  1. One good thing about w/r is it's pH tolerance for new plots. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  2. Might be a little out of your way but check Ontario orchards, out on 104. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  3. I use an older rear tine tiller with a good 5 hp tecumseh engine every year. It's belt drive which has one advantage, when it digs up a root it kind of clutch stops instead of lurching. I remember renting frankin-tiller from sunbelt, man. Anyhow if it's a newer plot area be prepared to stop once in a while, shut down & clear the tines. A lot of nonsense will get knotted up in them. Good luck. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  4. About when did you guys drop the radish turnip mix? Thanx. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  5. Greetings, Two more dunstan chestnuts brings the count up to 7, should be 8 but one didn't survive winter so I used it's spot. Going for about 12 but the ground is a chore to dig into where I am & the dunstans in 5/6 gal buckets arn't easy to come by & not cheap either. 3 more apple trees for the year, got a line on some oak saplings, .. more work. Also dropped two pin oaks I think a third is in order. Maintaining the w/r plots, clover/chicory, and redoing the soy plot again. Thinking of mixing in some turnips or some jazz like that in.
  6. Greetings, I'd like to say yeah I'd plant that tree, but the truth is it all depends on if it can take 4b. I planted a few from north 40 and they took but are slow going in the woods.
  7. I am having trouble keeping the weight of tug hill snow from breaking branches on mine. Yet the smaller apple trees are fine. Thought of making some covers out of pallets, something like these
  8. Forge soy beans, I think. Converted, well fall planted 1/2 acre with soy. Two weeks ago I was working on the plot stand and noticed the bean plot looked like a storm had matted it down. I thought beans should be more sturdy. When I was done with the stand I went over & checked out the plot, turns out about 2/3 of all the tops were snipped off.
  9. True words. Not to be confused with winter rye, an annual staple. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  10. This year I bought from a farm supply shop near Oswego, bushel of WR for about 37$. In the past I would order 2 bags of Antler king at 50$ ea. They also have buckwheat, brassica, peas, forge soy, corn etc. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  11. Presuming you are going to chew on the plot next year you could just add fresh clover. Maybe frost seed some chicory early spring Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  12. Having a problem keeping my dunstan trees from the avg 3' of snow busting down on them. But I'm wondering how often you turn alfalfa plots? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. Nice, see a tree wrapped up to. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  14. If you have an extra trail cam set it up to eye traffic. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  15. I have bought from north 40, walmart, ct, and an Amish farm. All except the wild's were sort of spot shopping. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  16. Shhhhh ... if you mention those cats they may awaken Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  17. I wouldn't laugh @ 50 acres, that's what I got. Worked out good so far. What's an avg pH on the plot area? You can get a decent cheap meter at tractor sup. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  18. Crazier thing is aol still in business.
  19. I thought of dropping some sawtooth, but not convinced they would do well in zone 4/4b. On the other hand a few red oaks might make a worthy sacrifice.
  20. the blur; what type of trees in general are there now? Any nut / apple, jazz like that. Btw, congrats and get to work.
  21. I bought a big hang on from dickssportinggoods it's got a foot bar and generous standing platform, suspended seat. Its a decent stand, except for the shooting rail attachment which I usually bungie out of the way. And will probably just remove next year now that I think about it. Unless your mr. slinky its a pia.
  22. I have shot porcupine and coyote on a rare opportunity while deer hunting. But to answer the op question I would have to say no since neither is small game to me.
  23. Used my Remington 783 in .243 this season. Its got a dusk 2 dawn 3x9.
  24. turkeyfeathers; mind if I ask what scope is on that 870 w/ pink tigerwood stock? Thanks.
