Hoping someone knows the answer to the following. Like the above poster, I bought a muzzleloader priv/tag and was issued an antlerless deer tag. However... page 14 of this years hunting trapping guide under deer hunting privs and tags says ..."muzzleloading privs you will receive a bow/mz either sex tag. " then it says for bow hunting and junior bow hunting ...."you will receive a bow/mz season either sex tag." According to the regs then I should be allowed to take two antler deer using my bow tag and my mz tag. However I have an antlerless tag for mz.. something is not adding up here. What gives????

My lab and I have been duck hunting most weekends lately. Saturday morning though was time for deer and she had to stay home. This didn't go over very well with her. She howled when I was leaving and clawed at the door to try and get it open!! Wife told me after I left she was whining loudly and kept trying to get out the door. Crazy dog.

Saturday morning I filled a deer tag so this morning it was duck time. Not much flying. I was fortunate enough to have my nephew for his first duck hunt as a shooter. Early on a small flock of blacks landed borderline distance for his 20gauge. I told him they were a bit far, but swimming away. He took the shot but nothing fell. Still nice to get some shooting. During a break while everyone was wandering and had no guns... another flock of blacks landed in the spread. Oddly also a single canada came in. For some reason I shot off my bicep and missed. My nephew missed as well. I really hoped he dropped it but not this time. Not a bad morning.

LIVE from the woods 2016 Edition! - 7th Year, lets make this happen...

Out with my wife tonight. Doe worked its way across a field toward her. Kept going closer close. All the sudden I see a flag semi up and the deer trotting away. It made her. Just before leaving I see four on the other side of the field. Just grazing. Leaving I get to the wife's tree and spook two more coming out of the corn. They are around. Looks like they are moving.. oh oh also the buck I got this morn smelled fairly rank. But not until I got down close to gut him. My guess is he is just starting to rut up. I Think the rut is just really in the beginning stages here based on him. I think this is a good week to be in the woods. -

Whew... got it hung and got some food in me. Story time.. morning was going well. Didn't see much. Around 8 a large fox trotted by. A while later I saw a good sized brown object move quickly through some thick shit on the edge of my vision. Had to be a deer though I didn't see it clearly enough. Sitting waiting and all the sudden there's a buck in front of me. Saw a bunch of points so turned off safety and put the scope on it. Had a clear shot but deer moved. Luckily not far and stopped. I let one fly and it found its mark. Dropped a small six.- 7236 replies

Who will be on the crossbow bandwagon tomorrow morning?
Al Bundy replied to ApexerER's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Been waiting for tomorrow. I'm all squirmy with anticipation. Waxed and lubed my xbow a bit ago. Saw some deer out tonight. One nice buck with three ladies. -
7H this Saturday I checked my trail cam and noticed a scrape. Its in the same location every year. Had not been visited in a few days though. Also was not there last weekend when I checked the trail cam. Im off work starting Friday and time to start living the hunters creed.... "Early to bed early to rise. Hunt like hell and make up lies." Good shooting everyone.!!

Pulled into camp and saw about a six walking through a field. Pretty sure he's the same one on trail cam. Saw a bunch moving around on the drive p also. They are up and moving tonight...

After I posted this three mallards came SCREAMING by.... and kept flying. Three missed shots. Grrrrrr.

Two down this morning. Sun shining not much flying. Except geese. Lots of small flocks. Last teal I shot was so long ago not sure I recall. I do recall how hard they are to hit.
-
One bird down. Not much action. Some birds flying but few. I had to sky bust this one. My lab had a he'll of a swim getting this. One flock of about 6 came for a look and flared. Wind and rain picking up. Think I'm close to calling it.
-
Wind 17mph... 94% chance of rain. Hopefully they will be flying in this miserable weather. Thinking about setting up my turkey blind and using it. Keep the rain and wind off. Good luck on the ponds. that is often fun shooting. Haven't done that in some time.

Getting my gear ready for the morning. I keep telling my lab its duck season. She's ready to go. It finally feels like duck season out there. Cold rain wind.. if there are any ducks round tomorrow should be great.

Ahh Crud. I should have planned better. I didn't look at Albany zone. I don't hunt there and not real sure where to go. I assume mostly private along the Mohawk. My lab actually was the one who woke me up Sat before the sun came up. She heard gunshots and was barking like crazy.

I heard many many shots this past weekend. Assuming it was youth weekend... Glad to hear some youth were getting good shooting. I'm salivating to get out on the 22nd.

I am 8 weeks post op knee surgery.. The doc opened me up, cut out a piece of bone from the end of my femur that somehow the cartilage was gone. Then he took a cadaver knee and cut out an exact match size, that had cartilage on the end. Took the piece with cartilage and press fit it into my knee. Result was now no missing cartilage. Hurt like hell. Sat in bed literally 4-5 weeks. Got a bed sore, many aches and pains from not moving. Gained a bit of spare tire around my mid section. But.. My knee should be good for long term now. Worst part I was just starting to get around and feel not bad when I,threw my f'in back out!! Did go to the archery range one night and shot 3 into a target. I'm not ready for bow season. lots happening with grafts. Zimmer is marketing a product called denovo nt, for grafting onto missing cartilage. Another product denovo et, now Renamed to,something I forget is even better. It's in phase three clinical trials and a new phase four should start In a year or two. I couldn't wait that long. It's old school for, your doc to say.. You are too young for total knee replacement. Live with pain for 20 years. If your doc,is telling you that.. Find a different one. Lot of options. Im sticking with my Xbow. Maybe next year or late this year with compound. Good, luck all

Set about 35 pound draw. Limbs fine. I'm going to adjust later today or tomorrow. Thanks.

My wife's bow got,dry fired and the string came off.. Had it put on and now it can't hardly hit the target. I'm assuming this is normal after string replacement? Its shooting to the right of the aim point. I have never adjusted a bow before so this is new to me. I see the saying follow your arrow, so I'm planning to do that. Question is what to adjust. I'm fairly certain I have it figured but advice is welcome. Second image you can see an Allen key fitting that I'm planning to loosen. Slide that to the right a notch, shoot, continue until arrows go where wanted. First image is an overall image of what I'm adjusting. I'm wondering if that Allen key on the second image is the correct place and correct adjustment. ?? Thanks. Also it's off vertical a little. I adjust the pins individually I assume? And one more. This is a youth bow. First pin should be sighted 20 yards? Or is this a matter of opinion? Thanks...

I'm out shooting some clays with my lab. Trying to get her better trained not to break. I give the OK command after shooting a bunch and she takes off into the tall goldenrod and is scrounging around in it. I call to her and she comes back with something in her mouth. I'm thinking she's eating deer shit and command drop. She does and to my surprise a spent shell falls from her mouth. She goes and gets all of Them one by one.. I didn't even tell her to or anything. She must have smelled gun powder and gone and got them. This should be great skills for finding downed geese. Crazy lab.

Maybe it was only one or two years that it was on in the winter. But I do recall it. It was a long time ago. Maybe even the first year. Honestly don't recall.
-
Also.. Anyone recall when shark week was on end of January/winter?? I liked it better then. Middle of winter these awesome sometimes tropical shows about diving and warm weather. I don't love that its on in the summer now.
-
Far as I am concerned this year Discovery and Shark Week nailed it. Shows I have not seen before that are good. Hope the rest of the week stays this good...

Hudson River for those. Snotty foggy rolly night but totally worth it.
