They have guns that have been passed around the community , bought and sold with out nics checks .Kind of like what happens in the community , stays in the community . I have had my place for 15 yrs, I guess I'll have to accept the fact that they take deer pretty much all year long. I'll have to make my 175 acres , a deer haven , so they don't have to wander off.

10 to 15 yrs ago , the deer population was unbelievable , many large bucks , does would come by in 2's and 3's . Just during bow season , I would see 30-35 bucks , 60-70 does. now its like 5 bucks (yearlings) and 25 does , granted I'm seeing the same deer 2 maybe 3 times . I'll need to put in food plots etc. to keep the deer on my 175 acres as much as possible.

I bought a crossbow this year and can't wait until Nov 1. To answer your question, yes they are easier , for all the reasons just mentioned. I'm glad that NY only legalized the crossbow for the last 14 days before gun season , this way I still need to hunt with my bow . So regardless of what your using , emotion, nerves, heartbeat , adrenalin , weather , comradery all this plays into hunting . Without these elements , It wouldn't be much fun. The love of hunting comes from within yourself , I have hunted for over 40 yrs and still can't get enough.

Same here , but i always see sign on the logging roads , when walking out . Just not yet, this year.

This last Monday evening ,I was in my stand on the hay field in front of my log home . Across the street and all around me are Amish families . I am in the middle of an Amish community . Well about 6pm , there are 2 rifle shots across the street from me . I hear shooting all the time , 24/ 7, so its not uncommon. Well it gets dark , starting to rain and I get out of the stand and pack up to head home about 7:30, I'm building this log home but live about 50 miles north, I head down my 1800 ft driveway , pull out to lock the gate , and across the field , I see a flash light .Then the light goes out , this is about 200yds across the field from my Amish neighbors house, in his field. i drive by slow and don't see the light anymore. I want to get out and walk into the field to see whats going on , but , I can't , I need to get home , my dad has terminal cancer and not doing good. What conclusion would you draw from this senario?. Many times ,Ive talked to my Amish neighbor about all the shooting that I hear , always mention that every year I see less deer. I ask if there is any poaching going on and he always says , not him ,he wouldn't do that. Well who shot 2 times at 6pm , who was in the field in the rain at 7:30pm. These are questions I'm going to ask ,next time I get down there. I have known him and his family for 15 yrs , they are great neighbors , we help each other out .I need to tread lightly here , I'm moving down there in 2 yrs. I'll get back to this site after I talk to him this coming Tuesday.

I took a buck at 154 yds last year , from my TC Triumph / Nikon Omega BDC scope with 150gr of 777 and the 300gr TMZ. This combo gives me a consistent 3" group at 225 yds..

Helmet law , new to New York . You need a Snell approved helmet to protect your head in case of a fall out of your tree stand.

Had been looking around the web and has seen many posts about limbs splitting and strings breaking. Definetly a safety recal. But can they fix the problem bows before the deer season starts or ends , depending on where your at. Could be a big blow to the Tenpoint reputation .

There is going to be a lot of ticked off hunters with crossbow opening on the 1st. I didn't buy a Ten Point or Barnett because of the quality issues. I love my Winchester Stallion.

If you have vertigo , you should not be in a tree , regardless of the size of the platform , etc. My wife has vertigo , and when its bad she walks like she's drunk ( doesn't drink ) , having to lean on things for balance. You need to see a dr. , could be inner ear problems or something medication will control.

Maybe you hit low , but still caught the bottom of one lung . Still give it some time like around 3 go out and pick up the trail at last blood. you should see where she bedded after the hit , better to wait it out.

I had a doe walk by at 50 yds , could barely see her with all the leaves. Have not heard a single shot yet, but it sounded like opening day about 730 last night , must be the up and coming youth practicing their deer jacking skills up on redneck ridge.

The crossbow string should ride on the rails . Any higher it can cause a bolt to thrown off the rail and possibly injure the shooter or bystanders . I would not shoot your Vengeance until its corrected , you could end up destroying the crossbow and voiding the warranty .

I hit a large doe at about 6:45, good blood ,solid shoulder hit , mule kick , lot of crashing , tracked about 100 yds at 7:30, had to back out . She was heading for the swamp, so I didn't want to push her. I'll be out at daylight .

Barnett recruit , $300 at Cabela's , 300 ft/ sec .Although Barnett has had quality issues, it still is a good xbow for the money.Trying different bolts and broadhead combinations will give you an accurate xbow.

My Winchester Stallion is at 165# 340 FPS Dead nuts at 60yds.

I have made biodiesel out of it , only in a 1 liter batch . That would be enough to get me to work .
