It would be a bit of a drive, but Barretts Bowhunting in Elmira is a great place. Those guys do not mess around. I got my bow there 2 years ago. I wanted a Z7Xtreme in camo, with a Black Gold sight, WB rest, and a mathews quiver, Axion stab, wrist strap and 6 arrows. I originally went to AJ's and Hooler's and got quotes for what I was looking for, and my budget($1300 fully set up and out the door, not a penny more). AJ told me $1500 and if I wanted to be "close" to $1300, I'd have to go with a low end sight, rest and quiver, but they might be able to do it....Hooler's quoted me $1400, but said he could work with me, so I felt a little better....then I went to Barretts. I got my bow set up the way I wanted and I got the accessories I wanted WITH ARROWS for $1298, $2 under budget. The tech at Barretts set me up, worked on my bow with me for about an hour and a half, tweaking every little thing, and then the owner Don came out and checked my bow over..."Before it leaves my store, you are happy and I am happy with it." I had them redo a D-loop for me once last year and they did not charge me.

Watch yourself at AJ's. Every time I've ever been there, they push top shelf items only. And ther prices are REDICULOUSLY HIGH! Plus the staff are not very personable. I work in Cazenovia, and that place has a reputation for what I just said, many of the people I work with all warned me not to go there, I had to find out for myself. Just FYI.

Nothing like this info to help guide a decision...

HA HA, beat me to it! -
from Wikipedia: Ballistics are similar to the .30-30 cartridge and its .308 caliber (7.62mm) bullet, but the larger diameter .321 (8.15 mm) bullet of the .32 WS will create a larger wound. However, given the same weight of bullet in both calibers, the .30 caliber would have a greater sectional density, and correspondingly greater penetration.[5] According to Winchester's original claims, the .32 WS has about 5-10% more energy than the .30-30 at point-blank ranges, and less at longer ranges due to increased drag due to the .321's greater diameter and reduced sectional density. Guys are still using .30-30's these days, so I'd guess that this cartridge would be ok for deer. You might just be limited to 100 yards or less. As far as to whether its a good rifle or not...You'll have to get some range time and determine that for yourself. Good luck.

Archerytalk DIY forums have a few how to's on making your own string stop. Looks super easy, and I'm sure cheaper than what you will pay for from Mathews.

I used to be straight up Labatt Blue guy. Now Ive been turned on to the Craft beers, and I love trying new beers all the time. Big fan of Saranacs, and Samuel Adams, Southern Tier Brewing has a darn good IPA. Middle Ages has some good ones too.

I would say for the price of a Wolf, just get that. I think if you spend the money on a $75 dollar gun, one that you may have to do some tinkering with, you may end up not liking it, and even regretting it. The ability to clean the break open breech styles are far superior to the bolt action styles. Also its good to start fresh with something like a muzzleloader. Mine was neglected once, and I have some light pitting near the breech, but it still shoots great. Now I am anal about it. I would drive myself crazy with a used gun that may not be in the best shape. Just food for thought. Good luck with whatever you do.

Barrett's Bowhunting down in Elmira. True professionals. -
Yep, same here. I ordered my Rage the other day, and just got them. Practice heads seems to shoot just to the right of POA. I will shoot a hand full of times more, and determine if I should adjust.
-
Agreed. Unfortunately, living in the burbs with neighbors on all sides, and young children....my time to shoot is limited, maybe 1 or 2 times a week if I'm lucky. Basement and garage are not long enough either, or I'd have a short indoor range.

So aside from shoulder raises, what are some other exercises that I can do to strengthen up the muscles that allow me to hold my bow steady for a longer time? Holding the draw isn't really the issue. Holding the pin steady time after time is. Any input is appreciated.

So is this law now or just a proposed Bill? I see it is referred to codes, but what does that mean? -
Mosin Nagant Stock and Scope Mount For Sale

Sold pending funds. -
I have an older block target too. Mine was all bear up from broadheads, if your a cheap ass like me, and really don't want to drop $ on a new target right away, take an old ratchet scrap and wrap it around the block target and compress it down with the ratchet. Quick and dirty fix, might get you some more use. I really want a new target too, but making due with what I currently have.

'02 Saturn SL1, 4 door sedan. 178K on the old girl. I drive 60 miles round trip to work, daycare and home. Plus its awesome not having a payment and its pretty good on fuel, its a little small, but here is a fun fact......Did you know that you can fit a full grown deer into the truck of a Saturn Sedan, and close the trunk? Have done it a few times.

Thank you everyone. My 4 yr old seemed to be more excited about my birthday than I did.

Thank you Paula. I was actually at the SCOPE Rally in Albany in support of our 2nd ammendment. Then it was back home for cake with my family.

This GM store seems to never have anything when I go there. I dont know if they keep any ammo "out back" so that if someone were to buy a gun, they might be able to buy some ammo with it?!? I do know their shelves are pitiful at best. The local Walmart is about the same. Elite Guns in N.Syracuse is rumored to be closing and moving to Texas, so that leaves us folks in the Syracuse area with about nothing.

I use 777 pellets and 777 primers. I have also used the White Hot pellets, they burn cleaner than the 777. Hornady XTP .44 cal sabots. Devastating round. I switched to those bullets last season, and I had the opportunity to take a buck during the ML season. I was amazed at how much damage that bullet did to that deer.

Looks like it may have been bumped back again. http://www.nyfirearms.com/forums/laws-politics/53288-anyone-know-if-tomorrows-hearing-open-public.html
