    cranberry mtn.

Hunting is allowed for Putnam residents only :-( Yeah, I know, but you are right this is a county land and they set the rules.
  2. Nothing like that, I just remove the cushions and check the stand before the season, and I mean rock the be-jesus out of it and see how it does hold up....tight up the straps and put the fresh cushions...been doing that for 3 years now....no problems so far...
  3. Thanks for Sharing. That's a good story for a hunting show, I wish we could back to these times....or I will just move to Alaska...lol
  4. I guess it is up to you, they all look the same to me. I prefer warm clothes where I can still move and walk around so I can use it also when predators hunting. This garment seems for the stands only. When it gets that cold (say, single digits) don't forget to protect your face also.
  5. LOL, you guys are hilarious...:-)
  6. I took a ride this afternoon just to call a few on a state land (West Mountain) , no luck, but I know they are here I see them every night behind my house. Any luck fellows especially downstate (region 3)?
  7. Why you guys taking your stands down? I just remove the cushions and leave it for next year and or small game hunting

LOL, You beat my Jets so I don't like you :-)
  9. I always leave a note on my dash with a phone number if anything, so far no issues.....no need to notify IMO
  10. Holy Smokes, Orange Army was 16 mil last year, darn it! The biggest Army in the world - An American Hunter :-)
  11. Hey Tug Hill, what you do with that aluminum? I have small boat to modify and could use some of that alum you have, I will PM you with details, where are you located?
  12. WTF???? That's gross....

    Seriously

It is what it is with blaze orange, I choose to wear it for the simple safety issue, if you choose not to that's your deal....I personally know some yahoos that shot anything that moves during the gun season, so safety is your choice....just saying....
  15. CA as in California or Canada ?
  16. +1 or set a bait pile and be far enough for them not to smell you, play the wind and take long shots, you should be all set on these 250 acres. Oh, and post the pics after you got them! Good Luck!
  17. How is it? Better than early season or worse? Since you guys have till the end of the year I was thinking to take a ride down Taconic and give it a try. Would you say it is more crowded or less, I'm talking public land (NYC Watershed properties) and how the deer movement now? Let us know, Thanks
  18. #1 rule of hunting, you make sure you know your target AND what's beyond... enough said....book him Dano....

    ml doe

    Congrats, where at?
  20. Not sure that is a county issue, this is not even state land, its federal
  21. Folks, Do you know what are the hunting rules on govt land? Say, land code 960 (public park). DEC does not advertise this but do they govern it also? Can I just walk in and hunt since it is public and I'm US citizen so this land is also mine? lol. I found some local land and the owner is United States of America, so do I call Obama and ask him? :-) I also checked BLM website but they have nothing in NY. I mean I will check whether the land is posted or not but other than that I think this is a GO. Have you ever experienced that? Let me know.
  22. Depends on the distance, in my experience up to 75 yards = red dot, after that = scope. For a slug gun I would say red dot, just my 2 cents.
