  1. Thats good stuff right there. I got a good laugh off that.
  2. Yeah I'd rather goto Dick's than Gander(Cicero store isnt great)...Unfortunately, there arent many other options for us in the Syracuse area. Sports Authority is a joke, Walmart is just Walmart, and some of the Local Gun Shops are few and far between. Herb Philllipsons and Dick's in my opinion are neck and neck.
  3. I havent gone woodchuck hunting in years...Dont really have a place to go.
  4. I have 57 rounds of .270 Winchester brass. Once fired, all Remington Core-Lokt. I was going to attempt to reload or have reloaded, but just realized it wasnt for me to do so. $20/bo for all 3 boxes. 315-552-8143. I live in Syracuse area, prefer to do a FTF transfer, I dont want to bother with shipping, I can, but the price goes up to cover the shipping.
  5. Kindle Fire, I actually use it as much or more than the PC at home.
  6. Hey everyone, I have a Remington Fieldmaster 572 pump .22 Rifle. I am interestered in selling it, or possibly trading it for a Ruger 10/22. I've owned this gun for about a year and a half, and I just dont shoot it like I thought I would. It shoots good, I've only put maybe 1-1/2 or 2 full boxes of ammo through it. Here is a link to a bunch of the pictures of it: http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/low88s10/572/ The gun itself has some wear on it as you can see from the pics, The scope is a Simmons 3 x 9. I dont have the original sights, this is the same condition I purchased it in. I'd like to sell it for what I have into it. I live in Cicero(Syracuse) and would prefer to do a face to face transaction. I can drive within reason to meet (about an hour or so). Asking $275 firm.
  7. I bought my bow there last March. Awesome service, those guys spent about 2-3 hours with me tuning my bow, and making sure it was dead perfect before it left the store. Not only that, but from the 2 other shops that quoted me very similar setups, Barretts price out the door was $200 less. They ran a special at the time I bought, 10% off all accessories with the purchase of a new bow. I know 2 other guys who've bought bows there in the past, and they said the same thing. I'm a customer for life. Shame I live 2 hours north of Elmira, but I still go down time to time for family events, and I usually try to make a run over there if I can.
  8. I've eyeballed the Saiga .223 over at Herb Philipsons a few times, seems like a pretty sweet rifle. Have fun with it.
  9. Well here it is. All done. Thanks to Larry302 for getting me some information on Epoxy. I think it turned out really good, for just a mild update. We'll see how it stands up over the long haul. Enjoy!!!
  10. HA Ha, My SKS lived in the garage for a week or so before I could sneak it into the house after I bought it from a guy at work. Funny how our toys get attention, but "new shoes" dont. Double Standard!!!
  11. So I did a minor polishing job on the knife, nothing crazy, just giving it a little bit of shine, just used a white polishing stick and a cotton wheel on the bench grinder. I have attached a picture of one scale just sitting on the knife, this pic shows 2 coats of stain, I put on a 3rd since then, and am now waiting for it to completely dry before I start putting on coats of poly.
  12. Thanks everyone, I'll keep it posted as progress comes along. Sorry no, it was given to me by a family member.
  13. So I am a big fan of DIY, and recently knife making has caught my eye. Though I'd love to try to make a full knife from scratch, I just dont have that kind of time. So I decided to update an old folding knife that was given to me when I was a kid. I'm starting with an old Puma SS lock back. When it was given to me, the lock back was pretty worn, it open and closed, but the blade could easily be bumped closed. I've used it for certain things here and there over the years, but I recently decided it was a good candiate for an update. First thing I did was take it to work and with the help of one of the Toolmakers, I now have some Mahogony scales for it, and also the toolmaker was able to reshape the lock back, so that it actually locks now. Here are a few pics of what I have so far. I carefully pulled the old plastic scales off, and used a smart scope to profile the scales, and create a CAD file, then the toolmakers were able to rough cut me a few sets on the CNC mill. Much easier than roughing by hand. I have the scales sanded and currently they have one coat of Red Mahogany stain on them, and once I get the shade I want, I'll coat them in clear poly. The knife itself will see a minor polishing job, and then the scales will get installed. More to come as it happens. Just thought I'd share.
  14. Doc Martens are made in China now too. Pathetic.
  15. I live near the Cicero Gander as well, and they always seem to be out of ammo, every time I go in there the shelves are spotty. Not to mention their prices are always on the high side. Most of the ammo sites I have seen have no issue sending to NY.

It took me about 6 months here in Onandaga Cty. I think it was just about $130 when it was done, but I did end up paying like 3 or 4 different fees when it was all said and done.
  17. Nice. Got a good laugh out of that.
  18. I've contemplated switching from a multi pin to a single pin on a pendulum. I like the pendulum as one could really dial in distances.
  19. Personally I dont want to argue with anyone, but I think the way the DEC breaks up the time to hunt is pretty lame. Why dont they figure out the time window of big game deer hunting, state wide, and divide the time equally between bow/gun/muzz, throw Xbow in there where ever you want. Give every hunter (1) buck and (1) doe tag, that way everyone has the same timeframes and same opportunities to take either a buck or a doe or both. So it doesnt matter what weapon you hunt with, when you tag out...your done for the year. So simple but politics always seem to muddy up the waters. Just my two cents.
  20. I dont want to add fuel to the fire but the answer to that question seems like a HUGE gray area. Better to just find out who owns it, or just leave it alone all together. "unless it is unimproved, apparently unused and unfenced"
  21. I noticed a few small scrapes this past weekend right near a bedding area, I think the Bucks are starting to rut again, but it so far didnt seem to heavy. Almost like they are just playing around.
  22. Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. Well I'm back to my Fiber sights for now. My load has been the same for 3 years and prior to last season, I could keep a 1" group at 100yards with the 777 and Powerbelts, so I'm ruling out the possibility that the inaccuracy is due to my loads. I should have mentioned that. After I found that loose scope mount it was never the same, even after tightening it back down with loctite. I'll be hunting for a Nikon Prostaff, just like on my rifle for the muzz, I'm happy with that scope.
  23. Technically they arent here...so technically there is no season for them...Sort of falls in that Gray area. I'm sure no matter what the circumstances, the hunter would be in the wrong for doing so, unless self defense, or if said cat was attacking livestock.
