  1. I did pretty well with outdoor gifts this year. My Son got me a Yeti cooler and wife got me a Barronette blind, Cabelas blind chair and a Buddy heater. Never hunted from a blind but really wanted to try it. Now I can! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. into contractor bag and big green WM bin as well.
  3. Two for me, the one on the left in 1997 with a bow in Pembroke, the on the right last week in Wyoming Co.
  4. So many...a tree umbrella, hand warmer muff, and LL Bean packable 850 down jacket probably top my list.
  5. Dropped the Hammer on this guy at 10:30 this morning. He was tending a doe, they circled in front me three times before I had a shot opportunity. 8 pt with split brow, 24” spread. My biggest to date. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Browning x-Bolt Maple Medallion 30-06 / Leopold.
  7. I have used them for years, great in the rain obviously, but even better when it's snowing to keep it from piling up on top of you, and it is nice for keeping the gun dry. I usually get quite a few seasons out of them if I don't leave it out during a bad wind storm. I've been wanting to get one of these, it is supposed to be a better design because it extends out beyond your knees when sitting, thus you don't get the "runoff" across your lap. It's supposed to be much more durable as well, they claim you can leave it out through just about anything...not so sure about that. http://www.cabelas.com/product/HAWK-WINGSPAN-ULTIMATE-TREE-UMBRELLA/1837467.uts?productVariantId=3887247&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=03917787&rid=20&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIx__fhrzB1wIVSZ7ACh2IjQ2XEAQYBCABEgJ0uPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#tabsCollection
  8. Same boat here. We have a lot of pics, but very few live sightings this year.
  9. I actually have two of these, they are NIB, never used. My son got them from a company raffle, we intended on mounting to the bows or kayaks, but never did it and never will, so we're selling them. Shoot that buck on video this year! $210 shipped./$200 local (WNY)
  10. I got one of these years ago as a gift, never thought I would use it, but I tossed it in the pack anyway and it came in very useful many times back when I used climbers. http://www.treetalon.com
  11. I won't hunt without a lighted nock anymore. There is no second guessing where that arrow hit when you can watch the light zip right through the deer. Nockturnals for me, I've used them for years and love them. They are reliable and very bright and I have never had one fail at the shot. I have had a few dead in the package over the years. Of all the brands I have tried, they seem to work best for me and are not overly expensive, I consider lighted nocks to be disposable, so longevity or replacing a battery doesn't matter to me, I'm not messing with them, as long as it works when I need it, I'm fine with it. They are a bit of a pain to turn off, mostly because I can't see so well anymore, (also why i love the lighted nocks) but Gander had the Nockturnal "tool" for a buck and it works fine. I'm ordering some of those Chinese Nockturnals now...worth trying.
  12. I found it very difficult to shoot with progressive bifocals. Earlier this year i went to bifocal (multifocal) contact lenses and the difference is amazing. I can see the pins clearly and see the target clearly. Funny, but one of the things I am looking forward to the most this hunting season, is not dealing with glasses!

    Why a bow?

It's always been with me. I remember when I was maybe 4 years old, behind my Grandfathers garage in Pittsburgh with my Father and his brothers, they were target shooting with their recurves and I had a toy bow of some sort. I vividly remember shooting at the target, a giant round competition bulls-eye wrapped straw target towering over me - maybe 10 feet away - the arrow bounced off. I remember my Dad and uncles laughing out loud and telling me "good shot!" That was 47 (or so) years ago. I've always shot a bow, and always hunted with one. I've never been particularly great at either, but i have loved it and hope it I will be able to enjoy it for many more years.
  14. Posting for my son. He has a 2015 Elite Energy 32 Snow Camo For Sale. 60lbs limbs, 29" dl. Perfect condition, Elite quiver, Elite Cerakote QAD rest, AXT 3 pin sight, Maxima Red 250’s. Only selling because he just ordered a new bow. $800.00. Thanks for looking. D
  15. Really great Man! Now it's Miller time...
  16. Ram. Right now I am driving a 2014 CC Hemi. It is my third one. I put 25K a year on them so I usually keep them for 4 years and trade them in. Right now with winter gas I am averaging 19mpg. Once the summer blend comes in it will to up to 22. No experience or interest in the F150.
  17. There are lines on the property we hunt in Varysburg, the deer don't care, and in fact tend to follow them like they would a fence line. One of our stands is 10 feet from one of the lines, I have watched how they interact with them and I'm telling you, they could care less.
  18. Mulberry is very good. Don't let the location scare you off.
  19. Buffalo- Hutch's or Tempo, He's a friend of mine so I am a bit biased, but hands down the best food in the city. Request Josh as your server you won't be disappointed. For great comfort food and a good beer selection try Nye Park Tavern, the bison burger and meatloaf is amazing, ask for Luke and request a Half Baked Bomber sandwich for a one of a kind Hutch creation. NT- Remington, also owned by Hutch. Hamburg- Lucia's on the water is great, Dock is open now, food is OK but the view is awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I hunt in Varysburg, I have friends there and the Hotel was always a weekend destination on the bikes. It's really cool to see this! thanks!
  21. That would be easier then dealing with the nuts on the u bolts, but the claw is bolted to the frame and the bolt is only 1/2" from the end so you can't slide anything into the frame. The two short pieces are only 3/8", just enough to keep the axle in place. Great idea though and now you have me thinking... I'm going to tack two longer pieces to the axle that will run below the frame directly under the small inserts and use pins. No messing around with the u bolts.
  22. I made a removable wheel system for my ladders this year and it worked great. I don't have pics right now, but I will post later. It was about $25 and a half hour of work, I will never drag or carry a ladder again. Basically I used a 3/8" threaded rod as an axle, I slid that through a 1/2" piece of square steel tube and used nuts on the axle to secure it with about 2" of the threaded rod sticking out each end of the square tube for the wheels to attach. I picked up two wheelbarrow wheels at Harbor freight, drilled a hole and used a cotter pin to secure to the axle. On my particular stands (Big Game Stealth DXs), the frame where the "teeth" are has open ends, so I welded two very short pieces of the square tubing to my axle square tube that fit right into those ends of the stand frame. This keeps the axle in place. Two 2 1/2" u-bolts to hold them on. I can install or remove them in about one minute.
  23. You won't get any points. I had two sons who I swear to God paid for Hamburg's fireworks display every year with their speeding tickets. They just want the money, the prosecutor will reduce it to two parking violations and it will cost you about 2 bills. My last one was on Rt 5 in Angola where it drops from 55 to 45. Of course i was going 65 like a dumb a$$. I have a coworker/lawyer deal with them now, she can do it over the phone/fax, no need to go to court, pay the fine and done. I usually pay her $100 on top of the fine, but not having to deal with the time in court is worth it to me.
  24. That was all from the first shot, entered on right side. In this pic you can see the entrance of the second shot entering further back on its left. There was no exit whatsoever with the second shot. All initial marketing releases and "reviews" sounded great to me too, but real world reviews, now that people are trying them, are beginning to tell a different story. Lesson learned for me, I'm sticking with the simple, proven options that have been around forever, no need to get fancy with a 30-06.
