I bought as much as I could find in my size when they had the parking lot clearance sale. The stuff really was well made.
  11. Still for sale... No one looking for a nearly brand new $1,000 set up for half price?
  12. Great season for me. I passed a few does and small bucks in archery, I missed a spectacular buck at 40 yards, still not sure what happened there... But finally shot a 3-1/2 year old 8 point opening weekend of gun. I was able to hunt with my younger son most of the time and he managed to take his first two archery deer this year, a buck and a doe. My older son made it out one time for opening day of rifle, and shot a buck. It was great, I've reached a point where their success is more exciting for me than my own. All in all, it was a very good and memorable season for us.
  13. I bought the new bow for my son last night, now I just want to move this to help cover the cost. $500 b/o takes it.
  14. Yes it is! Fast and quiet. He made his first two bow kills with it in October. A buck and a doe, buck was a 45 yard shot. It's a great bow, but he now wants an Elite - that's what his Buddies shoot, so I get it. We've got about 1200 onto the set up so it's a nice deal for someone looking to upgrade without breaking the bank. I can even throw in a case.
  15. Trying to help my son sell his set up, He's getting a new one for Christmas: Bear Motive 6. Bought new in July. Like new condition. - truglo 4 pin sight - ripcord red drop away rest - trophy ridge 6 arrow quiver - octane stabilizer - 1/2 dozen carbon express maxima blue streak arrows - 3 grim reaper white tail special broadheads - limb savers 70lbs, and with 29" draw length (adjustable), IBO rating is 350. $600
  16. This site has a listing of preserves in the state. http://www.ultimatepheasanthunting.com/USA/New-York/ I used to do a few hunts a year at Ringneck Preserve in Darien Center, but haven't been there in two years. Highly recommended though.
  17. The Amish do not hate guns. My property is also in the Leon/New Albion area, one of the guys on our road used to allow them to hunt his property, but from what he told me, after the first year, they began hunting it year round and shot anything they saw. They are not welcome any longer.
  18. I will second that... every mature buck i have on camera in the last 4 weeks has been between 12:30 and 2:30 in the afternoon.

  20. Theroms E5. Same deal, pre-heat it with hot water before filling. I swear i have opened it the next day to empty it and the coffee was still hot!
