  1. Anyone using this? I have seen a few topics on here about it and picked some up tonight. Any success with it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I've heard several things on randy. All I know is the blackhorn does as he says... Wasn't it about blowing up a savage mlii with smokeless powder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Here is a nice article frmo Randy Wakeman on Balckhorn 209 vs. Triple 7. I have switch to blackhorn from 777 and will not look back. http://randywakeman.com/Blackhorn209AdvantagesvsT7%20pellets.htm and a blackhorn article in general: http://randywakeman.com/bh209.htm
  4. With you Doc, took the words out of my mouth.
  5. Get Permetherin.. works great and does not smell only when you apply it. once it drys you are good to go. They are bad here in 7R...
  6. Been staying out of one of my best spots. Went in on a good wind last night and had a bunch of trees tore up, here is a pic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I honestly just just use the weather channel app and it seems accurate as weather predicting can be.
  8. I'm unsure yet as there isn't much info on this yet... same case with necked down to a .264... I'd have to say faster and flatter but not as good Ballistic Coe. and down range energy.
  9. It has a crooked cantilever barrel? I am also glad that you got a good 770 and made it work... for same price though the 783 is much better option now which was most likely not available at the time.
  10. Has anyone seen the new 6.5-.300 Weatherby? Looks pretty cool but a barrel burner at that with awesome ballistics and a decent ballistic Coe. It looks like it is comparable to the 26 Nosler that came out. Are these faster cartridges really worth buying? Barrel life is probably around 800 shots. To me, 800 shots is a long life span in regards to just using the rifle strictly for hunting. I have always wanted a fast wildcat cartridge and have always liked the Weatherby magnums.
  11. A lot of gun manufactures are making a cheaper but more accurate gun for the consumer with better triggers. Savage and others have kind of opened this market up. I have heard great things about the 783. The Remington 770 is the one I was never fond of.
  12. I think he hits in the 150's. I'd say around 4 at least as well. Good genes and an awesome deer!
  13. Remmy 870 with good old Winchester super X slugs... Hand me down from my pops. That gun brings back some memories...
  14. .410 is a good all around small game load. not so for deer. Ballistics, bullet size, energy are all not that great for deer. There are better choices even if you are looking at the recoil aspect of it.
  15. I just use it to pin my stand locations and use the scent cone feature sometimes. The log Feature I tend to leave alone as I write in a journal when I get back into my truck. It also has weather and radar... along with topo mapping.
  16. yeah its way better this year than last...
  17. I've got 2. One is currently at Browning getting fixed. The one I got I love though.
  18. Have killed several deer with those. I liked them a lot! I am just up for trying something new with the rage hypos!
  19. if you wanna be technical its usually 1 year and 5 months or 1 year and 7 months. After that its judged by the 1/2. I agree though with you deerpassion whats the 1/2 really matter after the deer is a yearling. Learned this aging deer when I worked for DEC. I believe that deer is minimum 3 1/2.
  20. I second phades suggestion with the CCI 209M. I made the switch last year and it is just as easy as the pellets. Barrel is much cleaner after shots. I pair mine w 250Gr TC shockwave bullet. I have a CVA optima Pro.
