    Hey

    welcome to the site
  3. Barrett's Bowhunting in Elmira has an indoor range. You could check them out. http://www.barrettsbowhunting.com
  4. This brand was recommended last winter in Deer & Deer Hunting magazine. I bought it and really like it. Rivers West is the brand http://cascadedirect.net/
  5. I just got a decent fanny pack with shoulder straps a year ago and I guess I'm still trying to make that work ..... we'll see. I have a couple slings I haven't had much a chance to try yet that may hold it high enough across my back to clear the pack. Fingers crossed!
  6. You have a real nice spot there ......
  7. I've seen this advertised on a few of the TV hunting shows but have never seen any reviews. Last year after the season I did seriously consider their snow camo.
  8. As growalot stated earlier in the thread it's a bit different from what your used to with your bow as the limbs hangout and catch on things when carrying it on your back .... just something to aware of. I've gotten hung up in the dark a couple times.
  9. Just to clarify .... does Spartan make the Scoutguard / Bolyguard cameras?
  10. I see there is an article in the Outdoor News on this.
  11. nope ....... normal strapping process at the top for sure.
  12. Ever tried or considered applying some type of sent to the strap? Might be interesting. Do you use specific manufacturer mounting set ups or a universal type?
  13. Actually the jaws do secure it to the tree. In the picture I included you can see the criss-crossed cables that come down from the top of the stand which are attached to the y-shaped ratchet strap. That is attached to the bottom of the ladder. By cinching that strap down it tightens the upper jaw enough to the tree so you can climb up and attach the final ratcheting strap that will hold the upper portion of the stand in the same fashion as any ladder stand.
  14. The stand arrived today. First impression is the quality of the materials looks good so we'll see how it goes together. The concept is somewhat interesting with the two sets of jaws that go onto the tree, plus the set up for securing it to the tree so you can go up to put the upper strap in place ..... maybe with confidence. Looking forward to setting it up.
  15. Happy Birthday .... hope it was a good one
  16. I don't know that it isn't for the general public. I was on copy of an email that originated with the Seneca County Federation of Sportsman's Clubs. Here's what came attached: Deer and Deer Management in New York State - webinar series promotional final.pdf

  18. My best climbing days are behind me (legs) so ladder stands work for me. In addition, I find myself putting these stands in by myself 90% of the time. Securing the top "good enough" to climb and really fasten it in with the ratching strap is my most anxious moment. If those jaws clamp on enough to make me more confident then that's great. PS: Yes .... I some time take chances .... my bad.
  19. I ordered the Onyx ladder stand. i like the look of it so I'm going to give it a try. I don't mind tweaking them. It won't be the first time.
  20. I looked but didn't see anything on this subject so if there is a thread please direct me to it. I'm interested in how others carry their crossbow when hunting or just to and from the stand, etc. Does anybody else find it a pain in the #$@s to carry? Would like to hear any solutions too. Thanks!
  21. Guess I used the wrong terminology. Probably should have said " low light capability" . Anyway ..... The Meopta sure worked good in the dark.
  22. I couldn't agree more. This is the philosophy my hunting buddy had for me when I started using a M/loader two yrs. ago. He's hunted with one for yrs. I bought a T/C Impact at a real fair price and put a good scope on it ..... worked on the load and spent a decent amount of time on the bench/rest getting confident with it. I've killed two deer with it.
  23. Meopta is very highly rated. Their origin is in the Czech Republic and they have a facility on Long Island. I have relatives in Europe that swear by this brand. Over there they hunt boar at night. I've had the opportunity to tag along and use these scopes at night. The light gather capability is outstanding. I believe they make, or have made optics for Cabelas ..... a bit pricey though http://www.meopta.com
