  1. Nice to have choices .... isn't it? I've killed a bunch of deer with the 243 myself after using a 30-06 for yrs.
  2. I've seen several articles lately on the 260 Remington. Although I have no experience with it I thought I'd throw it in here for fun. Here is an example from Field & Stream: What is your thought on the 260 rem for whitetail? Too small? I was thinking of purchasing one. By WA Mtnhunter 20 Jul 2009 10:29 am The .260 Remington should be every bit as good of a deer rifle as a .243, .257 Roberts, .25-06, 6.5x55 Swedish, or 7mm-08 with a good bullet. Jim Carmicheal speaks very highly of their results. I have no personal experience with the .260 Rem, but since it is similar to other rounds I have used, it should be great. Deer & Deer Hunting had a recent article too

    SNOW

Real windy and real cold here in the Finger Lakes with only a trace of snow. After awhile I get a bit tired of the howling wind.
  6. Eagles are the best and he was one of the reasons
  7. Welcome and hope you enjoy it here .....
  8. Friend of mines seasonal home got hit about a year ago. The vandals opened a frost free spigot he has on top of his well housing. He figured it ran for two weeks. threw his gas grill and furniture off the deck too .. trashed it pretty bad. Now he has the spigot locked and cameras in place. Sometimes you never know what motivates these characters.
  9. I have heard many a tale (no pun intended) that they are ornery little B@s!ds
  10. Like Doc said ..... test holes!! Finding shale or gravel veins half to three quarters of the way through would suck, but it sure sounds like your doing your homework.
  11. I'm trying one of these ......... i think http://www.heavyhauleroutdoorgear.com/products-page/archery/backpacker-sling-2/
  12. If your still looking for a camera Cabelas has the GoPro on sale in the bargain cave
  13. I have a few ladder stands that have been out for a few yrs. too. All of them need new padding on the arm rests and shooting rails come next year. The seats are showing signs of wear from weather and the occasional chewing varmint. I'm thinking of wrapping them in that stretch plastic that comes on a roll and is normally used for moving or shipping. At the very least that will keep the weather off the fabric seat and hopefully make it last a bit longer.
  14. Sorry to hear what your going through
  15. Thanks Phade ..... appreciate the input you always give.
  16. Look in this section: http://huntingny.com/forums/forum/21-land-for-sale-lease-and-requests/
  17. Welcome ..... you'll find this to be a very informative site
  18. Great memory. They have a spot in the NY Outdoor News with submissions like this .... I make sure to always check them out. Love the firearms they used and the clothing from back then.
  19. How deep in the ground do you go so they don't push the tree over? Several nice bucks there but that 12 looks like he was a brute
  20. Looks like some places are starting to place their stock on sale. Anyone finding what they would consider good deals yet? I'm looking to add at least 3 cameras to my small collection .... not high end and not cheap. I like what I've read on here about the Browning cams. I also have a couple Coverts. http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/918171-browning-range-ops-xr-trail-camera.html
