  1. Welcome, I don't know about recurves but perhaps there's a club-range in your area that would welcome you.
  2. Let's not forget being lucky & thankful at the end of said day Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  3. Deer cart. And uhm,.. maybe some light beer. Seriously we all know when the work starts. I have taken to pacing myself, slowed down. When I sense my heart rate is rollin or im a bit out of breath, I just take a break, don't care what time it is. And deal with it.
  4. Winter rye plots, hoping for a good yeald from the composted horse manure application. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  5. That would be unfortunate. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  6. While I'm looking forward to next spring, cutting back on the chestnut tree growth sounds a little scary. But I'll keep that in mind thanks. I would have loved to drop some Gooseberry and currant bushes but I ran out of time this year. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  7. If you get a chance to expand / add a plot consider winter rye.
  8. Something tells me that'll be a muddy path. Good luck hope it pays off.
  9. Next to post where a user's "Location" is displayed, there is no space after. Example: LocationSyracuse, NY
  10. If you've got a lot of white oak consider yourself lucky.
  11. If you drive by a tractor supply, or just about anywhere that sells trailers, they get shipped in on foam blocks. They give them away for free. Get 9 of them, and a pull strap or a few bungee cords, stack them 3 x 3. They will stop a broadhead. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  12. Well looking a bit ahead, just going to recommend premium non ethanol fuel for your mower & trimmer, power tool mix. An extra 2 gal gas can. Camper - travel trailer, get two reusable 'jaws' mouse traps.

I don't like deet on my face. I use a boonie hat with a bug net over it. Reusable, no chemicals. Doesn't take long to ignore bug noise & get to work. Besides, there's usually other noise, chainsaw, tractor, tiller etc.
  14. I thought about planting a few persimmon but I am in zone 4b. On the bright side, I can be more selective. I'd like to drop another dozen chestnut, & apple variety, and a few more oaks but the checkbook says otherwise. Tractor supply had a few bitternuts, might see if they take.
  15. Dick's Sporting goods usually has a sale preseason, if you pick up a 20' set of sticks it makes a great way to help maintain straps & tie downs on ladder stands. Then I'll usually have an extra hang on & use the sticks to check out a new spot.
  16. Up for sale is a 5' King Kutter Blade in good condition. Cat 1. Asking 250$. Located in Syracuse.
  17. Greetings, just an update I thought some might be interested to see a bit of the survivability these trees seem to have. The other year I bought a few Dunstans at walmart. Apparently the word about them wasn't out yet as they were against the wall. You know where clearance stuff winds up all dry and withering. Got them in the ground and did what I could to tend to them. Well what they were seemed to have died off, but in the spring they came back to life with shoots. Just recently I snapped a few more pics of their progress. Shoots were sort of growing out instead of up, so I took some garden stakes and string and made supports around them. Picked up 3 more and a pin oak to get into the ground this year. To Luck.
  18. Wondering what the ph is in your bean plot?
  19. One trick I use is a set of toasty toes for each foot. Over the first sock, over my toes not under the another by the arch. Sock over with a good set of boots. Once your in stand don't let your head get cold keep your ears by your head. Snotcicles, deal with it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  20. 81 is also on the dull side. Course for work most driving time is at night so between Cooperstown Oneonta etc I spend a lot of time avoiding deer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
