  1. I haven't found the actual bill yet..... But here is what I have so far.... And I found a list that is supposed to be the guns in question. http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=5dffbf07-d8e5-42aa-9f22-0743368dd754
  2. Feinstein is introducing her bill for a new AWB today. Time to start the emails and phone calls at the Federal Level.
  3. I dont see how microstamping could effectively do anything other than waste time and money. One could sit with a piece of scotch bright and polish that basically right off the round if he or she chose to do so. Then what do they have?
  4. Where was this at? I know that Mao-Mart requires that, but never had to show that at Gander.
  5. Some how, I am not surprised. Who keeps voting that clown in?
  6. I bought a finished stock set from Boyd's to replace the old beat up stock set on my Savage 24. The buttstock required some minor fitting, but I didnt mind that so much. The issue is, that the new stock set is aftermarket, and its dimensions are a little bit on the big side in terms of where it meets the frame of the gun. I can see some small ammount of walnut from where I had to make it fit the profile of the gun. What would be the best way to finish up these small areas of the buttstock? I dont think I'll ever match the stain color of the outside of the stock...plus now I'm dealing with an end grain, so that alone will soak up any stains differently. Would a few coats of tung oil or true oil be enough? Any input would be great. I will try to load a picture of what I'm dealing with so its easier to visualize. The picture makes it look worse than it is...the fit isnt all that bad. Thanks.
  7. I think it will happen. IF these crazy gun bans happen thats the first step....all it will take is one more incident to happen with some sort of shooting, and thats when it will be put in place.
  8. Ok, the other 2 bills noted are, more common sense measures for employees that work at gun shops etc, and the record keeping of sales etc. I'm not so worried about those ones...But that first one is scary. Like some of the other bills being proposed usually there is a link to where you can send emails or messages to members of congress.....Who or where do we go to petition these bills? Or would that just fall to our local elected officials like good ol' Chuck Schumer?(heavy sarcasm).
  9. Stopped there yesterday myself. Same thing. Ammo was plenty on the shelf from what I saw, but yes .22 ammo was about gone. I bought a brick of 9mm while over there. Scary stuff man, I have a bad feeling about this whole thing.
  10. At the very least the officers were not fatally wounded.
  11. The media today sucks. They dont bother to get all the facts before sending out crap articles like the one posted above, that have little to no actual fact(s)...Yahoo news is about the worst offender: "The .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle, which had a combat-style flash suppressor, is similar to the one used by the gunman who massacred 20 children and six women in a Newtown, Conn., elementary school earlier this month." Lanza did not take the AR-15 into the school. I cannot stand the media today, they just crank out these stories and they are NOT accurate. The story on Yahoo was published this afternoon according to their timeline....that youtube video was uploaded on Christmas day. WTF YAHOO NEWS??????? Sorry for the rant, its out of my system now.
  12. Yeah ill try that once I get all the crap off it. The brains and upper nasal cavity are probably the most PITA of all of it. Just been doing 2 to 3 hour sessions in hot water(simmer) no boiling. Sure has a fun smell. Hope the nieghbors don't mind.
  13. I slow cooked(simmered) mine today for about 2 hours or so, I got about 85% of the flesh and cartiledge off. I will dip it again for another hour or so tomorrow with some Dawn, or Borax to hopefully release the rest of it and another session of sitting there picking all the stuff off. This is my first time trying this.
  14. I shot my first Muzzleloader deer today at 7:30AM 6pt buck. 35 yards broadside. He ran about 25 yds and piled up dead. I'll post a picture later.
  15. My dad does taxidermy, and he has used Scorza's for supplies and other things as long as I can remember. I never heard him ever say anything bad about them.
  16. I use some cleaner called Ballistol. It is a natural base to the acids in the new powders. I bought some after I had an issue with corrosion creeping up. Do a search for it on the muzzleloader forums. I bought it on Amazon.
  17. Going to get 3 or 4 days of Muzzleloader then I'm done. CVA Optima .50 Caliber 100gr 777 powder, new this year Hornady XTP sabots. Suppossed to have some snow on Tuesday morning following all this rain today, so we'll see if the deer are moving. Might be good for Still hunting since I'm sure it will be quiet.
  18. Ok, with the fence "issue" aside, know nothing about them in terms of what to plant. I'd like it to be as low maintenance as possible. What are some good seeds to plant that will yield food that will either bloom all year long…or a mixture of 2 or 3 things that will allow for different blooms through out the year, and also is stable in the NYS region? My Dad has a small farm tractor with a "plow" set-up, so we are good there….just need some advice on what to plant for "beginners". Thanks.
  19. Hey everyone. I am thinking of putting in a food plot on my Dad's land. He has a nice patch of land that is a nice pass through area for deer. But they really dont stay in that area, so the hunting can be good one year, and dead the next. The area I'd like to plant in though, has beef cattle that roam ( large upper end of a cow pasture). Has any made any plots and made them as cow proof as possible? I know its tough to keep them out of an area. Thanks for any input, trying to come up with different ways to hunt this land.
  20. Hey everyone, My wife and I are expecting our second child to be born at the end of March 2013. I currently am using the "spare" bedroom as the room where I keep my guns and ammo stored. Well in about 5 months, I'll be forced to either move the gun locker either to the down stairs living room(split level home) where we have a woodstove, OR to the basement that is not finished. Our basement is pretty dry, I run a dehumidifier all year down there and its usually always at 40% relative humidity. I guess my question is, what would be the better place to put the locker? The downstairs living room is a decent size room, but when the wood stove has a fire going, it can get upto 90 degrees down there, I know since I have a thermometer down there. Will that sort of temperature change cause any issues with the steel of the guns? The temp change can go from 72 to upwards of 90 fairly quickly if I have that stove roaring. So with all that, where would be the better of the 2 places to put them? Thanks.
