If they are 100yds away consistently why the hell haven't you moved yet? I tend to be aggressive but I likely would have changed my setup after the first day or at least the second. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would be worried about expansion, the best bullets I used were 70gn tsx Barnes they expanded great and had 99% weight retention. Probably killed 35 deer with that load and never got an exit hole and that was shooting deer that averaged 80lbs. I would not take a quartering shot with them. 223 is a round that you need expansion if you want any kind of blood trails. I can't imagine the bowlers will expand better than the Barnes but very well could penetrate better. I used what I had but would never pick a 223 today for deer if I had other options. I change batteries every year, it's there if I need it. Just haven't needed it. Wife bought it for me a while ago for Xmas because her brother and father said I needed one. I used it more for ice fishing than hunting. I'm old fashion I use my map and compass for hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Too hot to hunt, let's see those shooting benches.

I should have clarified I only have 4 receivers the rest are just barrels and I forgot the 300 BO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The 223 will kill just fine as long as you are willing to pass anything but broadside shots. I have killed a ton of deer with a 223 while i was stationed down south. I hunt deep woods in the Adirondacks and have found that a scope is a necessity. A quality 1-4 scope or fixed 2x scope is all you need but helps immensely when trying to thread one through the bushes or in low light conditions. The only time I don't carry a gun with a scope is when it is snowing or raining hard. While still hunting and tracking it is impossible to keep a scope clean and dry. It is permanently affixed to the ground? And it is close to the woods and it's looking directly down my 100yd range Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well thanks for the help lol. Well she's done. Turned out pretty good for drinking a 12 pack and using a chain saw for all the cuts. I hope my guns shoot straighter than some of the cuts but other than that I think she will work pretty good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have a back tag with a pin that I cut in half and it sits in my pocket when I'm hunting southern zone. I have been asked once where my back tag was and I pulled it out and he asked me if the clip broke, I replied with "yup" and he said have a good day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Too hot to be in the woods so I'm going to drink beer and build a shooting bench today. What do you guys have and what works for you. It has to be ambidextrous because my brother and I shoot from opposite sides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I planted 30 acres of winter wheat yesterday. Go for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have owned a ton of different sights and have settled on HHA for this reason. I have the light on it for hunting other states with longer legal times but still haven't turned it on in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is crazy to just have read that. I'm sitting in this stand soaked with sweat after busting my butt for an hr and a half getting set up tonight. I have 2 bucks on cam on my property that anyone in this area would be damn proud of to kill and I'm 2 miles from there set up in hopes of seeing a buck I saw this morning. Just before pulling out my phone and checking this thread I was thinking to myself that I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if I ever kill another deer. I have a wall full of nice racks. To me the how is more important the kill. Shooting a buck in my food plots means nothing to me because I don't have to hunt them I can just kill them. Killing this buck that is smaller than the bucks I have on cam at home would mean the world to me because I hunted him. Reading her response brought a tear to my eye. I wish I had her mentality and maturity at her age. I went through too many years of having to kill deer and I am glad I have reached this stage in life. I wish her the absolute best and I can honesty say I will have to wipe tears off my phone screen when I see the pictures that I know I will be seeing of her with a deer. You have a hell of a kid and you should be proud of her because she is lucky to have you as a father! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This mornings at 5am on my way hunting a buck went across the road in front of me that was a dandy! He was heading into a grown up goldenrod field that I do not have permission to hunt but I do have permission to hunt the property that backs up to it. Problem is its over a mile walk and it's 80 degrees but here I am. Long walk with a stand on my back. I found this spot turkey hunting this spring and thought it was a slam dunk spot. Apparently my excitement covered reality I had to do a bunch of trimming to even get the stand in and a bunch to have something that resembles a shooting lane. But here I am in the corner of a corner of a corn field in an island of hickory trees and brush that's 30yds from an oak hedge row 40yds from the corner of the field I saw the buck go into this morning. I'm hoping he is in the swamp I front of me and is going to cut this corner to the oaks on his way out. Or step into the goldenrod before going into the standing corn. Most likely I will see nothing because of the noise I made and the fragrance I have acquired but I'm here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It could be different now but 8 or 10 years ago when I was trying to buy 45 colt ammo I had to fight and argue with the guy at the counter because I didn't have a NY pistol permit at the time. They had a 45 colt circuit judge on the shelf behind him and he finally allowed me to buy them. He explained the rule to me afterwards. You're correct that on there being a pistol in about every caliber but I don't think most Walmart employees would know that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If they weren't 410 shells then you would not have been asked. It's a store policy for all ammunition that could be used in a pistol to ask for pistol permit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for advice. Mid size v full size truck??
Buckmaster7600 replied to regulat0r's topic in General Chit Chat
I have a 3/4 ton regular cab but my brother has a canyon. If it wasn't for me needing a 3/4ton I would have a canyon I have always like small trucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Well that was exciting. The buck I was setting up for just stepped out at 60yds got to 55yds and sprinted at the does and fawns that were 20yds from me. Ran them into the woods 50yds from me. He is a high narrow 9 or 10 not a huge rack but definitely a mature buck and a shooter! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
