Gun shots and deed deer don't bother other deer I have sat in the sma spot as someone who got a deer earlier in the day and boom tbere are deer there. I think it bothers humans more than anything. Nothing yet this morning nice morn though

I just watched a flock of great blue harons fly over. There were 5 and it looked like they where chasing the lead one. Maybe courting. Just thought it was cool.

Slow day today but it all can change in a second. Sun feels great and the wind died down. I think it might be nap time. 5 shot so far and the first one was at 613. Don't know what they where shooting At. Maybe the boogy monster.

Nothing with only a handful of shots seems pretty quite today.

I guy once told me SAFETY is NO ACCIDENT. What if someone was standing on the other side of the truck and when he put it in the gun rack it went off and shot him? It didn't happen which is good but i think you did the right thing. Specailly if he was older and has been around guns. If he was a first timer I would still have a problem with whoever was suppose to be watching him. Guns and safty are not to be taken lightly things can happen to quickly and bullets can't be taken back.

I have shot two doe this year and they have been 98 99 pounds. I have been busted on about them being small and I say 98 pounds is no slob but good for me. This is the first year that I have been able to harvest a nice sized doe they have all outsmarted me till this year. I couldn't be happier. I know what you mean by them saying "it was just a spike" or " it was just a 6 point" "it only weighed 100lbs" I don't think most of them say it like it is no big deal because they want to be a man and not show emotion. Most of them are jumping for joy on the inside. I am sure there are some out there that say it and mean it.

How does maceration work in cold temps? THere is no way that I am keeping the head indoors stinking up the house I don't have anything heated outside. So I might have some ice in my maceration process. Any suggestions?

Always follow your gut. It has brought me sme great things and some things not so great but you can always look back and say you did what you thought was right. You are raising a kid and if you instill that (do the right thing) in him he will be a good guy with good friends. No matter what way you went you would have been correct. It is like playing the lottery you could pick that winning ticket but sometimes you are giving the state your money. No matter what though if you don't play you don't get paid. Don't dwell to much on it it sound like you did tht right thing.

I use baking soda and borax (The 20 mule team). The baking soda takes the smell out and the borax cleans the clothes. I have been close to deer with them down wind and they don't smell me.

Just got word the another area I hunt frequntly the owners saw a nice 8 this morning. I guess I picked the wrong prop to hunt. Oh well that is hunting.

Back at it again. Took yesterday off to put the doe in the freezer. I am hoping something starts here soon.
